Loving • Introverted • Sensitive
Very shy and tries to avoid interactions in any way possible. Despite this, Jasmine really wants to make friends with others. Jasmine doesn't speak, but shows emotions through overt motions. All Jasmine wants is to be kind and do good.
You'll know if Jasmine has taken a liking to you if you suddenly find little bags of tea at your front doorstep. Jasmine will continue to try out different types of tea to those that Jasmine has started to trust until that individual has found their perfect tea. When the perfect tea is found, the bond is set in stone and Jasmine pops up frequently and eagerly, doing anything in Jasmine's power to help this new friend.
Past
Much of Jasmine's history is unknown even to them. For all Jasmine knows, they just woke up in the middle of an open field surrounded by wild growing, pure white blossoms that seemed to have appeared at the same time they did. The only thing that this little cat knew when waking up was the name of the flowers: jasmine. With this small bit of information and nothing else, the cat took on this sole word as a name.
Confused and with nowhere to go, Jasmine wandered aimlessly in the vain attempt of finding out, well... Anything. This eventually led Jasmine to a relatively dilapidated cottage at the edge of a forest. A well trodden dirt path was the road that led Jasmine to the steps up to the front door. Originally curious, Jasmine approached the cottage with wonder in their eyes. That curiosity was easily swapped with fear when the door opened by a hand, revealing the residents of the house. There wasn't another thought in Jasmine's head aside from hiding.
Without hesitation Jasmine ducked underneath the creaking, wooden stairs, completely out of sight. The dark was perfect cover. The person that apparently lived in that cottage made her way down the steps, each footfall upon the wood sending a shiver of worry through Jasmine's body, before she vanished down the dirt path. Only once Jasmine was entirely certain that she was gone did they relax. However, this calm only lasted a moment as they turned to look further beneath the cottage, only to be met with two pinpricks of glowing eyes and a low growling in the utter darkness.
Present
Ever since Jasmine was able to take a moment to breathe and not panic at every turn, there has been an unmistakable pull towards an unknown. Jasmine isn't sure what that pull is or where it leads, but it keeps growing. Though Jasmine has deep fears of leaving the comfort that they have now found, their motivation is increasing. What has been consistent has been that any time Jasmine meets someone else around their home, there is yet another tug.
Trivia
- No one has seen what is underneath Jasmine's blanket. Not even Jasmine wants to ever take it off. It is also unclear where the blanket ends and Jasmine begins. Patchwork swears that she has seen Jasmine's head swivel to look at her from behind, but the body followed later
- Absolutely despises the cold. Will do just about anything to stay warm. Though the cold gets to Jasmine easily, it's the snow that Jasmine has a genuine fear of. They won't even touch it without freaking out and going into a near catatonic state. Jasmine is sure that there is something in their past they can't remember that has to do with snow causing this trigger.
Relationships
Now living with Patchwork, helping her around the burrow, life has been relatively peaceful. Jasmine has slowly acclimated to living underneath the cottage's porch and finds comfort in this home they are now in. There are plenty of things for Jasmine to do and learn, and even if Patchwork gets frustrated at how little Jasmine knows, she usually is forgiving and understands that it's not Jasmine's fault. It has taken her some time to get used to being both a friend and teacher, but she picked it up quickly.
Jasmine is able to explore more as well and has slowly been gaining friends over time. Having security has helped them dearly, even if Jasmine's mere existence is still in confusion. One of those new friends appeared closer than expected, and proved to be an underground neighbor. Tori the gem mouse quite literally popped up out of the ground and excitedly declared Jasmine to be a new friend. She started talking a mile a minute about all of the activities they would do together, and quickly grabbed Jasmine's hand. In stunned silence, Jasmine was completely unable to manage any sort of response as Tori dragged Jasmine towards a hole in the ground. It was finally this that snapped Jasmine out of a trance, a cold sweat running down their back. In complete terror, Jasmine bolted aimlessly. They weren't able to register Tori saying that it was just her home, and the dangers outside.
Feeling incredibly claustrophobic all of a sudden, ignoring the warnings from Tori getting fainter, Jasmine escaped from underneath the porch into open air. Even still, Jasmine kept running. Splashing through the mud blindly, Jasmine's foot caught in a particularly deep puddle. It was only as they were falling did Jasmine realize that their hands were caught in their sheet. Jasmine's face was the first to hit the ground. Lying down in that moment, unmoving, Jasmine could only feel incredibly silly. Running from a tiny mouse who only wanted to be a friend? Sure she was a bit pushy, but that was no reason to ditch her. And as these thoughts swirled around, the recollection of Tori's warning began to ring loudly. A shadow slowly moved to loom over Jasmine's figure. The first thing Jasmine noticed was the methodical swaying of a large tail shadow.
