story
Her last owner owner, a lower diamond under Yellow Diamond, put her and Ruby on the gem market since she had no use for a defective Sapphire. Star Sapphire and Ruby were bought together on the gem market as a last ditch attempt by the both of them to prevent their shattering due to being considered useless by their past owner. Their king, feeling sympathy, took it upon himself to allow them into his court as knights.
