Lilysse is a playable character that appears in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. She is at the Officers Academy who is from the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and is a member of the Blue Lions. She possesses a minor Crest of Saint Macuil and she is 16 years old at the start of the game. 

Profile

During the Academy Phase, Lilysse has medium length black hair tied up into a yakai-maki hairstyle with a thick blue ribbon. She has a thick straight bangs with two short locks of hair on either sides of her face. Lilysse has a pale skin and white eyes. She wears peach lipstick and nail polish. She also wears earing which are composed of three round golden pearls, one small and two bigger and a bigger one which is in deep, luminous blue.

She is wearing the classical uniform of the Officers Academy which is composed of a closed black jacket with a gold colored front and three pair of black buttons for closure. She has puffy sleeves on top with a grey braid and gold stripes hanging out of the lace, the bottom of the sleeves also has a gray braid lace and is gold at the very bottom. She has gold shoulder pads with below a gold pattern. The top of the jacket is gold with a gold braid lace. Lilysse also weras a black skirt with gold patterns and stripes on it. The skirt also has little golden decorations. She didn't custom her uniform that much except for the deep blue bow around her neck below the golden decoration, her thights high stocking which are in the same color and a pair of short black boots with a golden stripe on top and black high heels.

During the War Phase, Lilysse has longer black hair tied up into two braids that are put one below the other at the back of her head. Below her braids she has a little blue ribbon as an accessory in her hair. She has a thinner bangs and the two locks on either sides of her hair remains short but thinner too. Lilysse always wears the same makeup and earrings as the Academy Phase.

Lilysse is wearing a white dress with a golden pattern over her chest, she also has long sleeves with white furr around the half of her wrists. The sleeves are attached to both of her middle fingers and they are tied around her neck with a yellow ribbon with a golden jewelry which take the form of the Crest of Saint Macuil. She also wears a blue winter coat with white furr around the edge and on each shoulder she has the same shaped jewelry she has on her ribbon around her neck which tied two blue ribbons below. Her dress is slit pn both sides with on each hips two blue ribbons tied with two jewelry shaped in the Crest of Saint Macuil. The bottom of her dress is blue with two golden stripes to separate the blue from the white and she has two blue "stars" with a dark blue inside on the fron and one on the back of th dress. Under it, she wears a thight a dark blue skirt. Lilysse wears thight which are white and she has a pair of deep blue high heels shoes with a golden edge on top and black soles.

Early Life

After the creation of the Leicester Alliance, 300 years before Lilysse's birth, the family was a family of minor nobles who lived in the Adrestian Empire but the territory they had was difficult to cultivate and the family struggled to support their people who suffered from starvation. The family decided to leave their title and give their territory to a more powerful noble house and then left the Empire to established themself in the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. The family was previously known to be a family of powerful mages and the owner of a rare Crest, the Crest of Saint Macuil. Thanks to thoses qualities, the King gaves them a noble title and a field which is now the Marquisate Heimdallr. To reapeat what happended in the Empire, the family developed it's art market in their territory in order to buy food and weapons for their people. A move that made the Marquisate wealthy and attractive for painters. The family has gained more prestige and is now a part of the major nobles of the Kingdom.

Academy Phase

Lilysse enrolls in Garreg Mach Monastery Officers Academy in Imperial year 1180 and joins the Blue Lions under its house leader Dimitri. She is the heir of the Marquisate Heimdallr. It was her father who forces her to go at the Academy in order to help Lilysse to make friends since she decided to withdraw from the world to study magic after the death of her older sister.

When she is not in class, she is often in the Greenhouse.

War Phase

Should Lilysse be recruited but has been defeated in Classic Mode during the Academy Phase, she will returns to her house after the battle of Garreg Mach and will manifest the same symptoms of the illness that took away her mother and sister. She is unable to make it to the promised reunion five years later and her fate is left unknown but she would probably die from the ill.

In all routes except Crimson Flower, she will return to her house in the Marquisate Heimdallr before the day of promise.

