"Ah, but her visions are clouded. It's quite a shame that she doesn't see the good she's brought all of us and that she can't be that kind to herself."
―Tuffy

Lelandess is the daughter of the captain of Radiant Garden's guard, Stephen Valentine, and descendant of Sir Freyr Valentine, a gallant knight of old who lived for many years and was the protector of several key figures. She would fight to uphold her father's dream of becoming a Keyblade Wielder upon his passing, even in the face of hardships as a result of her vengeful mother, envious of her ex-husband's birthright.

Story

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep

Lelandess was born to a rigidly traditional and abusive mother, Yvonne, who had plans for her girl to be married off like her own stepsisters. Her father Stephen, unfortunately the one chosen as Yvonne's suitor when he was to be married, ensured that his side of the family had kept the legacy of Freyr alive in their hearts as the bearers of the Valentine name, however disagreed and the separation of the couple ensued. Stephen would take Lelandess and flee to start anew on their own, making a promise to protect Lelandess at all costs, and taking up a tea business from their family tradition of herbal tea brewing to try and live off of in this harsh new life in a place called Radiant Garden, which they had decided to settle in. Stephen would later eventually join Radiant Garden's royal guard, and eventually would become guard captain by the time Lelandess was a young teen, and had begun training her in the basics of guardianship as she had shown interest in wanting to become a guard in the future. It was around this time, Lelandess was introduced to Lea and Isa when her father was taking Lelandess with her on duty so she could shadow him, as he had officially planned to pass his role of captain onto Lelandess when he was of retiring age. The boys became curious of Lelandess and her captain father, as the strange girl appeared to be the same age as them. Isa offered them all ice cream, and the group found out they had much in common. They eventually became schoolmates, attending a specialized school in Radiant Garden that was run by a few old masters of the Keyblade as well as some current ones. Lelandess grew fascinated by one of the older masters’ teachings, a man named Eraqus. Over time he grew quite fond of the girl, as he had kindled a brotherly-type friendship with her father that originally stemmed from his innate curiosity of the Valentine’s noble legacy, and seeing Stephen more and more in the guard naturally progressed that friendship. Lea and Isa would occasionally join the family and their friends when they would tour and serve their family meals and specialty teas, as well as in training. That was when Lelandess decided to continue her studies alongside her father even further, perhaps learning to become a Keyblade Master if she were to ever be chosen to wield. Lea would accompany her as a study buddy of sorts, even seeing in a new student, a lonesome, off the beaten track, sea serpent named Sirix. She and Lelandess became close rather quickly, developing a sisterly type bond with not only her, but the boys. The serpent even introduced a fifth friend to the posse, a young fellow named Dyme, a transfer from another school. Dyme was quite a troubled young man, and had connections to Sirix after the girl provided him a second chance at escape from his rocky path. Soon the group would see each other daily, sharing tea or sea salt ice cream together or just hanging out as best friends would. However, strange things began to happen to Lelandess. She started seeing peony flowers grow wherever key moments happened in her life, and her dreams became more vivid, all in which she was older. One dream was where she was dressed in armor, on the back a strange, white creature, overlooking some kind of fortress with a holy skyline in the background. The other theme of her dreams was where she was dressed in Stephen's captain uniform, as if foretelling that she would one day take her father’s position. That also meant her nightmares became vivid too, and were often quite gruesome, involving her getting attacked by various monstrous beings, which she later had thought to be Heartless. Lelandess also had begun to get strange upticks of power when in danger, often coming out in peony vines or bursts of petals. She was inheriting Stephen’s magic, and it was proving difficult to control. Desperate to hide her power, Lelandess began to distance herself from Lea and Isa, afraid they would abandon her if she had shown her abilities. However, that wasn’t to last long, and her secret was spoiled when Lea had gotten into a fight. Some of the members of Dyme’s former gang had ambushed Lea and Dyme both, having betrayed their errand boy. After Lea and Dyme drew the attention of Sirix, they had taken her in exchange for the boys’ freedom upon the young serpent's bargaining. Sirix’s scream for help had alerted Isa, and he ran to get backup from Lelandess. When they arrived, Lelandess became infuriated and lost control of the powers she became desperate to hide out of emotional torment, resulting in her surrounding the rivals in peony vines, the tight vines around their necks suffocating them to death. Lelandess, scared of what Lea and her posse potentially thought of her now that she had killed three men, she fled in tears, never to be seen again, becoming a recluse and secluding herself alone with her father

