Akyro

Akryo is a charming and quirky demon of Hell.
He tries to stay cheerful even in scary or dangerous situations but is rather cowardly even at the best of times.

His physical strength is quite weak compared to many demons and he's found himself tossed around from master to master in Hell as far back as he can remember. 

He's resigned to this fact and is currently 'in-between' masters, so to speak. One would say he has a way of finding freedom, as much as it is taken from him. He might live in servitude to a higher up demon for years and years, but in the end, something will happen to his master and he'll be free again for a time. He honestly hasn't put the two and two together yet, but he's kind of got a knack for indirectly getting his masters killed/destroyed. (He just thinks he's really lucky...)

He roams Hell freely, doing his best to avoid trouble, which is ever so keen to find him.

It is at one of these intervals that Akyro meets demon Zerek, freshly entered Hell after Grieve's sudden disappearance.

Akyro has never encountered a demon as pitiful as him, and quickly latches himself onto Zerek, offering to traverse the Hellscape together. At this point, Akryo is the first demon Zerek encounters after leaving Grieve's lair. He's confused of the strange environments, of what exactly has happened to him, what he is, what Akyro is, he can barely speak the language and doesn't know his own capabilities. Zerek is frightened of the unknown in which he's found himself; thus, Akryo's friendly and cheerful face is a welcome sight. Zerek agrees to let Akyro guide him to wherever that may be, and the two of them get up to fair a bit of mischief together from there on out.  

It doesn't take long for Akryo to grow a little possessive of Zerek, particularly after discovering Zerek's unfinished/human status, as is the nature of demons in the Hell Realm. Akryo's jealousy rears its head especially so, after Zerek saves an Angel by the name of Nala from the fire lord Phayne. It is clear that Zerek is growing smitten by Nala, as the trio travels together in search of a portal leading out of Hell (which was Nala's idea). Zerek is all on board as he wants to return to the life he once had, but Akyro finds himself working in the shadows to hinder these plans. He prefers to stay in Hell where he's comfortable, and wants to continue living happily with Zerek at his side. He's opposed to the change and rift that Nala's presence has struck between he and Zerek. Akyro believes Nala is trying to pull his friend away from him and his demon nature lends him no favours either.

Zerek begins to push Akryo away due to his overbearingness, especially so with Nala whispering endorsements in his ears (she too has a deep seeded dislike against Akyro, as he does her and the two are constantly having silent spats behind Zerek's very clueless back).
Akryo does his best to hold back his jealousy and for a time he does well; but in the end the nature gets the better of him and Akryo is offered a way of removing Nala from the picture. Having Nala kidnapped by a firelord Garanzo, quickly leads Akryo's to his own demise, leaving Zerek to fend for himself in Hell once again...

- Akryo can get extremely jealous of people who get too close with his best friend/crush (Zerek). He's not gonna go around murdering people, but he will find ways to get the offending individual out of the bloody picture, so it can just be him and Zerek again. For a while Zerek is blind to this nature of Akyro's, but he couldn't hide it forever.

- Akryo's not the smartest cookie in the tin. He favours humour/sarcasm to get him out of most situations, and is quick to jump into submissive behaviors in order to stay alive. He carries a cheerful demeanor and while he's not very smart, his heart is in a good place deep down.

- Despite his tendencies to do meanspirited things out of jealousy. He's not a bad guy, but is often guided by his strongest emotions at any given time, regardless of potential consequences. (Is there a big red button that says do not push? Keep it away from him!)

- In the end, he just wants to have fun, stay close to his friend, and stay out of danger's way.

- He has a rather bad habit of thinking rocks do any damage, when he tries to act brave (mostly this just turns the enemy's attention to him, which technically helps whoever they're currently focused on). Akyro tends to enjoy collecting small stones and fancy looking rocks, keeping them in his pockets for later viewing, selling for coin (if its pretty enough), or in some cases panicked throwing.  

- Occasionally, he sings made up songs while on their travels (he has a decent voice, actually, but the lyrics need work). Songs of walking into creepy caves with Zerek, or nearly escaping imminent doom while with Zerek, songs about how fascinating this same winding pathway is as they walk through a dry canyon somewhere. As annoying as Akyro can be sometimes, Zerek appreciates the company and the lightheartedness when facing certain death, as he isn't much a talker himself.

- Akyro is not above playing random games to keep him entertained during long voyages; such as eye spy, or would you rather. He encourages Zerek to join in, as hearing a human's insight of the world he once lived is incredibly fascinating to Akyro. It also helps Zerek remember things from the life that he has forgotten, during Grieve's torturing.

- Akryo definitely laughs at his own jokes (someone has to!) 

- Although he is not the bravest of demons and would much rather turn to flee than stand up for himself, Akyro finds that some of Zerek's misguided confidence in the face of danger might have just rubbed off on him. He does his best to protect Zerek when the going gets tough, enough that Akryo has surprised himself at his own bravery one or two times.

- Akryo's hair can change colour! During day time/under the sun, his hair becomes a dark red and as the day falls to night/moonlight (or when indoors/pitch blackness) his hair will gradually fade to a light pink.

- Akryo's horns and eyes glow in darkness as well. This is involuntary and he can't control it (good luck if he's trying to hide from something!) It has helped guide him in complete darkness a few times, however. Though when he's hiding from something he typically has to cover them with his hands and shut his eyes.

- He wears a few necklaces that he's stolen from the hollow corpses of his past masters (after they've been destroyed). Trophies of his unknowingly committed murders...
