Lyri's older sister. Sonorie is an incredibly accomplished battlemage with more medals than she can fit on her robe, and not for lack of trying. She's a little peeved the war ended before she could make Colonel, and peacetime really hasn't made the best of her considerable talents. Recently she's been picked up by one of the military's little side projects and is eager to do something fun again... in other words, she's working for the big bad now. Whoops!

Sonorie is a little short-tempered with everyone, but Lyri gets the worst of it. She firmly believes that Lyri is only studying elemental spellcrafting in a poor attempt to emulate her, and finds it more annoying the older Lyri gets. She tolerates the kid out of family obligation, but things get sour fast if they're stuck in a room together with nobody else to mediate. (The idea that maybe Lyri has her own reasons to like magic has literally never crossed her mind.)

• A surprisingly good strategist and leader despite the dumb jock energy she exudes. Don't comment on it, she'll get huffy.
• The House of Arcanta's very proud of her, but wishes she would find a nice husband and produce a couple heirs for them, and will pepper the suggestion liberally into every conversation. Sonorie occasionally tries to relate this to Lyri's problems with the family and doesn't understand why it doesn't work. ("Ugh, you'd think they'd give me a break for like a minute considering everything I've accomplished! Though I guess that's where your situation differs, haha. What are you now, 20? And still in school? Hey, where are you going?")
• Technically she's Abel's coworker now, which is hilarious to me?? She probably thinks he's a loser.