Personality

At the start of the game, Lilysse has a smiling figure with a kind and polite demanor but when people tries to be closer to her, her smile become more like a wall between her and the others as she was so close but at the same time, so far from people around them, like she was innacessible. Like she didn't need friends. Her classemates understand that despite her kindness, Lilysse is rather a distant person. She is also a very calm person she is so calm that she never ever shout at someone even if she is angry She is also a person who value effort in works and she is a hard working person especially when it comes to magical knowledge.

Her distant behavior came from the fact that her mother and her older sister died from a ill and this deeply cut into the young girl who develope a fear to getting attached to someone else in fear of losing them permanantly, a fear of the death of her loved ones.

Thanks to Dimitri who understood that Lilysse has a fear to get attached to people but her kind and caring demanore says that Lilysse doesn't want to spend her life alone. He offer his helps to her by telling her that in the Academy, a lot of people want to know her and be close to her. And if she works with the, she will be able to protect them and keep them alive. It was something that Lilysse really needed to hear, somthing that could make her move forward. She will tries to entrust him, feeling that Dimitri is sincere to her eyes. She will tries to be more open to her classmates and befriend them. She will be geniuily touched that he makes a step toward her to help her. Lilysse will still be caring and kind but her simle will no longer feel like a wall. Despite the fact that Lilysse is often smiling, she rarely laugh. She is also an empathic person as she tries to understand Sylvain view about his older brother which is very different from the relationship that Lilysse has with her older sister. After becoming more open to her classmates, Lilysse shows a more emotionate side of her personality.

Lilysse is also close to her father since he is her only family left. He also taught her about bottany and how plant can be used in medcine. Teachings that Lilysse took to heart. Since Heimdallr is famous for its artists and its art bussiness, Fenris also taught Lilysse to love and apreciate art, especially paintings. Lilysse is also a pious person. She was used to pray the Goddess with her family and continue to pray with her father even after the death of her mother and sister. In her support with Mercedes, Lilysse says that she often asks th Goddess to protect her classmates and take care of her mother and sister.

During the War phase, despite her hate for violence, Lilysse join the war alongside her classmates. Following whet she trust; If she wants people she loves to live, she has to stop being passive and has to tries to protect them and the world she loves. In all of the routes she will be affected by Dimitri's changes and being geniuily sad and affected when she learnd that dies in Verdent Wind and Silver Snow. She also feels realy down after the battle at Gronder when Dimitri and Dedue treats her like a traitor if she is recruted.

Lilysse has, as an habit, whe she is alone she sings and sometimes dance too. She tries to keeps thoses hobbies secrets but it seems that almost everyone knew what Lilysse enjoy doing during her free time. She thinks that she is better at dancing than singing. It's two activites she learn from her mother and sister and something she usualy do when she is alone or when the war burden her too much, she dance under the light of the stars while singing. Lilysse likes stargazing and she has numerous knowledges about stars and constellations. Indeed she often read books about stars and celestial phenomenas. She often look at the stars when she is dancing. She also like botany she has knowledge in flowers and herboristery, flower language, and also medical knowlegde. Lilysse learnd everything she could about medical knowledge in order to treat any kind of illness because due to the death of her mother when she was young, she has a fear of illness. Lilysse also loves fashion and accessories and take a lot of care about her appearence especialy the way she ties her hair up. She also says that she likes to read romance book, another proof that Lilysse doesn't want to spend her life alone despites her previous fears. She is someone who value family as she loves dearly her father and her late mother and sister.

She has troubles to voice out her problems or put words to them. Despite being far from being a shy person she will often remains indecisive when her comrads wants to know what bother her. She also admits that she has a little knowledge about the rest of the world or about the Adrestian Empire and the Leicester Alliance excluding their history, since she never go outside the Kingdom and only know her hometown, Heimdallr but she is curious about what the Empire and the Alliance and what the world has to offers beyond Fódlan. Lilysse says that she can do simple recipies quite well she thinks she is good at cooking but she is in fact pretty average. She is also an unskilled designer and painter.

