Wei

Wei was born into the lap of luxury as first princess of Chikara and heir to the throne. Her sister, wo was born a few years later, was to be a princess along with her, but she was, unfortunately, born blind, making her unable to hold a proper place within the palace. This angered Wei, even at a young age, for she could not see how something like a blindness could degrade a person or put them into a lower position. She tried to convince her parents that her sister was more than able to maintain the title of princess, but her father, who was a very rigid emperor, insisted otherwise. He wished to follow the way of their ancestors, as well as obey the Creed of the Broken Soul, which demanded that people born with defects were to be stripped of their former status and sent to Ancient Temple, where they would be forced to work for the temple monks. It would mean that the only time Wei would get to see her sister was when she and her family went to the temple, and that wasn't all that often at all! Thankfully, her mother often took her to the temple to see her sister after the younger child was sent there, and they would talk for hours... but then Wei's mother got sick. The queen remained sick for months... then ultimately passed away. Wei was left in a state of sadness that seemed to last forever. What was worse was that her father would not let her go see her sister. She could talk to no one but her adopted brother, Kwatoko. They ultimately grew up together, but Wei still often thought of her younger sister.

Time passed and they grew older. It was only when she had turned seventeen did her father realize that his children should have extra protection. After all, they were easy to watch when it came to the castle guards, but now that they were getting older, the emperor thought it best to assign his children their own personal body guards. So, with a little bit of digging, the emperor of Chikara managed to find a few promising samurai and hired them to keep his children safe. Wei was assigned the samurai Tuketu, and at first she didn't quite like him. He seemed to follow her everywhere, and while he did give her the space she enjoyed, she knew he was never too far away, and it was something she wasn't used to, nor did she like all that much... However, things changed when she had decided she had wanted to see her sister again. Being an adult now, she knew she could do as she wanted, but that pesky samurai could possibly tattle on her. After all, he was hired by her father, and she wouldn't put it past him to keep tabs on her. Nevertheless, she went and saw her sister... and Tuketu didn't say a word. He didn't even seem to mention anything to her father afterwards. So, after all that, she found mutual ground with him, and the two ultimately became friends.

More time passed and she continued to go to Ancient Temple and visit her sister, as she had begun regularly, with Tuketu coming along with her. However, this time was different. This time her sister was not in the temple. She was not outside, tending to the gardens, nor was she cleaning gravestones or meditating. Where had her sister gone? That day, Wei went about, running around the temple to try and find her sister, or get answers as to where she had gone, and yet no one could tell her where she was. Days past and still she was not at the temple, and Wei was getting worried. She couldn't leave her sister to roam the country of Chikara, if that was what she was doing. What if something had happened to her? She had to find her, since no one else was willing. The emperor was not willing to send out his bannermen to go look, nor was he willing to have anyone in general look. So Wei took it upon her hands to take her horse and look for her sister. Tuketu, being as loyal as he was, went along with her, and now the two travel together, wandering all across Chikara, looking for Wei's lost sister. Hopefully she's still out there... and hopefully she's alive.