Kingdom Hearts

After the fall of Radiant Garden and the disappearance of Lea and Isa, as well as Dyme and Sirix, Lelandess fled with her father to instead move into Traverse Town and help run his pastry shop. They became quite popular with the locals, and even Sora visited them a couple times on his journey, developing quite the friendship with the dragoness, almost being seen like an older sister. However this new period of peace wasn’t to last. On a fateful night, Lelandess's father became terribly sick, as his prior rugged condition was quickly worsened due to years of wear and tear trying to give Lelandess everything he could. Soon, Stephen was on his deathbed, and he confided in Lelandess that he too wanted to master the Keyblade at a young age, and he told how his work as a guard was a way to help him gain the strength needed to one day wield the Keyblade of his desires. In his dying breaths, he gave Lelandess his corsage on a keychain for if she were to ever achieve such a feat for herself. And his last words to Lelandess were "Be the one to make my legacy truly blossom…my dearest flower. Let yourself be the one to part the clouds after any storm. " After the death of Stephen, Lelandess fell back into the custody of her conservative mother, Yvonne who was determined to uphold the tradition of passing down their daughters via arranged marriage. During this time she became very aggressive towards the Luckdragon she called a daughter. Disturbed at the thought of marrying a man she didn't love and fearful of dying just like her father, Lelandess began to fall into depression, combined with the grief over her father. The amount of negativity around her, and the guilt of showing her powers long ago in such brutal manner to the point where she lost Lea for good. She had never forgotten about Lea, who had given her his scarf the evening before they were separated, as the two had become rather close. She wondered if he could ever forgive her, and the thought further fueled into her torment. She may not have known what had happened to Lea, but her memories of him kept her going, with the hope they'd be reunited and she could ask for forgiveness. She kept the same hope for her best girlfriend, Sirix as well, keeping up the desire to see her again. However Yvonne did not wish of the young dragon to have any glimmer of hope, and thus began berating her and subjecting her to all sorts of abuse. She progressively broke the young dragoness down into all but a husk of her former self, often leaving her alone after the fact to prove a point that she was nothing and would always mean nothing to anyone. It was during this period of abuse that Yvonne snapped and revealed what really was the cause of Stephen's untimely demise, buried under the guise of simply wanting Lelandess to be married off. She had poisoned her ex-husband as she had always been jealous that Stephen had the legacy of knighthood, and she thought by killing him, and by marrying off Lelandess to another family, she would inherit the birthright by default. Unbeknownst to her, her greed would not be paid off, as fate had plans for the daughter she was trying to break.

Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days

Eventually, the young dragon had enough of her struggles. Day after day, Lelandess began training as she grew older to one day strike back against her mother and be free at last. When Yvonne left Lelandess alone, the Luckdragoness snuck off to train in various sorts of combat along with magic to finally take control of and develop her powers. She had stuck to what her father had taught her during her shadowing periods on guard duty. However, this eventually brought up the setbacks of her father’s magic with it, and she couldn't overwork herself, less she suffer its painful side effect. Nonetheless, it never stopped Lelandess’s sheer determination to finally better her life and be Stephen's living legacy. Lelandess eventually escaped the clutches of her mother, yet unbeknownst to her she had a plan in case Lelandess were to ever grow strong enough to flee. She had made a bargain, before the man’s defeat, with Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness. In exchange for her heart and something special of Lelandess’s for the sake of darkness, Yvonne had the Heartless leader create for her a terrifying creature that would continue to haunt her daughter in her name even after she would be not present, an Emblem Heartless known as Irae. However, Yvonne had also tried to trick the man, and flee without fulfilling her end of the deal. However, her folly had caught up to her, and Ansem had his most trusted henchman Amber strike her down, slowly breaking her with brutal nightmares, and when fear had finally taken her, spearing her scythe through her heart and leaving the corsage that Yvonne had took from Lelandess behind, to which it was later found by a mysterious tall figure in a black coat. Lelandess still had some lingering woe within her, even after finding a new purpose. To ease her mind, Lelandess took up many jobs. She became a helper where the sea salt ice cream was sold, and often helped sponsor the struggle matches with the help of the locals, as she had grown quite fond of them and was seen as a town heroine of sorts, especially after deciding to join the struggle matches, and became even a runner up in some tournaments.. Unbeknownst to her, it was where she would first encounter Axel, whom she immediately mistook for Lea, not knowing he had lost his memory of who he once was. Heartbroken when she realized that he had forgotten who he was, and how she couldn’t apologize for the incident, Lelandess decided to suppress her feelings and instead treat him as a more platonic relationship, yet still try to jog his memory slightly, despite their many encounters that would be considered as flirtatious. Still, Lelandess held onto hope that he would remember, and kept close to him. They eventually developed a new, but more fleeting sort of romance, Axel breaking his given rules on missions to be with Lelandess and meet each other in secret. Occasionally Lelandess would be snuck into the castle when Axel was left alone by himself, there's where she met Roxas and Xion, where she slowly became a big sister figure to both of them, offering them her advice, telling them the legends and stories of her family, and teaching them as if they were her own younger siblings. One of the times she was brought to the Castle That Never Was, Lelandess ran into a mysterious woman wearing the same black coat as her friends did, the two locked eyes for a brief moment and this gave Lelandess a strange series of visions. She saw an armored gentleman standing protectively in front of a blonde haired woman with the same striking blue eyes and mighty gaze as the girl she locked eyes with. The visions overpowered Lelandess and she fainted at the sudden rush of events. Waking up in a strange white room, the woman was looking over her with intent. She introduced herself as Faliux, and stated that Lelandess should never come here again, for it would incur danger to both herself and the trio she called friends. Lelandess reluctantly agreed, and Faliux sent her back to Twilight Town, swearing to not tell a soul and saying something rather foreboding, suggesting they would meet again. Lelandess would continue to be plagued by these visions once again, confiding in Axel and the others. That however, wasn't to last long. As Xion soon faded, leaving Lelandess in a state of grief, Axel and Roxas being the only sources of comfort. However even before the death of Xion and eventual departure of Roxas, something had already begun to strike her into a hysterical period after she was told he would be going off to Castle Oblivion, where there was a strong chance he would not survive this. Axel knew of this and confided in Lelandess that he would come back for her no matter what, and with that the dragoness was once again left in the fog to fend for herself.

Kingdom Hearts II

After Axel’s departure to the Castle, and even after the absences of both her beloved younger sibling figures due to Roxas’s eventual betrayal, she continued her life as normal, eventually catching back up with Sirix when she joined the Restoration Committee, who helped her in many ways catch up after the separation. Lelandess continued to participate in the town activities and soon even encountered Roxas once more and shared a friendly reunion with him, her making him tea and desserts and talking about what had ensued. Even after Roxas had combined with Sora again, Lelandess still kept their talk to heart, and it sparked hope within her that she would see Axel again. However, Irae had begun to manifest once more due to scenting Lelandess’s woes, and continued using the tragedies to her advantage. She goaded Lelandess into blaming herself for his disappearance, she wasn't there in time after all and clawing out her right eye as "punishment", leaving Lelandess for dead to be found by Sora and his friends. She is nursed back to health, and she and Sirix both befriended Sora officially is a result, happy to see an old acquaintance again. She couldn't help but feel as if Sora seemed strangely familiar to her. Nonetheless, she passed it off as just another strange hunch. Indeed Lelandess did see Axel again, and the two remembered each other, however Axel was concerned about what had happened to Lelandess’s eye, for he had witnessed the creature take the swipe but couldn't dare do anything due to the presence of Sora and company, and it had made her very self conscious to the point where she fled in tears. In the process of trying to find her, Axel had discovered the corsage in his pocket accidentally, and in a flashback to his past, he remembered his time as a young Lea and seeing Lelandess’s father with the corsage. When he had caught up to her again, he was about to fight the battle that would unknowingly be his last. Axel gave the precious object back to Lelandess, and she remembered it as a memoir of her father’s, as it had the emblem of a cloud in front of the sun with a fabric flower behind it. It was given to Lelandess due to the fact that Stephen always likened his daughter to a cloud that would cover the sun like a protective sheath until the chaos of the storm concluded, and would eventually part to bring new light and a rainbow. Lelandess, emotional, shared a heartfelt moment with her former beloved, not caring at all if he never truly remembered her, as it was the closest she ever felt to being truly complete again. After Axel had stopped seeing her for a while, Lelandess needed to have something to fill that void, and thus she joined the Restoration Committee of Radiant Garden, convinced by a local named Tuffy, who had a little dragon companion named Zuul. There she would find her best friend, Sirix again, and now she knew for sure she wasn’t alone. She too, like Tuffy, began to train Zuul, and she took onto the young fellow like a younger brother, much like how Roxas was to her before. Sirix and Lelandess, now that they were together again, strived to overall make life better for both of themselves.