During the Academy Phase, Lilysse has a deep admiration for Cornelia. She thought that she was an incredible woman for putting an end to the deasese which plagued the capital as well as a strong mage with a lot of knowledge. Lilysse always took at heart what Cornelia said to her about her abilities toward magic and always follow her advices for her magic learning and training. It gave to Lilysse the dream of being a mage that could help the others thanks to her knowledge, things that could be useful as the furure Marchioness Heimdallr. During the War Phase Lilysse view about Cornelia slowly change. She still admire her for what she has done for her and the kingdom but the young laday start to feel guilty to have admired someone who did so much arm to her homeland despite not understanding what could have cause so much change in Cornelia's personality. Executing Dimitri, giving the Kingdom to the Empire and forced her father to surrender to her and giving the the Marquisate Heimdallr to the Empire. But she will have mixed feeling about the fact that she will has to face her and kill her since Cornelia is the person who inspire Lilysse to be the mage she is now.

Lilysse likes dancing and singing, lily flowers, books about bottany, reading, learning new forms of magic and astronomy. She dislikes violence, bitter food and heat, like most of the people from the Kingdom.

Recruitment

Lilysse will be automatically be recruited if Byleth chooses to teach the Blue Lions house in Chapter 1.

If Byleth choose to teach the Golden Deer house, Lilysse can transfer to their class if Byleth has enough Strength stat and a high enough Authority proeficiency. The player can decrease the required threshold if the player has a support rank with her, and upon reaching a B+ rank, she may ask to join your class on a free weekday (even if the Strenght stat or Authority rank is not high enough).

If Byleth chose to teach the Black Eagles house, Lilysse will not transfer to this house for the majority of the Academy Phase. During Chapter 11, if the player sides with Edelgard, then Lilysse cannot be recruited whatsoever. However, if the player sides with the Church of Seiros instead, then she may transfer to the Black Eagles house much like with the Golden Deer house. Note that the player will only be able to recruit her during the next chapter, as this is the last chapter of the Academy Phase.

Overall

Lilysse is the second mage of the Blue Lions. She is tied with both Annette and Mercedes in terms of their magic growth. She has an excellent Magic, good Resistance and Speed, average Luck and HP. Like the other mages orented character in the game she has a poor Strength and Defense and she is still a little bit fragile compare to Annette and Dorothea when it comes to her physical bulk. She possesses a minor Crest of Saint Macuil which can occasionaly raise the damages of a magic attack and her Personal Ability, Stellar Tranquility, give adjacents allied units Avoid +10 which is a good support skill in the game.

Since she is the daughter of a family of stong mages, Lilysse is proficient in Faith, Reason and proficient in Flying with weakness in Brawl, Axe and Armor. Lilysse fit naturally the Monk class line and can both become a Priest then a Bishop with an helpful offensive white magic pool. Unfortunatly she lakes of an access to Physic. She can also become a Mage then a Warlock with her offensive magic pool and the acess to Meteor and Excalibur which is effective against Flying foes. She can, as a master class, have an easy accress to the Gremory class. Lilysse can, like Dorothea, also become a Myrmidon (Mercenary, Swordmaster and Mortal Savant) with her budding talent in Sword but with her low phisical bulk and low Strenght limits her utility. However, thanks to her budding talent, she can also unlock the Combat Art Soulblade which is a magic Combat Art. She can use the Levin Sword to maximise her damages which is a good weapon choice for Lilysse in this class. As a Mortal Savant, Lilysse will have acess to her magic pool but with master class are mostly avaliable in the second part of the game which can reduce Lilysse utility. She can also become a Holy Knight or a Dark Knight but with her neutralily in Lance and Ridding can make the access to the class a little bit difficult for her. Thanks to being proefficient in Flying, Lilysse can have an easier acess to the Falcon Knight class but her neutrality in Lances can make it a little longer. Also since she has a low Strenght she will have troubles to be make good damages without her Combat Art. As the unique bearer of the Crest of Saint Macuil, she is the only playable character able to use the Asteria's Regalia's full effect, having increased regeneration when equipped.

Lilysse can easily acess the DLC class Dark Flier and gain the avantage of the mount units and their mobility. Thanks to being proefficient in Flying, Lilysse can easily unlock Alert Stance then Alert Stance + combined with, Faith Lv5 or Reason Lv5, and Duelist's Blow thanks to the Trickster DLC class, Lilysse can have Avoid +60 total and with her good Speed, become extremly evasive toward enemy attacks. With her strength in Faith and her budding talent in Sword, Lilysse can have access to an other DLC class, Trickster if she succeed the Thief class before. Lilysse, with her magic pool, can also access to the Valkyrie class with enough efforts in ridding.

