Ophiotaurus Alaparos (Husband) | ♫ : Married for 5 years, Ilmatar holds Alaparos in high regard. They are the best of friends first and foremost, being spouses second, mostly because they married for tax benefits before learning to love each other. Their relationship is fundamentally built on mutual admiration and a desire for normalcy in their hectic lives, finding solace with each other and no matter how much work piles up they will always find the time to ground themselves through touch. While most people may see their relationship as unconventional, it certainly works for both of them. Alaparos is the temperament to Ilmatar's rashness while Ilmatar teaches Alaparos to reach out to others, both of them relying on the other to cover for their weakness and build each other up. They rarely fight and when they do, they usually makeup within the week, their rational trains of thought leading to quick resolutions to important conflicts. In public, the two are quite reserved in their affections, keeping a professional air about them, with the only indication that they are even in a relationship being the constant hand Ilmatar has on Alaparos' shoulder. In private, Ilmatar is usually the pillow for Alaparos' head but neither shows all that much affection to one another, content in letting the other do what they need to do undisturbed. For a couple in a romantic relationship, it sure doesn't seem like they are to the extent that there was a running bet on whether or not the two are together or have been dancing around it. Their story isn't a happy one, however, and cursed with immortality while their husband serves the god of the underworld, Ilmatar will most likely never see Alaparos again as the fates have cursed them to lives of solitude. But perhaps with the help of their son and the god's favour, they may meet once again away from the prying eyes of the goddess who abandoned them.

Ouburos Jesse (Son) | ♫ : Ilmatar has a push and pull relationship with their son, with both of them being too stubborn to admit out loud that they love each other. While Ilmatar genuinely worries for their son and tries to be the best mother they can be for their child, Jesse certainly views them as very naggy and overprotective. It doesn't help that in certain timelines Ilmatar is a bit of an absent parent, busy with their work to properly care for Jesse and often leaving their husband to care for their child. As Jesse is a result of an experiment conducted by Ilmatar to see if cosmo could be combined in the womb to create new life, Jesse often feels as if they're simply a byproduct of that experiment and that their parents don't truly love them while Ilmatar has lingering guilt of assigning lesser importance to someone who is biologically their son. Despite their mutual problems coming to terms about their feelings about each other, they both love each other very much, willing to sacrifice themselves for each other if it came down to it. They are both two very broken creatures who can't piece themselves together using each other but they can certainly sand down their rough edges.

Taurus Aldebaran (Son) | ♫ : Ilmatar certainly has a better relationship with their eldest son compared to Jesse, the two of them bonding over their shared love for nature. Aldebaran was the one who kept Ilmatar's garden long after his mother had left, keeping the small sanctuary thriving even when its original owner had abandoned it. Ilmatar considers Aldebaran to be the last piece of their husband and their happiness left and fought tooth to nail to take him with them in exile but the two were ultimately separated by the Pope. Aldebaran dearly loves his mother but holds slight resentment against them as he believes that Ilmatar simply left without a word, leaving him behind. The two never reunited until the 2000's when his father took Aldebaran up to the surface to finally meet his mother again. The rift between the two is still large as Ilmatar believes that they have failed as a mother to give Aldebaran the happy household he rightfully deserves and for disappearing on him so suddenly, guilt weighing them down from properly reconnecting with their son, while Aldebaran is more than willing to forgive his mother if only they would open up. One day they will become the picturesque family they had once been, happy and content with their lot in life but for now, the broken family has a lot of healing to do.

