After Dr. Thromb discovered that he could control the personalities of mutants, he aimed to solve one thing: His lack of assistance. With an assistant that was as weak and nervous as Statch, he could double his efforts and test more of his ideas using an assistant that the mutants could empathize with.
Statch's business relationship with Thromb is flimsy, and it often feels like he's moments away from his death. He's often used for his tail's abnormal ability to store almost anything.
