Mondstadt's distant Watcher and one of Yuè's apprentices. Like still waters running deep, his outward expression does not always represent what's in his heart.

Photon of Fluctuation - Yu-Peng Chen

Skye

approachable . charismatic . polite

Skye is, in Yuè's words, "the embodiment of a True Watcher" as perfectly accepts and embraces the ideals of one. That was the original assessment he received during the former Watcher's time with him. Though he would appear to be someone who was unattached and with a polite demeanor, his time with the Dawn Winery and its residence had slowly melted the apathy and distant stance he formed, especially after Barak's influence over him. His friendship with Kaeya, Diluc, and Xue had ensured his role as a pillar of support instead, forcing him into a helpless stance rather than continuously uphold the beliefs drilled into him. He still performs his Watcher duties but with much less confidence and with a much more careful outlook.

Compared to the much more sincere and soft Yún, Skye's way of living and daily life is all about protecting his loved ones, most of the Seekers of Mondstadt, and distracting the Mad God's Gaze through various scenarios he deliberately looks for. It does mean that more people tend to be sacrificed and used but Skye does concede that most of them had a rather sizable record of crime and continuous activities. Though he has built up his reputation as someone nice and kind (and somewhat of a pushover), there were people who he slipped his mask to, earning some rumors of his black-hearted nature. Fortunately, he's had some rather important figures vouching for his character so he still makes it on top of Mondstadt's Top Bachelor Picks.

Skye, despite knowing how much of a lie he has lived his life, will try to be honest if he could. He will lie without hesitation if the situation is in need of it but he will never break a promise he has made. He's also the type to allow himself to take the brunt of anything that could harm someone, whether it is through words or actions. Perhaps it stems from his survivor's guilt from growing up and being trained under Yuè. With the addition of a few important people in his life, it is interesting to note that he's resorted to half-truths whenever he is faced with the three people who could see through him and his words.

Skye has built up his persona to be that of a charismatic, easily flustered, and kind man that you can rely on, so his words tend to be on the softer, playful side. He is supposed to be polite, nice, but rather distant in a way he handles people he is not close to. This is entirely different towards those he bear his heart to. Towards the siblings, he tends to still have that air of charismatic banter but it tends to have a rather sarcastic bite and somewhat dark undertones. Diluc, Kaeya, and Xue are inherently aware of it and never bothered to ask more about him and would simply play along.

He tends to have a more commanding tone when speaking with the Seekers (as seen with how he orders Giselle when the situation calls for it), proving himself reliable as Mondstadt's Watcher. Towards the people who were not his family but has a certain degree of trust, Skye tends to be laid-back and much more liberal with his words and back-handed compliments. Perhaps it is truly his way of showing that he trusts someone that is not part of the Collective. If anyone dares to harm or even has an inkling of bad intentions to anyone he holds dear, that person would either disappear to who knows where or inherently traumatized. Make no mistake, either way Skye will use them as a fodder for the Mad God's Gaze.

Like his sister, Skye does have the tendency to show off, as heard from his lines. Probably as one of Yuè's last disciples, he tends to have confidence in his skills and enjoys proving himself to everyone. In particular, if Diluc, Kaeya, or Xue would request his assistance (especially in monster hunting) he would agree with no regards to rewards or danger. Compared to Yún who likes skillful and playful battles, Skye loves dominating and one-sided fights in his favor.

trivia

Skye's two idle animations are: One of him stretching himself and dusting and inspecting his clothes and the other is of him whipping his head up, eyes opening as he clutches his Vision before closing his eyes and looking around in suspicion.

His English voice actor is Joe Zieja and his Japanese voice actor is Jun Fukuyama. His Chinese and Korean voice actors are unlisted and uncredited.

Skye is a veteran Adventurer but due to his choice of clothing (or just plain being frugal at them and refusing to buy new ones this is a lie he's just attached to them at this point), he is often mistaken to be a Knight of Favonius. It's gotten to the point that Kaeya even began calling him "Honorary Captain" and that nickname caught on and has become some sort of running joke.

His presence is what got Diluc and Kaeya talking once more after their fallout (not in the friendliest of terms but enough to be amicable to hang out with Skye)

Him, Diluc, and Kaeya are quite famous and more commonly known as "Mondstadt's Top Bachelor Picks"

Though he is quite sociable and carefree, he doesn't really open up to anyone (with people describing it as Skye putting a wall of polite facade between them). The only exceptions to this are Diluc, Kaeya, Xue, and Tung-Mei

Like his sister, Skye has his eyes perpetually shut, leading to people guessing (and even betting) what his eye color is.

A running joke with him is his constant attraction (platonically and romantically) towards cryo users. It has led to multiple call-outs from some individuals (with his sister being first to notice, and Xue continuing the tradition) and his attempts (and fails) to be more conscious of anyone using said element.

Skye handles the bounties that normal adventurers could not take or have failed multiple times to conquer. This leads him to also end up being in charge with some adventurer teams (including Bennett's)

Always calls people with their proper titles, unless in private with the people he is close to (Diluc, Kaeya, and Xue)

After accidentally calling Paimon a child, she has given him the nickname 'Pinky Head'. Within Mondstadt, he has acquired several titles but the most common one seems to be 'Honorary Captain'.

