Death to Devil to LifeElaine was never a great person. She had a cruel streak, and had no quelms about killing others. She had a girlfriend, Irin, who adored her regardless of her many faults and flaws, even if Elaine never understood why. She eventually died and went to Avernus, and was reborn as a devil. She has no memories of her life before becoming a devil, and in this new life she served under Zariel as an Erinyes.
At some point she was captured and taken to the Bleeding Citadel by some demons. After a chance encounter with Irin and her party, she was confronted by Irin who insisted that she knew who she was, and it nearly came to blows. Elaine managed to get away, not wanting to risk her life when she was already weak.
When she next saw Irin, she and another in her party were trying to get to the Companion, and succeeded in destroying it. To her greater surprise, Zariel did not fight them, and instead was convinced to go back to Celestia. It was then that she was offered by Irin to go with her to the mortal realm, which she vehemanently refused as she still had no knowledge of who Irin was. After a heartfelt plea, and some convencing from the other in her party, Elaine finally decided to allow them to give her memories back. It was then that she realized the hurt she had caused someone she now remembered she loved dearly, and thanks to Zariel, she also regained her mortal body to be able to live her life with Irin not as a devil, but as a tiefling once more.