Aquarius Tahki (Best Friend/Sibling) | ♫ (Tw: light mention of self-harm within the translated lyrics) : Tahki was the first person who met Ilmatar when they first moved into Sanctuary, immediately befriending them because of his proximity to the Ophiuchus Temple. Ilmatar regards Tahki as the elder sibling that Ilmatar should have had but never did. They are a family of choice and who says that a family can't be an emotionally stunted doctor with issues that when listed would go through all 12 houses and a traumatized yet motherly saint of questionable gender with a penchant for adopting everyone in sight first and asking questions later? Tahki has even been gifted with the title of "Auncle Tah" by Ilmatar's children. With Tahki's sage-like wisdom and calm personality, she is capable of giving sound council to Ilmatar in their times of need, acting as their cheering squad and the encouragement they need to get through their day. Tahki is the reason why Ilmatar hasn't been arrested for countless charges of 2nd-degree murder but definitely encourages their more bloodthirsty side even playing relationship councilor for Ilmatar and Alaparos when the two were starting to develop a romantic interest in each another. They are fire and ice, each edging the other to do better and better, carving a path of destruction in their wake. If it weren't for Tahki's assistance, it is likely that Ilmatar could never have escaped Sanctuary the way that they did with minimal wounds, his interference and distraction providing the exiled saint with the opening they needed to gather what they needed to create a new life. Tahki never saw Ilmatar until the 2000's when he followed a rumor of an extraordinary doctor living in Germany who could perform miracles only to find her best friend at the center of it all. Tahki died while in the care of Ilmatar, being the last saint of his generation, with a happy smile finally reunited with her family.

Kelpie Nyima (Pseudo Daughter): A year before their banishment, Ilmatar chanced upon a young girl hiding in their gardens, scared out of her mind. Taking the girl in and hiding her away from the prying eyes of the Pope, Ilmatar nursed the weakened Nyima back to health before giving her a choice. Return to Jamir where her talents will be honed and eventually used and potentially exploited for the war that would inevitably come to pass, or find a place with the Marina where she will be loved and treasured not only for her smithing talents but also for who she is. She will be targeted on both sides, and she will undoubtedly be the linchpin to any victory but which god to serve will be her choice and only hers to make. Ultimately Nyima chose to go with the Marina and the two parted ways there through Ilmatar stayed in her mind as one of the first people who gave her a semblance of a home.

Virgo Purala (Co-worker): These two have a complicated relationship. They can't be considered friends nor enemies, sitting somewhere in the awkward space of "I work with you and tolerate you I guess". Ilmatar despises the two-faced persona Purala has, acting kind and maternal while her Cosmo is corrupted and twisted by malevolent forces but on the other hand Purala is wary of the insubordination and disregard Ilmatar holds for the Pope. Ilmatar only began to hate her once they learned that Purala was the one who orchestrated their husband's death and the death of half of the gold saints in their generation though at that point, there was nothing they could do about it.

Alihuen Hyde (Enemy) | ♫ : Their relationship boils down to "My name is Ilmatar, you killed my husband, prepare to die!". Ilmatar has a deep-seated grudge against the spectre who killed their husband and that spectre just so happens to be Hyde. It goes to the extent that Ilmatar decided to move near Heinstein Castle in order to catch a glimpse of Hyde and hopefully murder his scrawny ass. 

Lovi and Väinämöinen (Pets): With Väinämöinen being a gift from their biological father, Ilmatar treasures their pets quite a lot. Väinämöinen in particular as he was the last reminder of Ilmatar's biological family, the one sign that perhaps their father did love them. As a Finnish Lapphund, Väinämöinen is extremely loyal and eager, serving not only as Ilmatar's eyes when they were still learning to use their cosmo but also as their fluffy alarm clock. While not specifically trained to be a therapy dog, Väinämöinen did often serve as one for Ilmatar, keeping his owner company on the long nights when sleep was scarce and their mind was too loud. He passed away a month before Ilmatar escaped from the sanctuary and is buried in Ilmatar's garden under the apple tree. Lovi was acquired after Ilmatar settled down in Germany, stolen from the underworld after they were cursed with immortality and was barred entrance from the underworld as a whole. While Lovi doesn't serve as Ilmatar's eyes being blind herself, she still does her part around Ilmatar's clinic by comforting and accompanying children to their appointments. Lovi's venom has been used multiple times by Ilmatar to create different drugs and cures most of which are hailed as miracle medicines. Ilmatar treasures Lovi greatly and has a small room just for her in their home.
