ADDITIONAL INFO - The two crystals on his pectoral fins used to both be Air crystals, but during his initial encounter with Vanessa, the left one was corrupted and changed into a Transformative crystal that's stuck in a permanent active state. As he isn't terribly accustomed to his form, he struggles to use the one undamaged Air crystal
- Kumo can fly rather high into the air, can travel quickly, and can support quite a bit of weight. He acts as a vehicle of transportation for Adrian and Lyra, akin to a magic carpet
| BIO Prince Kumo Kawakami is an easy example of a pompous, pretentious, self-important and conceited noble. He is the prince of the Sky Kingdom and second in line to inherit the royal throne, or at least he was before he disappeared. He carries the belief that he is better and above all others, and that everyone should fulfill his wishes. He is, as well, a firm believer that money and prestige will solve all of his problems. However, his recent transformation into a nubis manta has stripped both away from him. He has not become more humble in the slightest, only more grouchy. Disagreeable and argumentative, he is unpleasant to be around, but being brought down to earth—quite literally—has had a noticeable effect on his proud demeanor.
PAST (details still being worked out, so here's a streamlined version)
Kumo was the second born of the royal family of the Sky Kingdom, son of the king and queen, and as such, was blessed with an extremely privileged, affluent, and comfortable life. As he wasn't the heir, he enjoyed lacking many of the burdens of responsibility that were placed onto his elder brother. This resulted in a very spoiled childhood which shaped his nasty personality and disposition that he was above everyone. He was not without tasks; he was to inherit the throne if his brother died, so there were certain duties he had to carry out. Among those were diplomatic missions. He grew a resentment for having to do work, as he believed that work was for the lower people to do, forming a snobbish laziness.
During one diplomatic missions to the lands below, his party of advisors and guards was attacked by a wicked dark elf, Vanessa. Some cowardly guards attempted to flee but could not escape. Some noble ones tried to defend the young prince but were too weak. With his two Air crystals, Kumo attempted to fight back but was no match, but in a twist of luck and misfortune, a blast from Vanessa corrupted one of Kumo's crystals, transforming him into a magical manta ray. In the midst of the confusion, Kumo swiftly fled, successful in saving his own life. Now alone, he sought out a village to try and plead for aid, but on the way, he encountered poachers which quickly took interest in the magical creature. While attempting to capture Kumo, they were interrupted and defeated by two young travelers who just happened to be on the same quest, Lyra and Adrian. With nowhere else to go and no one else to turn to, Kumo sought the hospitality and company of the two. Through Adrian's convincing, Lyra begrudgingly agreed to take Kumo in.
CURRENT LIFE
Kumo Kawakami accompanies Adrian and Lyra, two adventurers traveling the continent and completing quests posted in towns. They seek a way to restore Kumo to his original sky elf form. Kumo seeks the comfort of his grand home in the skies, where he belongs, but lacks the means to get there. More than that, he wishes to rid himself of this nubis manta form. It seems their search will, in one way or another, lead them to Vanessa, the one responsible for the corruption of Kumo's crystal and his transformation.
RELATIONSHIPS Adrian || Teammate || Kumo holds a surprising amount of respect for Adrian, if only because they were the one who convinced Lyra to let him travel with them. Though he is reluctant to admit it, he appreciates all the care and hospitality the young elf offers him.
| Lyra || Teammate || Kumo and Lyra are incompatible, sharing a mutual intolerance of the other. Kumo is both hateful of Lyra and scared of her, as she doesn't seem afraid to use force to shut up his whining. Adrian is the only mediator, the only thing that is preventing the group from falling apart entirely due to these two's constant arguing and harassment of each other.