A clawed hand gripped the scruff of Jasmine's neck, sheet in hand, before lifting them up. Higher and higher they rose before being turned to face the being who Tori MUST have been talking about. The cat face that nearly calmed Jasmine down sprouted a snake's tongue that sent ice down their back.
The creature gripping Jasmine must have been speaking as his mouth was moving, but for all that it was worth not a single sound slipped into their mind. Nothing was being processed. All that Jasmine could hear was the blood rushing through their ears. Soon their head lolled back, eyes losing focus on anything tangible. It seemed that in response to Jasmine's complete lack of focus the snake-like cat shook Jasmine, and that's when they heard another clear voice. Gentle but firm, it brought Jasmine back to reality. In the distance and briskly approaching was the most beautiful being they had ever seen. All bright shades of pink, a rabbit sporting a massive fishtail behind her was the one who came to save Jasmine. And she looked pissed.
Almost on command, the snake cat dropped Jasmine unceremoniously back onto the floor, where Jasmine learned that his name was Glam. More importantly however, the two began to bicker about the now dirty cat on the ground, where Jasmine learned that their savior was called Kiki. Eventually Glam backed off, clearly annoyed at something that didn't seem to be entirely directed towards Jasmine. At this, Kiki turned to help Jasmine to their feet. They were thanking Kiki profusely, stammering and whispering nearly every word. It was difficult to look her in the eyes. Those kind, pearlescent eyes.
Eventually Kiki managed to pry out that Jasmine was living with Patchwork which made getting them home all the easier. On their walk home, Kiki was making sure that Jasmine wasn't hurt and also to not take any mind of Glam. He was apparently a nuisance but harmless enough. Jasmine wasn't so sure, but if Kiki said so then they would try to believe it. Patchwork seemed to have known that the duo would be arriving as she was already standing at the entrance of their home. Her hands were folded across her chest, trying to hold back the range of emotions roiling in her. She looked pissed. Not even noticing her upset, Jasmine bawled and ran into Patchwork's plush arms, hugging her tightly and apologizing for getting lost. They tried to explain their entire experience through hiccups and snot bubbles when Patchwork sighed, and said that everything was okay as long as Jasmine was also okay.
A freshly brewed cup of tea was ready for the cat inside which Jasmine was eager to accept. For a moment Jasmine forgot about the day's events before being struck by rememberance. Sheepishly, Jasmine approached Kiki one last time to give a heartfelt thank you, even if they couldn't look her in the eyes. It wasn't needed however, as Jasmine could feel her soft smile radiate at them. It was then that Kiki explained she lived in a nearby pond and that she would be there if they ever needed her help again. Positively beaming, Jasmine squeaked out that they would bring over her favorite tea as soon as possible, then scurried back inside their new home. Patchwork and Kiki remained outside, hearing Kiki's tinkling laughter fade behind them.
As they sipped earl gray tea in the chipped cup which had seen better days, Jasmine could only think about the others they met in such a rapid fire manner. So many in such a small community like this, there must be others. But first they would have to make friends with them of course. Even the thought was terrifying, but with Patchwork and Kiki's help, they were sure that they would get through it. With another gulp of tea, the warmth stuck in their chest. Soon that warmth turned into feeling like something was tugging at their insides, trying to pull them towards something with a fervor. Their heart rate raced and Jasmine had to clutch at their chest to shove whatever that feeling was back inside. Still breathing heavily, Jasmine suddenly felt very alone.
Tori
[ slightly unwitting friend ]
Has a lot of trouble keeping up with her energy, but generally enjoys her presense. Jasmine enjoys having company and loves seeing everything that Tori knows how to do. As much as Jasmine tries, however, boundaries are something that are difficult for Jasmine to fully set, so Tori tends to run all over doing whatever she wants.
Patchwork
[ friend & roommate ]
One of the first living beings that Jasmine had ever encountered, the two were first incredibly afraid of one another. After being intimidated away from Patchwork originally, Patchwork was the one who sought Jasmine out to apologize for her behavior. Soon the two formed a strong bond with Patchwork taking in Jasmine, and Jasmine feeling incredibly safe with her.
Kiki
[ admires ]
After she stood up to Glam for them, Jasmine became quickly infatuated. They admire her ability to be firm but always kind, but especially how fearless she seems. But more than anything, Jasmine can sense the same loneliness and longing with Kiki that they have. Jasmine wants more than anything for Kiki to open up to them so they can be there for her.