Skye is surprisingly good at arithmatic and calculations (possibly as he was the son of former merchants). Apparently, he also can cook really well, leading him to have a part time job at the Angel's Share.

His specialty dish is a 4 dish called "Roast Boar Stew" which is based on "Sauerbraten". When eaten, it buffs your team with an increase in Atk, Def, and Crit by 100 and an increase Hydro resistance by 25% for 300 secs.

On his birthday, Skye will send the player a message along with three Teachings of Freedom books, his specialty dish, and twenty Calla Lilies.

story

"I bear many titles and perhaps, in a way, there is a drop of truth in all of them. The only thing I can confirm, at least, is that I'm a man who sees things through the end. If you ever need someone to do a job you cannot, just hire me to do it. I always pay back my favors tenfold, after all."

𖤓 Childhood 5GYpdaR.gif

Born from a wealthy pair of merchants, Skye (whose birthname had been Leon Kramer) was an intelligent kid that was pretty much the only one to inherit his parents' trading business. As they were one of the few merchants willing to deal and come contact with the Lawrence Clan, Leon had many opportunities to come in contact with a young Eula Lawrence and forge a well-meaning and wholesome friendship. Upon reaching a reasonable age, his parents had begun showing him the ropes of the trading business, often leaving and travelling around Mondstadt (and eventually, even the neighboring nation of Liyue) to gain more experience in the long run.

Around this time is when the family would last make a trip outside of Mondstadt together. As they were hurrying through Stone Gate, they passed by a similar caravan heading towards the opposite direction. The family paid it no mind up until the screaming and sudden shouting began. As the two caravans crossed, a pair of Lawachurls appeared, blocking the way. The monster destroyed the caravan the Leon and his parents were on and similarly, the other caravan seemed to be in a similar situation as his. Trying to get the two children to safety, their parents had sacrificed themselves to bid more time but had not managed to do much, getting swiped and thrown to the side like ragdolls. Upon seeing their parents in that state, both of them awaken their Vision in the middle of the crisis and managed to fend off one of the Lawachurls. Before the two children could do anything further with their newly awakened Visions, they began to writhe in pain, as they felt their Vision throb and destroy them from the inside.

As they were about to be killed by the remaining Lawachurl, a mysterious man had suddenly appeared and fought it back and defeated it with ease. Glancing at the two children, he went over to their dying parents, who called out to their children in pain before asking for the man's assistance. In exchange for their Oaths to some mad god, he promised to help them out as the worried parents finally let go and passed on. The man did the same thing, asking the two of them for the cooperation and promise of Oath to the same being. Upon doing so, the throbbing finally stopped. The man, who named himself Yuè, had promised to train them and help them survive so that they could one day take back their freedom (and to continue his fight should he fail and fall to his demise)

Not really having anywhere to go now, Leon hesitantly agreed, finding comfort in the fact that the other child with him named Liqin is just as lost as he was. They followed Yuè back to Liyue, Leon bidding his old home of Mondstadt a small farewell as he left the wreckage behind. After being adopted by him, Yuè gives the two their new names, Yún and Skye, mostly to distance themselves from the traumatic night (and to distinguish their new roles from their old life). Thus, starts their journey as Seeker apprentices of the former generation's strongest Watcher.

"Time and time again, there's always something I had personally believed in: Misfortune occurs thrice, so a miracle pays the price. So many of us have different tragedies and stories to tell but I always hoped that through those misfortunes, a miracle will bloom and pay off."

❈ Life as a Seeker Apprentice TylHLe6.gif

Like his sister, Skye had not gained the ability to grasp his Vision-Gaze until his promotion later on. Though to some extent and thanks to Yuè's genius teachings and training, he had at least most of the theory and reflexes down that they would need later on. Moving while keeping their eyes perpetually shut (to avoid showing the Mad God, if it choses to look through them, anything interesting and forcing them to interfere), deflecting useless probing questions with simple words of politeness (as their Oaths would not allow them to divulge anything important anyway), even judgement of what to present to the Mad God as a temporary 'offering of entertainment' if they are in a pinch. Yuè drilled everything he had acquired from his years of experience onto the two. Skye did notice that their elder brother had been much more frantic and desperate at teaching them what they needed to but he attributed it to his usual frantic and strict ways.

Later on, upon the discovery of Barak's awful treatment and view towards Yún, Skye had nearly fought to the death for his sister's sake. Though the ex-Seeker Apprentice terrified him still, Skye had been ready to throw his own life upon seeing the broken look of his cheerful sister. Yuè had banished Barak as a result but it was a scar that had stayed in his mind for years, even after being separated due to him inheriting Mondstadt's Watcher status from the former Watcher.

Though he ended up living with the Ragnvindr's (mostly due to Yuè asking Crepus a favor) for majority of his return to Mondstadt, Yuè hadn't neglected his training. As a claymore user and his previous experience with Ame, Skye was taught Yuè's personal battle style (which later on, he incorporated his hydromancy from his Vision-Gaze too). In addition to that, he was also training with the likes of Diluc, Kaeya, and Xue, which is how he managed to be proficient in battle.