Lilysse can also fit the Dancer class. With her good Charm stat she can easily win the White Heron Cup. She can attack with her high Magic Stat, heal an ally who is far from her thanks to her access to Physic and, as a Dancer, can make an other move to an ally. With an high avoid rate thaks to Sword Avoid +20, Duelist's Blow and Sword Prowess Lv5, she can evade most of the enemy attacks with a total of Avoid +60 and thanks to her high Speed, she can esaly avoid enemy attacks. She can acess to Alert Stance and Allert Stance + with some efforts in Flying, if Lilysse is equiped with a sword and didn't act for the turn, she can have Avoid +50 At the start of the enemmy phase. The growth stats penalilty the class give to Lilysse dosen't hurt her that much since the class reduce the growth of Strength, Resistance and Defense which are not the bests assets for Lilysse except for the Resistance stat.

Overall, Lilysse can make a good offensive mage thanks to her Magic stat, magic pool and Speed. She possesses an offensive white magic pool and a good black magic pool. She can fit to most of the magic classes and has a good versatility in thoses classes with her strenght in both black and white magic. Her budding talent in Sword gives her the acess to Soulblade and her Personal Ability, Lilysse can offer a good support if she is next to an ally. But she laks of versatility in all class which not use magic and due to her low Defense she can be countered very easily by lot of the physical units in the game such as Hilda.

"Entrusting the future of Fódlan to his friends, Claude left for Almyra with Lilysse, whom he intended to marry. He announced this fact to his father, the king of Almyra, who approved of Claude's strength and Lilysse's kindness and resolved to entrust the monarchy to them. After becoming a king, Claude showed Lilysse all the places he loved in Almyra to her delight and amazement. Claude started to negotiate with Lilysse's father in order to develop an art market route between the two countries. With the help of Lilysse and the Marquess curiosity towards new art styles, it was an easy steps. Lilysse and Dedue

"After the war, Lilysse become the new Marchioness Heimdallr. After one year, the Dimitri asks her to put her magic knowledges to the service of the Kingdom. When she went back to the castle, she was reunited with Dedue again. Both served Dimitri with loyalty. When Dedue has to go on the battlefield, Lilysse was always there to support him and when he returns to the castle, she was always there to heal his injuries and she always gave him some flowers. It was said that the two of them were close to each other so close that they ended up getting married. After their marriage, both of them remains at the castle, doing dutyfully their work. They were often seen gardening togather in the castle gardens during their free time at work."

Sylvain always took a great care of Lilysse and the couple build an happy family and home. The couple had many children. It was said that none of them bore a Crest of Saint Macuil but regardless if they bore a crest or not they were all equally loved by their parents. In her Diary, Lilysse said that she was never alone surrounded by her family."

"At the end of the war, Sylvain inherite the title of the Margrave Gautier and Lilysse left the role and the title of the Marchioness Heimdallr to her father's discretion. Lilysse was supprised to often saw Sylvain on her territory. When she tries to talk to him about his prensence in the Marquisate, he always took her out for dinner or for a tea and always bourght her lily flowers as gifts. After managing to confront him about that, he said he needed to see her and want to marry her. After a few attempted meurders by Lilysse's overprotective father who known Sylvain's reputation, she finally accept Sylvain's proposal trusting the sincerity of his feeling after surviving the warth of her father. After their marriage, Sylvain took great care of Lilysse under her father watch to Lilysse uncomfortableness. It was said two of them lived happily until the end of their life."

Lilysse and Felix (Azure Moon)

"After the war, Felix inherited the title of Duke Fraldarius from his late father, Rodrigue. A few times later, he married Lilysse, both of them worked to restaure the territorie. All of their freinds from the Officers Academy were still schoked that the two of them endded up together to Lilysse's amusement and Felix's annoyence. Felix served the king as his retainer while Lilysse became a mage serving the Kingdom thanks to her knowledge. When he was going on a mission, Lilysse was always worried for him and some of the people who worked at the castle saw Felix giving Lilysse a headpat to reassure her."

