Stormi was the first born of three boys, "three mistakes" according to their very withdrawn parents. For the first five years of his life, he was an only child, and barely saw his parents, instead being taken care of by various nannies and babysitters, whoever charged the least that they could find, while they worked long hours. The rare times they were home, they did not appreciate their young child wanting attention, instead ignoring him until anger got the better of them, or, eventually, he would give up. They did the bare minimum for both him and his younger brothers, and once Stormi was old enough to have learned to cook, they did even less, having him take care of his little twin siblings.

Stormi did okay in school. He was quite quiet, fearing that speaking to others would annoy them. This same fear would pass onto his younger brothers, worst to Valerian. His grades were fairly high until he began to fall asleep during classes. He had no clue why he would, and whenever he would be scolded for it, all he'd be able to muster was a "sorry" before tears would fall. This issue came to a head when he was fourteen, when he fell asleep making himself and his brothers breakfast, his parents finding him collapsed on the floor while burning pancakes set off the smoke detector. After a lot of yelling they dragged him to a doctor, who diagnosed him with narcolepsy. The poor bear was subsequently banned from any kitchen appliances aside from the fridge, microwave, and toaster.

His family had moved a lot over the years, and they made a final move just as Stormi entered his junior year.
