Dr. Shiloh Rallen is a no-nonsense individual with a passion for medicine and an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. Although he is devoted to caring for his patients, his interests tend to be self-serving as he is always looking for a patient who could be the catalyst of a revolutionary experiment which he pioneers. He often comes across as arrogant and shows little interest in mingling with those he considers to be beneath himself. A classic perfectionist, Shiloh holds great disdain for things falling out of their order and does not respond well to others challenging his authority.

Although fiercely intelligent, Shiloh's crassness and lack of empathetic social skills often prevent him from reaching his full potential. While he is heralded by some as a miracle worker for his prowess in medicine and the biological sciences, he is equally criticized for his poor bedside manner and lack of trust in others. Shiloh allows very few people to assist him with his work, and he only chooses those who he feels are no threat to his success to fulfill this role. Despite his disdain for laziness and poor work ethic, Shiloh has a tendency to hire assistants that possess such traits. If only to keep himself poised above others.

Unable to cope with the strict confines of mainstream medicine and bored with the typical cases he saw day-to-day, Shiloh opened his own underground clinic in the technologically advanced city of Selnaire where he offers his services to the less privileged (and sometimes less human). His only other staff is a young, freshly turned vampire named Salvador who works as his devoted medical assistant. Although Shiloh often berates the young man, Sal is able to take his verbal lashings and often gives the man a taste of his own medicine. Through time, Sal's persistence has forged a sense of respect from Shiloh and although he rarely shows it, he looks fondly upon his colleague. He also has a white Persian cat named Priscilla which he unabashedly lavishes affection on.

Early Childhood

Shiloh was born to two young parents, both in their early twenties at the time of his birth. His conception was accidental and his parents were not prepared to raise a child. As a result, Shiloh was given only the bare minimum amount of attention in his younger years. While his most basic needs were met, his emotional ones were often left neglected. 

It wasn't until he started elementary school that Shiloh began to show signs of far exceeding his peers in academia. He was noted by many of his teachers to be a gifted child who scored several grade levels above the one he was in, with a particular knack for mathematics and science. Obsessed with the praise that he received from his teachers, Shiloh began to solely focus on his studies. After all, the validation that he lacked at home was finally being given at school. He began to feel as though his only value was his intellect, and as such, it was the only part of himself he ever paid any mind to.

However, Shiloh's highly competitive and stand-offish nature often left him friendless. This only furthered his warped belief that he would only be valued by society if he became the best at everything he did. In high school, he was the valedictorian of his class and was accepted to a prestigious college. In college, he choose the highly competitive major of biochemistry, graduated summa cum laude, and was accepted into medical school. In medical school, he graduated top of his class and matched into a top residency program in internal medicine.

All of these accolades ultimately left him empty, so he did what he always had; married himself to his work. Shiloh's incapacity to work with others began to present more problems in his professional life, with many of his co-workers beginning to resent his poor bedside manner and stubborn nature. Due to this, Shiloh was often transferred to different clinics and hospitals in hopes that he would find a team he could jive with. However, this unfortunately would never happen, and after one particularly tumultuous butting of heads he decided to set his sights on opening his own clinic.

Shiloh is a staunch believer in the philosophy of 'the ends justify the means.' If you accomplish a valuable scientific task, the results of that experimentation is justified; even if it may have been unethical. Because of this, Shiloh would often lure in patients who had been turned away by previous physicians in hopes of using them as a catalyst to further his research. Shiloh has an obsession with forging a legacy for himself, he yearns to be the next great scientist whose research is rigorously documented in future texts. He will stop at almost nothing to see that goal through until the end, and this makes him somewhat dangerous.
