PROFILE
Helaku is the son of the chief of the Etuni tribe on planet Khela and the spirit of Forelife and Birth. His name means sunshine and it fits 100%.
Helaku lives on planet Khela, in a region named Raica, and belongs to the tribe Etuni. His father is extremely strict and has exact plans for his children, and Helaku being trans wasn't one of them, but he eventually accepted it as it was only good - that way, he could put Helaku as their next chief.
Helaku is rather shy, and therefore isn't very happy about his destiny, but he is always optimistic and believes in his friends and family and will never give up on anyone. He has a very close relationship to his twin sister Yoki, who suffers from insomnia and various mental health issues due to the fact that their father treats her very poorly as she doesn't want to accept her fathers plans for her.
Helaku is a High Chimaera, which means he is mainly human but has a few animal traits. In his case, these are the Buffalo horns and moth wings. Helaku couldn't fly with his wings for a long time since he had a non-discovered mental block on all of his magic abilities in his early childhood, but relearns all of them after finding out he is chosen by Etune to be the spirit of Forelife and Birth while his sister is the chosen spirit of Afterlife.
PERSONALITY

Helaku is a helpless optimistic, meaning he always shines like the sun. He will harldy show any other emotions to people who aren't close to him, but is very sensitive and understands other peoples fears, needs, and other bad feelings. He always puts people around him before himself, sometimes even neglecting his own health but smiling nontheless. He listenes to his twin sisters problems and supports her a lot. Without him, she probably wouldn't have lived anymore. He is an introvert and hates talking in front of other people, which is why he doesn't like the idea of being the future chief.
Nevertheless, he would always fight for what is right for him and his loved ones. He is often insecure about his own strenghts and skills, but if he has to fight he will never back down or even hesitate.

- HOBBY: He loves swimming in his free time. Water seems to be his element, although people find it weird since his moth wings are super sensible to water and if he gets them wet, they might be damaged forever. However, he can shift his appearance more towards human with some effort so his wings won't get wet.

