Growing up in one of the most respected clans in the leaf came with a lot of expectations.Gōkō worked incredibly hard from a young age to grow up to be a shinobi that made her family proud,she didn't have anything that was considered a "natural gift" she put in a lot of time and a lot of training to keep up with her peers. Just before she graduated,her mother gave birth to her younger brother Hiro and the whole family came to witness their birth.The family was convinced their birth was special and they had been blessed by the guardian of their clan and as time went on,Hiro showed signs of immense "natural" power.Gōkō's parents devoted a lot of time to her sibling and her efforts were eventually forgotten and she fell to the side.

Gōkō's resentment grew for her parents over the years and they would make constant comments she didn't need to overwork herself to become a shinobi,Hiro would be able to keep them safe. Her hard work unacknowledged and her efforts thrown away she decided she was going to prove them all wrong and do something no one in her clan had done before. Accessing a forbidden scroll hidden away in the Hokage's estate,Gōkō made contact with an ancient Centipede that many years ago tried to destroy the Ryūsaki guardian and in doing so made a pact with them in order to use its power to become stronger. Discovered by the ANBU they attempted to stop her,resulting in her losing her left arm but due to her new found powers,was able to escape them.
