Myrine's family was never really the best at being, well, a family. Since she was young she could tell her sister was extremely stressed out and very volatile. It was never directed towards Myrine at all, but the arguements with their parents were consistent and on routine. However, Myrine always got Eurydice's soft side. It was comforting because her sister was the most positive attention she got growing up.

Their father was always loud and angry, if anything came from his mouth it was probably an insult or a swear. Their mother wasn't much better, despite being very passive she had a habit of breaking things that were either Eurydice's or Myrine's, especially if Myrine messed up in school in some way or another. Myrine was a lot younger than Eurydice, about 9 years younger, but with her parent's behavior she had a tendency to bring things that she found important to her to school at risk of her parents taking it or tearing it apart. As mentioned her older sister didn't put up much with their parent's shit and would get into serious fights with them, one even knocking out one of their mother's teeth. Her sister was her only real comfort in her world so it came to much sadness to her when as soon as she turned 9 her sister moved out. Eurydice promised to Myrine she would be back soon however, so Myrine waited.

A year with her parents was nearing to be impossible, her mother's constant bickering about a 10 year old's grades and any shit her father brought up at this point she felt was solely just to make Myrine cry. It was a miracle Myrine was able to keep her friend's gameboy hidden from them, along with any stuffed animal she managed to hide in her book bags or by keeping them at her school. She grew more and more reserved, and yet, volatile much like her sister was. It wasn't unusual for Myrine to get into fights at school which only ended in more scoldings from her already annoying parents. Just a year, all it took was a year.

A year and finally Eurydice came back.

Myrine noticed their sister's attitude was different, she was oddly chipper, happy, nothing like the angry mess she was before leaving the house only a year ago. She managed to convince her parents to take Myrine for the week, Myrine was excited but was also saddened that it'd only be a week. A week and then back to this mess.

It was probably one of the best weeks Myrine had in their life so far. Eurydice seemed to of been doing well for herself, but Myrine wasn't sure what her job was as Eurydice was always very vague about it. Regardless, she had fun with her sister, and when it came to going back to her home she was less than thrilled.

I guess however it's funny how quickly things can change in your life in a week. Myrine's memory of what happened was so hazey as she was half asleep as Eurydice drove her home. She remembers getting out of the car, following eurydice to the house, she watched Eurydice stick her head into the house, stare into the home for a few seconds (maybe minutes?) before slamming the door in a panic, screeching, and pushing Myrine back to the car as she quickly called the delta police. Myrine remembers her sister's franticness, her sobbing, and her repeating "my parents are dead."

Investigation, a cold case, and then legal papers. Myrine still can't entirely process what happened, her parents were murdered in the night while she was with her sister, but she couldn't help but to not feel sad about the event. If anything it was something akin to maybe joy. No more arguing, no more yelling, no more having to hide items from their own family. Eurydice took over as their legal guardian, and has been since, for 5 years now.

While she can't say she really misses her parents, she really DOES wonder what happened on that night.