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance

She was unaware of what happenened to Axel other than he had sacrificed himself to save Sora, and was also unaware that Lea had been reborn as a somebody like she had hoped. The grief she had felt had unknowingly drawn that aggressive Heartless, Irae back to her life. Nonetheless, Lelandess continued living her life making trips to the newly restored Radiant Garden to visit with Sirix and Zuul again. She had tried to fill in the void in her life left by Axel's absence by reciprocating Sirix's feelings after the serpent had confessed that she had a crush on Lelandess for quite a while as teens. However, the relationship didn't last, as there was some unresolved tension between them after being separated for this time, and the fact that both couldn't let go of losses of those they held dear as of yet and the baggage was just too much for them. Not to mention, Lelandess’s fear that Irae would come for Sirix as well. Nonetheless, they continued to live on as best friends, after coming to the conclusion it was best just for their bond to stay platonic. Even then, their brief time together taught both of them a lot about themselves and helped them discover what potential was locked inside of them. Lelandess thrived after her experiences with Sirix taught her that there was more to life than downward spirals. The Luckdragon eventually moved to her father's home, and opened a zen garden after refurbishing the place for people to enjoy wildlife and plants, and continued her work supporting the townspeople around Twilight Town. She would also help around the castle of Radiant Garden, where she would slowly uncover truth about her past. While browsing through the files and archives of the in Ansem The Wise's study out of curiosity after cleaning , Lelandess found a book with an image of a knight on horseback that looked remarkably like her, and was often accompanied by a blonde girl with blue eyes. Reading further, she learned of Freyr's deeds, and how he was renowned as a gallant knight who stood as the Gateway between mortal and divine. The Soldier in The Clouds who had won many battles for the side of the honorable and just. She had remembered the stories her father would tell to her, and the many dreams she had where she was in a similar stance to his and wondered if they were connected. Then she remembered the visions she and the mysterious Faliux had in the Castle that Never Was, it only confirmed her thoughts that the two of them had to be related, and Faliux had to be some kind of descendant of that blonde woman from the visions and the portraits. However, Irae, who was still haunting Lelandess had enough of her redemption and newfound desires, and decided to put an end to it. Cornering her, and attacking the Luckdragon. A vicious fight ensued between them. Lelandess was on the brink of death, Irae was about to deliver the final blow, when Lelandess saw an opportunity in desperation. She pushed the Heartless into a statue with a spear, impaling her and sealing the monster’s fate for good at last. However she was mortally wounded as well, and blacked out. Luckily Sirix found her and got her back on her feet with the help of Zuul and his infirmary experience. After the fight, Lelandess still could not help but wonder if she and Freyr were truly one in the same or it was just a weird hunch, her answer was soon to be. The longma that Freyr rode into battle had shown itself to Lelandess and revealed that she was indeed the last remaining worthy descendant of Freyr, and that her martyrous nature in the fight with the beastly Irae, and her determination throughout her rough past had proven she was truly worthy of becoming the new guard of the mortal-divine interconnection represented by the clouds. Thus, Kibou lent her his assistance, and Lelandess was now Knighted as the new guardian of the divine, and it had ignited in her a new purpose. She headed straight for the restored Radiant Garden once again, and returned to her home to continue on her journey to fulfill her dad's legacy, as well as becoming a sort of armored urban legend that people would hope to see protecting them from any threat to daily life. The knightly code she had assumed had fully taken hold of her, and her true prowess became known after once being next to nothing. She had come beyond her mother’s terrible words, and she was truly proud to be herself for the first time in her life. She also continued to help Sirix with her own struggles, and had a huge hand in the serpent’s road to recovering her island.

Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep -A fragmentary passage-

Stephen Valentine recounted the Valentine family legacy to Eraqus, who in turn passed on this legend. According to his story, the Luckdragons are a divine, yet mortal race blessed by Khepri to serve as guards and protectors of his children when they came to the mortal plane, as well as to represent the very gateway and the great connections between the mortal plane and the divine, the Firmament. One such being, was Freyr, the Luckdragon assigned as the protector knight of the Divine, which at the time was Lori. He was gifted a longma to be his steed, known as Kibou, to carry him through many battles, and who saw him through both a Keyblade War and the destruction of the Dandelions. Due to Lori’s conncections with them, and being the only one left after their destruction. From there, Freyr lived for many eons, and saw in the arrival of Aeterna much later on, overseeing Lori to accompany her until her untimely demise, which filled him with deep remorse, yet he continued fighting on as trong as ever to protect what remained, and sealed Lori for a future generation to reawaken, as he had foretold his time was limited. Freyr had a dream of being chosen by the Keyblade, but sadly he was killed in an act of martyr before he could fulfill his dream, fulfilling his foresight. Yet he had fathered a few children, which would be the seeds of a noble bloodline. Nowadays, most Luckdragons had all but forgotten their purpose even after just a few generations after Freyr, and most had drifted into being just another species wihin the mortal realm. However, the Valentine Bloodline, direct descendants of Freyr’s firstborn son, would keep the noble ways alive. The most recent descendant of Freyr’s is Stephen and his daughter Lelandess.

Kingdom Hearts III

Lelandess had fully settled into her new home, and her second form became the talk of the town, her knightly self had become a sort of superhero-like alter ego to her, that only few people would connect the dots that the local tea-brewing luckdragon was also the fabled armored hero of the town. However, she began to run into some problems during her duties- for a few days she was having trouble summoning her lance on her daily rounds. It was finally revealed why when Lelandess found Sirix blacked out on the island, with Sniper Nobodies closing in on her from all angles. After struggling to bring her lance out again, she focused and poured her power into the ritual, instead of a lance in her hand, she held a Keyblade. Realizing she had been chosen after years of training and struggle, and because of her selfless desire to protect those who can't protect themselves. Lelandess made a promise from that day forward to uphold Freyr's namesake, and fulfill her promise to her father of upholding his legacy, for generations to come, as now she had completed what Freyr had longed to do, but never could- be chosen by the Keyblade and was one step closer on the road to her father's dream: mastery. One of those was her close friend Zuul, who had since become not only an infirmary ward, but a scientist who observed and documented the ins and outs of all sorts of mysterious phenomena to hopefully solve the mysteries behind them, as well as studied the history of Keyblade Wars and ran an infirmary for all sorts of beings, human or non, where he would patch up small scrapes. They had rekindled their bond through her connections to the Keyblade War through Freyr, which Zuul took great interest in. There, the luckdragon became like a mother figure to the wandersome little dragon boy, taking him under her wing once more and continuing caring for him in a sisterly manner as she had done with Roxas and Xion before. She would help him on his mission to find his beloved, as he had told Lelandess of his separation from Koroblynx and how much he missed her, and regretted not having confessed his love for her. Not only did she take on Zuul to mentor, she took on Kairi as well, teaching her how to fight with honor and power and how to have courage. Lelandess had a tough love kind of approach to Kairi’s training, but at the same time she was gentle and courteous with the girl, treating her as if she were a little sister. Taking the Princess of Heart under her wing in turn brought Lelandess yet another success. And that was who Kairi knew, and another friend she also trained alongside. Lelandess had heard through her that some of her friends were struggling with some Heartless and once again stepped up as the protector fable of the village, assuming her armor and mounting her steed, she came to the rescue as per her regimen. Once the dust had settled, Lelandess realized exactly who she had saved. Lea- and his posse. The memories returned again, and she finally worked up the courage to ask for forgiveness. Lea was about to thank the mysterious knight who had saved him and his friends when she finally removed her helmet to reveal exactly who she was, for the first time she had truly revealed herself while in her armored persona. Lea remembered who she was as well- having since regained his memory after being reformed as a Somebody. Lelandess broke down in tears, remembering their tumultuous last moment together, and she apologized for killing the men who had beaten Lea up so long ago. Lea, however forgave the Luckdragon, as she was only acting in order to save him, and that she didn’t intend at all to go so brutal, especially having new powers she was unable to control. The two shared a heartfelt reunion, as the two close friends had finally found each other again, and Lelandess still hoped to rekindle the fleeting romance that they had shared. Yet both parties still were too scared to confess