"Even after the war's end, skirmishes continued to break out across Fódlan. Learning that there were still places where he could fight, Felix abandoned his noble title and chose to make a living with his sword. He traveled the land, seeking battle as if he had a death wish, but his violent path came to an end when he arrived at a house in a forrest. He was reunited with Lilysse who have left her noble title in order to become a benevolent healer. She healed his injuries and touched by her kindness toward other, he finally spend more time in the house in the forrest with Lilysse than he expected."

Lilysse and Linhardt

"After the war Linhardt abandoned his noble title in order to live a simple life and continue his Crest research. Years laters he arrived to the Marquisate Heimdallr and was reunited with Lilysse who was beame the new Marchioness of the teritorry. He spend some times in her mansion in order to pursue his Crest reaserch always in the company of Lilysse who took care of him. After some years, Lilysse left her noble title and withdrew with Linhardt in a house near a lake. The two of them spend their rest of their lifes in a modest way, fully appreciating the peace, freedom and the art of fishing."

Lilysse and Ignatz

"After the end of the war, Lilysse took her responsabilities toward her father and became the Marchioness Heimdallr. She helped a lot to restaure her territory esspecialy the art market. Some years later, she was reunited by chance with Ignatz, who had persuaded his family that he should become a painter and traveled all through Fódlan painting beautiful landscapes. He often tried to make the most beautiful portrait of his wife. The couple started to travel accross Fódlan and the right opportunity to paint her was when she was stargazing in field of lily flowers. He also tried to teach Lilysse how to paint but she never make any noticable progress..."

Lilysse and Dorothea

"After the end of the war, Lilysse took her responsabilities toward her father and became the Marchioness Heimdallr. She helped a lot to restaure her territory. After all of her work dutyfully done, she left her house and noble title to join Dorothea, who had returned to prominence with the Mittelfrank Opera Company. Lilysse join the Opera Company and was often on the stage with Dorothea, dancing while Dorothea was singing. Both of them have never been so happy when they were on the stage, side by side. When they were older, they lived togather in hapiness without running out of anything."

Lilysse and Hilda

"After the end of the war, Lilysse took her responsabilities toward her father and became the Marchioness Heimdallr. She helped a lot to restaure her territory. During her tiring work, she alwyas wrote letters to her dear friend Hilda who told her that she intend to start an artisant academy. Lilysse always suported her by providing her art supplies from the Heimdallr territory and a financial support. After her work dutyfully done, Lilysse went to visit Hilda to saw by herself the school that her friend created. During their time togather, the two of them spends hours disscussing about fashion and various subjects over a cup of tea like the good old times at the Officers Academy."

Etymology

Lilysse is composed of Lily, an English name, which is a short version of the name Elisabeth, which comes from the Hebrew "elîsaba" which means "God is fullness". It can also comes from the the Latin word "lilium" which means "pure", "passion" or "rebirth" it also comes from the flower of the same name. The flower symbolizes purity, peace, rebirth, sweetness and innocent beauty. And her name is composed of the word Lys is the french name of the flower Lily.

Ethelle is a short version for the English name "Ethel" which means "noble maiden". Ethel can also mean "star" in old english.

Heimdallris composed of "Heim" which mean "house" and "-dall" which in old norse means "who prosper". There is also another interpretation of the name which is "Pillar of the world". Heimdall or Heimdallr was an Ase God in the norse mythology who was the guardian of Bifröst, the rainbow bridge which separate Asgard from the inferior worlds.

• Lilysse shares her Japanese voice actress, Saori Hayami, with Chloé (from Engage) and with Caeda (from Archanea Series).
  
• Lilysse shares her English voice actress, Amalee, with Lucia (from Tellius Series), as well as Elimine (from The Binding Blade) in her appearance in Fire Emblem Heroes.
  
• Like Hilda, if the player chose the Black Eagle, Lilysse's lost items will still appears, but they can't be returned unless the player commit to the Silver Snow path, at which point Lilysse can be interacted with like any other student.

• She can't be recruited in the Crimson Flower path.