In one night, however, the Collective went into a chaotic state upon the mad god's announcement about Watcher Yuè's status as a traitor. Things went downhill immediately upon Skye feeling the Gaze land in his eyesight, ordering him to dispose of their traitor. The night he had slashed his claymore and saw his brother fall from the Peak, something had broken in him. Arriving back in Dawn Winery, he had been inconsolable for weeks until Xue had forcefull dragged him out to the rest. Slowly, he had healed from the incident as he was now Mondstadt's Watcher also looking after Liyue's newest Watcher.

Though things had calmed down for a while, Crepus' death had thrown another death for him to bear as he was forced to simply watch as another Seeker's life had been extinguished under the mad god's orders. Diluc and Kaeya's fight had driven a wedge between all four of the ones living in the household though fortunately, as with all things, time slowly mended and bridged the gap.

"My master once said my name is too big of a burden. From the Universe to simply the Moon, it was as if she had tasked me to keep a closer watch on you three. Now, I must do the opposite to you, Leon. From a lion to the vast Sky, please watch over your sister for me."

❖ A Watcher's Promise 4o7YYhU.gif

Diluc's arrival once again in Mondstadt a few years prior to the Traveler's own arrival had signified changes. There was a shift from their original relationships, growing older and wiser from experiences. Though Skye had managed to keep track of Diluc's progress (and in turn, had updated Kaeya and Xue on his journey) it was still rather different seeing someone in person than hearing reports from the Seekers looking after him. Upon Kaeya giving him the shared gift between all three of them, Skye knew that things were finally moving forward.

Upon hearing the catastrophe of his sister's entanglement with a Fatui Harbinger, Skye nearly packed up and walked straight into Liyue before she had told him to mind his own business. Much later on, he hears about the side-effect of Kaeya and Diluc's stunt had given the Fatui free-range in Mondstadt (even summoning La Signora's presence) due to Dvalin's havoc. Though it had caused much damage, it had also given Skye some much needed breathing room to continuously feed the Mad God with constant interesting scenarios. As the Veteran Adventurer, his job was originally to subjugate the Dragon but his gut instinct had told him to wait.

His neutral stance on much of the Fatui's schemes and actions had earned him interest from Signora (though he did reject most of her joking offers to join the Fatui) and much of Kaeya and Diluc's scrutiny (and jealousy). After the Traveler's encounter with her (and the events of A Watcher's Duty), Xue had given a hint and epiphany towards the squabbling red-head and cavalry captain about their shared feelings for Skye. Though very obvious to the Lieutenant, Skye had been blissfully unaware of their harboring feelings until a certain incident had triggered their protective streak which had led to all three consummating their newfound relationship.

Upon the Traveler's journey, this marks the start of the mad god's activity to increase as well, forcing the Watchers to finally fight head-on. Nothing is certain but one key fact is that Yún and the rest of the Watchers are at eye of the storm.

Adoptive Elder Brother (deceased)

Skye's deceased adoptive elder brother (and parental figure). He taught him all he needed to survive and fight on as Mondstadt's Watcher. There were even rumors of him disposing of Mondstadt's previous Watcher just so Skye could inherit the position immediately (though none of these rumors were ever confirmed) While he may not have been as star-strucked as his sister, Skye has a fair deal of respect and platonic love for his elder brother, so he would also defend his honor when someone talks bad about him.

Adoptive Younger Sister, Apprentice-mates.

His adoptive younger sister and fellow apprentice-mate. Though they are not related through blood, their bond and shared experiences make them as tight and close as real ones, even with the distance now currently separating them. Originally, Yún was seen as more of a worry-wart for him due to his chosen preference of dealing with Scenario Hunting for the Mad God, however, the situations reversed upon Skye learning of her intimate relationship with a Harbinger.

They may act like the usual, bickering siblings snarking at each other at every opportunity, however, Yún and Skye will move Teyvat itself if the other is in danger. If given the opportunity to run over and help, they will always take the chance, even if the odds are stacked against them.

Best Friend.

He and Xue seemed to have an unspoken understanding of one another. Though a lot of times, he acts as the Tsukkomi to Xue's outlandish Boke, the two see each other as equals and would defend the other if someone else meddled with them. Skye does owe Xue a lot for knocking some sense into him when he was at his breaking point during Yuè's death at his hands and though she never questioned, he operates the Collective activity even when she is in the vicinity. It takes a great deal of trust for Skye to do so, not even Kaeya or Diluc had been given this (mostly due to his promise to Crepus to keep them out of it). As far as anyone is concern, the best way to get yourself chosen as the next tribute for an interesting scenario is to mess with the Cavalry Lieutenant (and later on, her lover)

Friend.

A friend he made through his own close ties with Xue. Though they started the friendship in a benefactor-saved way, this slowly morphs into something more solid as the two get to know more about each other. In the end, Skye's respect for the body guard had been beyond what he originally had predicted but it does mean that he is one more person he can leave his back to.