Kingdom Hearts Parables

Lelandess has been continuing to train Kairi and both girls are working towards mastery, however, Lelandess has been facing her own inner demons again. Even after being forgiven and becoming friends with Lea again, she still did not have the strength to tell him how she truly felt. And in her despair, she hadn’t noticed that things were going astray around her. However, something set off within her that things were taking a bad turn again. Lelandess couldn’t help but notice that Sirix hadn’t been speaking with her in quite a while, and grew very worried about her best friend and soul sister, as fate would have it, a terrified young fellow by the name of Demyx approached her when she was making rounds one day looking for any sign of distress. Sirix was blacked out in his arms, and the Luckdragon took his plea to save her, and she knew exactly where to take her defeated best friend. She made the trek to Zuul, her old friend in the infirmary, where the two worked ceaselessly to restore Sirix to full health. There, Lelandess had an epiphany, Demyx looked exactly like the street boy that her, Lea, Isa, and Sirix hung out with as kids, a boy by the name of Dyme. Making the connection that the two were one in the same helped her bring Sirix and Demyx closer, and it also gave Lelandess the courage that she needed. If Dyme remembered the things he shared with Sirix, surely Lea would remember as well. As a celebration of the “Forces of Nature” being finally together again, Lelandess put on a ceremony in Radiant Garden where she knighted Lea, Isa, Demyx, and Sirix to be in the reborn guard with her. This also gave Lelandess some time to process her inner turmoil. But in the end, she realized that she didn’t need to fear in the first place. Lea had come to her first after a session of training with Kairi, and he confessed that he was holding back his feelings out of fear of rejection as well, and that his checkered period had turned her away. Lelandess proclaimed that she too was wrestling with fears, and that she was also holding back. The two shared a tender moment together, making the promise that they would help each other learn that there is no longer a reason to be afraid anymore.

Personality

Lelandess is at first timid, stubborn, nervous and easily flustered, with a serious and regimented atmosphere about her. However, once she's spoken to, her facade melts away. Lelandess has a heart of pure gold, a sweet and friendly, almost grandmotherly kind of figure. However. she has a strong martyr complex, thinking rather lowly of herself, and thus she often puts others before herself to the point of her own detriment.

Appearance

Lelandess is a tall, buxom, and sort of muscularly-built Luckdragon humanoid with pinkish white hair that is styled into a tuft. She has droopy white fluffy ears and a tail with the same downy white fur that ends in a point that is shaped like a golden heart. Her eyes are a pinkish rose-red color with cat-like pupils. Her right eye is missing, and is concealed behind a peony-shaped eyepatch most of the time, or some other kind of patch. She has scars all over her body and a tattoo of a bleeding heart with a sword through it on her lower back, wrapped in a ribbon with the words “C’est La Vie” on it

Kingdom Hearts

Lelandess was very frail in this era, having a very obviously damaged atmosphere about her, as her face had become gaunt and practically lifeless due to the torment of her vengeful mother

Kingdom Hearts II

Lelandess has since matured into the appearance she currently sports, trading her frailty for a fairly Amazonian frame. She wears a maroon zipper vest that has long coattails over a white tube top, and has mismatched armwarmers of the same color that tuck into her mismatched gloves bearing the images of the sun and moon. Her vest is double belted with a black bow that has a peony in the center. Her skirt is pale pink and rose red plaid with stripes of the same red on the bottom.

Kingdom Hearts III

Lelandess has switched out the bandage over her missing eye once the gash had closed and the cavity had healed in favor of a peony-shaped fabric eyepatch. She pairs this new eyepatch with a new ensemble as well. She wears a white tank top under a charcoal colored jacket that is trimmed on the sleeves and in the front with magenta and deep rose red plaid and fastened in the front with two magenta straps, accented with a similarly magenta ascot. Her gloves are fingerless, charcoal colored leather with a fabric peony that matches her eyepatch. Her skirt matches her coat, with a magenta belt and the rose and magenta plaid on the sides, bordered by zippers. The skirt has a white petticoat underneath. She wears white thigh high stockings trimmed with lace, and a magenta band on one thigh. Her boots are the same color as her jacket and skirt, with fur trim on the tops and a wing accent on the backs of them.