- Helaku hates heights, and you won't get him on top of something more than one meter above the ground.
- Helakus mind supresses his magic since his early childhood due to a trauma. He is not aware of any of his magic abilities and wonders why his wings are not useful for flying, but is also thankful for it since... yknow. Flying would include lifting your feet off the ground.
- The only magic Helaku can conciously cast is shifting slightly more into human (like every member of his tribe as they are all chimaera) This lets him hide his wings when he wants to swim for example. It needs quite a bit of energy, so mostly Helaku keeps his chimaeran body like it is: With the horns of a water bull and the wings of a moth.
- Being a high chimaera means having more human parts than animal ones.
- Helaku is trans (he was assigned female at birth) but he discovered it very early and his mother and sister always supported him from day 1.
- Helaku and all the people in his tribe don't count years, but cycles of the planet Etune, which appears every 5-6 years on the night sky over Khela and is the main resource of time the Etuni Tribe calculates with. There are no seasons and therefore no years in their time calculation. The sun is always at the same place and has the same intensity.
Helaku was born when the first rays of sunshine met the lands after a stormy night, his twin sister only a few minutes before, when the night was still dark, rainy, and cold. This is how their mother chose their names: Helaku means "the sun is shining" and Yoki means "it rained". (Helaku's birth name means deer, but his mother quickly noticed it didnt fit him well in any way so she started calling him Helaku when Helaku asked for a male name at the age of 5. Their mother Eyela dies when the twins were only 1 full Etune (5-6 year cycle), they were about 8 years in exact.
Eyela's death marks Helaku for his whole life. His mother dies while giving birth, and the young Helaku tried to save his little brother who fearfully screamed at Helaku through Helakus magic. He didn't notice his mother was dying as well. When his father arrives and sees both his mother and newborn child dead, next to a sobbing Helaku, he shouts at him, asking why he hadn't called for help, and when Helaku tells him that he had thought he could save his brother with his special powers, his father only shakes his head and slaps him on the face with the words:
"Don't ever think you have any special powers. You could have saved your mother."
The young Helaku believes his father and starts unconciously supressing his magic abilities, eventually believing he doesn't have any magic powers in the first place.
Helakus and Yokis father is the chief of the Etuni tribe, he is extremely strict and has already planned both his children’s lives beforehand. He isn't supporting Helaku as much as his mother was, but accepts Helakus and his fate as it actually helps him keep the power (only male descendants can be the next chief). While Helaku is therefore supposed to be the future chief, Yoki should marry one of the allied tribes’ chiefs to enforce the alliance.
Helaku is shy and hates speaking in front of a lot of people, but his father tolerates him since he never complains and is compliant. Yoki however fell from her father’s grace because she claims to have magic abilities. There had never been more than one shaman every hundred years and the current shaman already has a student, and because Yoki cannot prove her abilities, their father assumes she is a liar and just wants to be rebellious. Helaku is the only one who believes her and comforts her during the night if she had visions and bad dreams again. Yokis visions start when they are about 3 Etune, and during teenage years, Yoki is therefore mentally very weak and extremely depressed, so Helaku takes care of her a lot.
One day, Yoki finds a gravely wounded person in the woods, and Helaku and her save him together, although finding out he is from an enemy tribe of shapeshifters in the east of the land. They find out he has been expelled and therefore now lives in the forest near them. Both agree he cannot be found by their dad and they continue helping him.
Helaku eventually falls in love with him and Kiaan, the young shapeshifter, reciprocates these feelings. However, Helakus father already has chosen a wife for him and Helaku agreed to marry her of pure fear of his father. When his soon to be wife suddenly died only a few days before their wedding day, he used his grief towards his father to escape another arranged marriage. However, Helaku felt extremely guilty for being relieved as his fiancé did not deserve death.
For the moment, everything seems to get better and even Yoki seems to sleep at night, and they are now planning on how to flee from their father and help Yoki escape from her arranged marriage.
KIAAN
Kiaan and Helaku met when Kiaan was bady hurt and about to die and Yoki saved him. Although Kiaan originally comes from a shapeshifter folk in the East of the land which is at war with Helaku's, he falls in love with Kiaan and meets him in secret. Their love is difficult, as Kiaan is not used to feelings this strong and fears he would manipulate Helaku if he doesn't suppress his affection towards him (read more about why at Kiaans page). Helaku is promised to a girl from his tribe and supposed to get chief after his father dies, so he has duties to fulfill. He does not want to simply run away because Helaku cares for his tribe which was his family since he was born.
Joen
Joen is a faun living in the forest around the Etuni tribe. He loves playing pranks, and both Yoki and Helaku like spending time with him. However, he seems to be not able to speak, and he never shows his face. Instead, he talks through gestures, and covers his face behind a mask. He seems to be a bit younger than Helaku.
Hun'Janu
Hun'Jahu is the forced fiancé of Helakus twin sister. Helaku doesn't like him, as he keeps trying to convince Yoki to marry him. He really presses on it, although Yoki has told him several times that she is not interested, but since their father supports Hun'Jahu, he keeps trying to get his fingers on her. Helaku wishes he could just punch him in the face, but the guy is a good feet taller than him.
Næmid'Ahote
Næmid'Ahote is the personification of death. He visits Yoki in her dreams to warn her about the future possible deaths around her to give her a chance to interfere. At first, Helaku hates him, as he is the reason Yoki suffers from insomnia, as she fears her dreams. However, when Yoki finds out who Næmid'Ahote really is, and that he just wants to help her, she convinces Helaku to give them a chance.
Yoki
Yoki is Helaku's twin sister. They share a strong bond, and would do everything for each other, even die. They are both spirits of Etune, Yoki the Spirit of Afterlife, and Helaku the Spirit of Forelife. Helaku worries about Yoki a lot, as she keeps rebelling against their father, who in exchange abuses her physically and mentally.
Ahato
Ahato is Helaku's father. Helaku is his fathers favorite child, as he is responsible and hard working, and, most importantly, obedient to his fathers commands. However, Helaku has to watch his father abusing his twin sister, and whenever Helaku makes a mistake, he is punished harshly as well. Ahato is extremely strict and doesn't allow the slightes insubordinate behaviour coming from his children. He expects Helaku to be the same as himself, which is something Helaku just can't fulfill, for he has a completely different personality.
