✦ Backstory
Vince is the son of the Aszinian Kingdom's most powerful mages, Quinne Ashewa, as told by others who knew him. Quinne was the leading commander of the kingdom's magical battalion, Qaphela. This armada was also the King, Queen, and Princess' troop of royal guards, being the strongest.

His mother died when he was born, as she was killed in battle as the second-in-command. The man who replaced her was a very cruel and harsh commander, named Kotu Dona. He led his armies with an iron fist, not ever taking time to show kindness to the army as he believed brute force was the answer to properly leading, unlike Quinne Ashewa.

Later on, Quinne Ashewa died in combat, with suspicions and witnesses of Kotu killing him. Although there were witnesses, there was no evidence of this and Kotu got off scot-free and a promotion to the new general.

At this time, Vince was a young child, not really understanding the concept of death and playing with the queen's daughter in a carefree life. The queen and king took him in, seeing his magical power increase as the years go on, and put him as Avys' brother/guard.

He grew older and as he did, he became more of a pessimist, branching off and negating Avys' natural happiness and spunk. He didn't really like the optimistic side of Avys and would constantly make little negative remarks off the side.

Despite these quarrels, he viewed Avys as his younger sister and loved her just like he would a sibling.

However, despite the love his adopted family gave him, he knew that he wouldn't be able to just grow up as the prince and knew once he got older, he would have to depart from their family.

At his realization of this, he ran away a couple weeks later, not looking back in fear of his tears that streamed from his face would be seen. As he was running, he found and stowed away on a ship headed to Sayan, the capital of the Crescent Kingdom.

After sailing for many days they got raided by pirates. The pirates killed the crew and all they found.

This is where he saw him, the boy with golden hair and red streaks that looked brighter than fire right beside him stowed away, hiding from the pirates as well. Vince heard boot steps. He held his breath and peeked through the gaps in the crate he was behind.

A voice spoke, sounding young, but still a male's voice, "Why did we choose to raid this ship again? There aren't even any good things on this ship." A meeker and smaller voice replied, "You said to boss, we followed your orders!"

A booming reply sounded with a, "Really!?" and he heard a scuffle of shoes as one of the two ran out. The older one stayed inside, looking around. "There must be something good here." He started getting closer and Vince heard the boots getting closer. He saw a glimpse of this person, his shock of fiery hair and bright red fox ears. He saw bright orange eyes under the tussle of hair mostly covering his face. He looked in amazement at the hair, almost mesmerized.

Then the boots stop. Vince slowly curls up, making himself as small as possible. The boots pick up and head towards the area where the golden-haired boy was. Then they stopped. Just as Vince was about to take a breath, the golden-haired boy was snatched up by his poncho and carried away by the fox-eared pirate.

Vince took a sigh of relief, knowing that he wasn't the one picked. He couldn't, however, just leave the boy. He picked himself up and snuck to where he could see what was going on.

It was too late. As he got to a place where the boy was visible, he saw just his flop of hair as he plummeted into the sea with nothing but the other crate they through.

Vince started to back up. He backed up and turned around. The owner of those fiery fox ears was right in front of him. Vince was breathless. The leader of the pirates was... A kid?? The kid then snatched Vince's scarf, pulled him close to him, Vince being able to smell the salty sea breath of a pirate. The boy them spoke, "Who are you, and how did you get here?" Vince fessed up and told the truth about him running away and stowing away on the boat. The boy sat him down and then proceeded to pull him into the open where the rest of the band of pirates, who were also kids like him, were. The boy turned around and told Vince, "Jump off and join your friend."

Vince wanted to at least know this boy's name first. He knew he couldn't fight off a band of 20 or more kids. "What's your name?"

"Akai Hono. Don't forget it." He then shoved Vince off the edge and into the water with the golden-haired boy. Vince caught up to this boy and decided to help in the efforts of staying afloat in the Fyennic waters. They traveled in the sea for days until they finally passed out of thirst.

They both awoke in a cabin. They ran to the window to see waves splashing against the place they were held in. Vince decided to try the door. It was locked. He opened the little panel where eyes would go and yelled out to someone.

He then saw those same sunset eyes and flaming hair of Akai Hono. Akai went up and said simply, "so you are awake? We will take you to Kedek, but that's it. Do not ask of more of us or we will not hesitate to throw you off of this ship and not come back for you later." Akai stared at Vince a moment more then briskly turned around and stalked off.

Vince was a bit scared, but at least he could talk to this boy. He started conversing with the boy, later found out to be Sabaku, and they talked about life in their homelands.

They talked, got fed meager meals, talked more, fed again, and repeated. They both got very friendly and Vince even showed the little doll he made when he was little so he could practice his magic.

The days, although seemingly long, passed quicker than both Vince and Sabaku had wanted to. Each day, Akai checked in to make sure they were still alive and each day turned around and briskly walked away.

The got out on the final day, Akai saying his farewells and dumping them off in Sayan and sailing away.

Vince started his new travel in Kedek. Sabaku and Vince parted ways, not seeing each other again for a while and Vince wondered when or if he would be able to see the fiery-haired boy again.