Kingdom Hearts Parables

Lelandess's style has become more sporty as a reflection of her coming into her own after all that has happened to her. She trades the full skirt for a half skirt over patent leather shorts, the skirt is black with pink tartan stripes. The thigh not covered by the skirt has a black garter that matches the shorts. She pairs this with a black open jacket with a turtleneck collar, accented with pink stripes and fastened in the front with a gold Master's Emblem brooch. Under the jacket she wears a white lace trimmed tank top underneath a patent leather zipper vest. The back of the jacket has an emblazoned "forces of nature" symbol. She wears plain black fingerless leather gloves and white knee socks that tuck into her heeled boots, which are mostly black with a pink front with silver buckles. The top of the boots is patterned with the same tartan check as her half skirt.

Abilities

Lelandess has the ability to control peony vines and petals as her primary magic, and can overwhelm the field with them quite quickly. however it has a severe drawback. This drawback is a non-fatal, yet chronic condition similar to Hanahaki Disease where the user will cough up the flowers and vines under emotional distress. Flare-ups can be staved off or prevented by eating certain foods or drinking hot liquids, as well as maintaining a low level of stress.
Desperation Move: En Garde ~ Lelandess strikes the ground with her Keyblade and darkens the sky with clouds, which stirs up winds that initiate a barrage of glowing peony vines and sharp petals that swirl and storm the battlefield with the winds. This move tends to drain Lelandess's magic potential quite a bit, and her movements tend to become sluggish afterwards due to the strain on her body.
Limit Break: Maiden’s Wrath - Lelandess spins rapidly towards her opponent with her Keyblade, once in contact she roundhouses the enemy after delivering a few slashes, her blows enhanced with the peony petals’ auras.

Keyblade Wielding

Lelandess's primary Keyblade is known as Forbidden Peony, due to its flowery schematic. Its primary transformation is the sword that Sir Freyr carried with him into battle.

Others

Knighted Form: Mounting Kibou's back, she gains a share of her noble steed's powers, giving her a great defensive boost from her armor as well as speed enhancements due to Kibou’s swift feet. In this state, Lelandess gains access to weather-related abilities.
Rain: Lelandess summons a rainstorm. The rain makes the ground slick and thus increases ground speed. Cure magic has a slight heal boost now.
Snow: Lelandess initiates snow to start falling. Enemies are now slower moving and easier to hit due to the cold air. This also increases the damage of Blizzard spells
Fog/Haze: Lelandess summons a fog or haze that covers the field. Enemies are now less likely to attack and their damage decreases. This also increases the damage of Fire spells.
Strong Winds/Petal Hurricane: Lelandess stirs up strong winds upon the field , this makes dodging easier and gives air more air time when jumping to her teammates. This also increases the damage of Thunder spells
Intense Sunlight (Day): Lelandess parts the clouds to magnify the sun's light. This strengthens attack power of her teammates and herself
Intense Moonlight (Night): Lelandess parts the clouds to magnify the moon's light. This strengthens defensive power of her teammates and herself.

Relationships

Sirix

"You're my whole world, Leelee! I can't let you up and vanish like that without a reason! I care about you way too much and don't wanna see you or anyone else hurt because of someone trying to screw us over again!"

Lelandess and Sirix were friends at practically the very moment as the two of them met, and were like two peas in a pod when they were together. During thr period when they considered themselves as lovers, Sirix helped Lelandess come out of her shell in many ways and restored the Luckdragon's faith in herself, as well as her spirited nature that had all but petered out. In return, Lelandess would show Sirix that she always had someone that would protect her and be there for her when she seemed alone in the world. Despite deciding to keep their bond platonic, they continued living on as the best of friends and would still put their lives on the line for one another.

Lufia/Faliux

"It was your ancestor who was the keeper of my family, and for that I owe you my very life."

Due to Aeterna, Faliux's mother, and Lelandess's noble ancestor Freyr's connections, Faliux and Lelandess were drawn to each other the moment they locked eyes in the Castle That Never Was. Both were hit with visions of their predecessors, and would end up sharing one another's stories before parting ways for a while. The two would later become good friends once Faliux could reach out to Lelandess again.

Lea/Axel

"Why would I turn you away because of your missing eye? It wasn't your fault, and you're still the same Ladyluck that's one of my best friends!"

