Being Called A Vampire

Mysterious . Wise . Nihilistic

A very mysterious and wise (and probably goth.. if he knew what the term meant) old bat, Murdoc remains quite the enigma to almost everyone around him despite living in the large castle he's called his home for decades. Once a place where a royal family in the 1800's lived before they all mysteriously went missing and never returned, at some point in the last sixty or so years, Murdoc moved into the castle and made it his own abode, much of what was there from centuries ago still in tact, his most prized possession being the library, where he frequently keeps track of all the books there and has been working at a long-time goal of preserving them all, painstakingly writing them all by hand and ensuring that whatever information is in them is kept alive. Considering no one has ever seen him actually leave his castle, there's a good reason why most folks are unaware that Murdoc even exists, assuming the castle he lives in to still be abandoned. Despite how much of a hermit he is, however, the large bat is actually quite welcoming to strangers that want to visit the castle, enjoying showing others around and answering the many questions they'll likely have about the castle's rooms and artifacts that he keeps as clean as possible. Even though he speaks entirely in monotone and his voice never raises, it's not difficult for him to intimidate others with his large size and the sheer intensity of his words whenever someone tries to do something nefarious, or is just being too loud or obnoxious for the old bat's tastes. His flat demeanor makes it near impossible to tell what he's thinking, though he harbors a very strong love for telling stories, both about the castle and himself, or even just completely made up ones, whether they be something he read in a book or something he himself came up with on the spot. Many believe Murdoc to be a vampire bat just based on how long he's lived in the castle and the fact that he never leaves, though he strongly dislikes being called as such and is really just an old bat whose bloodline dates back to the royal family that once lived in the castle doing his best to keep it in shape and spend the rest of his days there. As he'll tell you when asked: he eats fruit, not blood!
