SUMMARY

Lakenight is very strong-willed, competitive, and a sore loser. Once she makes up her mind, she will not change it easily. She has stateliness and confidence, so she always impressed people with an image of power and authority. She is very frank and willing to speak out her feelings so she can gain others’ trust easily. But she is over confident, which makes it difficult to do well in team work situations. With strong self-egoism, she also finds it hard to make true friends.

Used to be a human pet with the name Paprika. But they abandoned her when they moved, leaving her collar on and it forming a painful ring around her neck and getting infected from the rain. She was taken in by Vinesprout, then the Physician of the Mire, who she said to tell everyone her name was Lake, since that's where she found her. And eventually worked her way up to warrior, earning the trust of most of the Colony cats. And vowing never to speak of her real past.

Was a Ranger under the leadership of Lord Dustbright. She was on a lone patrol when she met a rogue tabby named Heathcliff. Lake was too annoyed by the name and dubbed him simply Ant. While these two were absolutely wrong for each other, Lakenight being all work and no play, and Ant being all play and no work, they still ended up having an affair, resulting in Lakenight getting pregnant.

She had one kitten who she named Creekday, who looked a lot like her father. Having Lakenight for a mom, Creekday training basically began early. Soon enough she became a top ranking Novice of the Mire, that all the Rangers wanted to mentor.

But when an accident happened, resulting in the death of her daughter, Lakenight took her anger out on Dustbright, since it was his kitten Hazeldust who caused Creekday to be killed. She challenged him to single combat to take over the Mire.

Dustbright refused, causing some mixed feelings amongst the Colony. Lakenight had planted the seed of doubt, and through the next year she plotted against Dustbright, convincing people that he was not a good leader and how they would fare better if they had a leader that actually enforced rules around here. Many agreed, why even have rules if the leaders weren't even setting an example and treating himself as their equal? And other such questioning. Soon enough she had enough allies to take Dustbright down. Lakenight challenged him again. And he finally accepted.

They fought. She killed him in one blow. His supporters were devastated, and even her supporters thought she went too far. It was enough to defeat him in combat, there was no need to kill him.

After becoming leader, she became mates with Rookwing, though it was more out of convenience than anything. They had two kittens together, Rookwing naming one Crowstrike and the other, Magpiewing, to keep up the naming theme of his long lost Colony.

Rumors spread that her leadership was illegitimate and she knew it was Hazeldust who was putting these ideas in everyone's head. She called her forward for a clan meeting. They challenged each other for hours, metaphorically from taking cheap jabs at each other to going for the throat, each side making good points while simultaneously explaining how the other side was wrong. The cats who were still upset about Dustbright sided with Blueshade. The cats who hated Dustbright and felt Lakenight was a better leader defended her. The cats who wanted the rules to be followed were unhappy either way. And the two have been at odds ever since.

Several years after executing both Hazeldust and Blueshade, their co-conspirator, Lakenight was killed in a dog attack while on a hunting patrol. Blueface had long ago surrendered her position as Knight to her cousin, Fogpelt. Fogpelt therefore became Lord of the Mire in the aftermath of Lady Lakenight's death. He chose Skyshine - Blueface's daughter - as his Knight.

Relationships

MATE: Antflame (former) - Considered him a bumbling oaf of a cat but found him adorable enough. She was furious when she found out he was from the Colony of the Town. Though not as furious as Honeytuft when she found out about his affiliation to the Colony of the Foxes.

Rookwing - While Rookwing is very loyal to her, Lakenight views their relationship as more of a business transaction than anything.

OFFSPRING: Creekday - The most beloved figure in Lake's life. Lake and her daughter shared a very deep bond. Even as a kitten, Creekday showed signs of a prodigy and Lakenight knew she would become a deputy - perhaps even a leader - some day. To say she was devastated and angry when she was killed would be a gross understatement.

Crowstrike - Her son with Rookwing. Considered him a sensible and skilled cat, as opposed to his rebellious sister. Due to him being her son, Lakenight showered him with ill-gotten praise and made him a warrior far too early. This would ultimately lead to him being unable to defend himself against the vastly superior Ranger, Hazeldust.

Magpieflight - Hated the fact that she turned out to be the opposite of her beloved dead daughter and constantly compared her unfavourably to her dead sister. Needless to say, this caused the mother and daughter to hate each other and Magpieflight left the Mire with very little fanfare as a result.

MENTOR: Lord Dustbright - Despite their initial companionship, Lakenight challenged him to single combat and killed him. She appeared to like him when she was younger, but after the death of her daughter on his watch, she was very unforgiving and murdered him in revenge.

NOVICE: Woodclaw - Thought him a tad clumsy and soft, as opposed to her trusted deputy, Juneberry, who was his mother. Nevertheless, she encouraged him to be the best Ranger he could be.
