Mike, like the rest of his siblings, was born with a specific purpose in mind; to be a killer, someone with the power to wipe out armies if the need came. When Mike was born, however, his right leg below the knee just wasn’t there, and he looked worryingly normal for killer demon spawn. In a panic that Mike was another failure to what they wanted, the relationship established between his parents collapsed as they desperately tried to bring out his powers prematurely through traumatic means. Every day, the child would face needless abuse as soon as he was old enough to not be immediately hospitalized at it, with the adults hoping that he was still powerful, he just had to get his powers first.

Mike, of course, wound up heavily traumatized from these events. He’s scared to be alone in rooms with adults he doesn’t trust, and being touched without warning makes him fly into a panic. Orchid, his demon parent, decided to take Mike back to their dimension when he started showing that he had powers, but didn’t seem to always be able to use them. They eventually decided to take him to see a doctor about what could possibly be wrong with him. The diagnosis took awhile to reach them, but it turned out the needless abuse led to Mike’s personality basically fracturing so he could cope, leading to the development of DID. Mike, the host of his system, can’t use the magic his parents so desperately wanted out of him.

Mike and Archibald met awhile after Mike was first moved to his dimension. Orchid felt that if Mike was going to live in this place, which was tailored for a crowd that was much taller than him, he should probably at least have the ability to walk. Because of the complicated way Mike’s leg formed, he wouldn’t be able to walk steady, and instead started to use a cane. After the DID diagnosis came out, though, and some effort was made to try to establish communication between Mike and his primary protector, Radio (Ray for short), said protector and Archibald began discussing closer on how best to fit the prosthetic to be comfortable for all alters, or at least as many as possible.

Orchid found another use for Mike yet, however. Around the time his sister Abyss first went missing, Orchid realized that using powers or potions of some kind, they could alter Mike’s memory to make him a sleeper agent up in the overworld dimension. Because he looked so much like a person, he likely would’ve been accepted with open arms. The plan specifically involved abusing his DID through the aforementioned spells and potions, and overall, even though by now he’s done it multiple times: no one in the system likes it, but they don’t have a choice. Mike has been an acting sleeper agent on and off for about 250 years now, and he much prefers the “off” time, when he gets to work as Archibald’s apprentice and pretend he’s the only family he has.