Lelandess moved to Radiant Garden and Stephen quickly wanted to introduce his daughter to the other children her age, and the first few he spotted were Lea and his friend Isa. Out of the two boys, Lelandess got along with Lea the most, as Isa's backward and reserved nature didn't allow for the spirited Lelandess to mesh as well with him. However, despite all that, all three became friends, yet Lelandess was still closer to Lea than Isa due to their more compatible personalities. Their friendship would expand once the boy Dyme showed up, as well as the introduction of Sirix. The 5 of them were the best of friends and would do almost everything together. However, when Lelandess’s power had slipped and took the lives of some delinquents, Lelandess couldn't bear to face any of her friends anymore, and went into hiding, cutting herself off from everyone in fear of being seen as a cold-blooded killer. Lea however, knew Lelandess’s fatal surge of power was an accident in desperation to protect her friends deep down, and it killed him to see her all but vanish. Hence why when she saw Axel for the first time, she immediately rushed to him, recognizing him as her old buddy, yet heartbreakingly he couldn't remember who she was and thus she couldn't ask for his forgiveness. Nonetheless, Lelandess cherished their time together, becoming friends with him through it all. A lot of their encounters would become slightly flirtatious, and Axel would come and see her every chance he got, and occasionally would bring her to the Castle when it was just him alone, or just with Roxas and Xion, disguising her in a black coat. Lelandess would confide in him when she started having the prophetic visions again, and in turn, they would grieve together when Xion faded. When Axel was chosen to go to Castle Oblivion, he feared he wouldn't live to tell the tale, and was forced to give Lelandess the bad news. She accepted, and the two promised they would see each other again one day, no matter what happened. As if fate was smiling on Lelandess, Axel did survive his stay, and was off looking for her after he witnessed Irae claw out Lelandess’s eye, worried if she survived or not. However, Lelandess was extremely self-conscious about the fact her eye was now missing, and she tried to turn him away in tears, fleeing from the guy she knew so well and was admittedly overjoyed to see again. However, in trying to convince her not to go, Axel found the corsage that Lelandess dropped during their very first meeting in his coat pocket, looking at it and having a brief flashback to his past, as Lelandess’s father wore this very corsage. Before he would inevitably sacrifice his life saving Sora, he gave Lelandess the corsage back and shared a heartfelt reunion with the remnant of her former companion, not caring at all if he didn't remember his past, instead appreciating the friendship they had made in the present. Lelandess naturally was sullen whenever she found out of Axel's sacrifice, yet her time with Sirix would help her recover. Over time, she secretly wondered if Lea had returned whole again, after hearing a few others had done so. It was through her mentorship of Kairi that Lea was brought back into Lelandess’s life, and she could finally ask him for his forgiveness from that tragic day that initially separated them, and he did forgive her, knowing good and well that Lelandess never meant to go that far. She was only trying to protect her circle with magic she didn't yet know how to control after all. The circle of the 5 friends eventually was restored, and the warm and sometimes flirtatious memories and meetings Lea made as Axel, as well as their various battles they fought together in both past and present pushed them both closer together into admitting they had developed feelings for one another, and accepting those feelings, and thus living on together as one.

Development

Lelandess has had the most tumultuous journey of development of my Kingdom Hearts OCs, in fact, she started out as a Pokemon OC made when I was barely 9 years old. She always had the same hairstyle and pale colored hair throughout all her days, despite her hair shifting from stark white to more of a very pale pink that is close to white. Her personality however changed the most. When she was first in the Kingdom Hearts fandom, she was a posssessive and very bitchy character, that had a lot of controversy at the time due to my portrayal of her and my own flaws combining in the worst way. After I learned my lesson from my vindictive stage I decided to reclaim her and transform her into the sweetheart she is today. However, her "bifauxnen", lady knight archetype didn't start until rather recently.

Trivia

  • Lelandess's name is a portmanteau of the names "lily" and "Dessa", thus the English pronunciation of her name is actually spoken as "Leh-land-iss"
  • The namesake of Lelandess's knightly ancestor, Freyr, is the god of kingship, weather, and peace. The tie of the nobility of Luckdragons with the clouds and weather comes in here.
  • Lelandess's signature flower, the peony, is often associated with longevity, gratitiude, and love, but also royalty and nobility.
  • Lelandess's armored motif may also be inspired by King Arthur and the knights of the round table.
