Nunki is named for one of the stars in the constellation Sagittarius, a starmap of which is prominently displayed on his coat patterning.

ABOUT
Nunki likes to think that he behaves in a proper and elegant manner. However, his naturally aloof carriage, scathing wit and nasty tongue makes him seem like more of a high-and-mighty bitch than a refined gentleman. He has never been an incredibly powerful Czylph, his primary lands being composed of grassy hilltops beneath clear skies that made them ideal for the construction of observatories, stone-crafted astrological calenders and prayer sites more suited to quiet contemplation than enthusiastic revelry. However, his already reserved and reclusive following has dwindled in recent years, and now he is a Czylph of only minor holding and strength in a land that does not suit itself well to accruing new followers. There is a part of him that is reluctant to let go of his long-held pride as a Czylph, and he can't help but think that worshippers and followers really ought to come to HIM, rather than the other way around. But alas, fewer and fewer people have heard of him, and despite the rich patterning of stars on his body, he cannot so easily conquer the heavens for himself. Maybe if he works on his frosty personality he'll have more success?
POSITIVE TRAITS
- He's absolutely meticulous in all that he does. Cleanliness is something he holds in high regard.
- Has a natural sense of grace and elegance. Even when he's weakened to the point that he HAS to walk with both hooves solidly planted on the ground, Nunki manages to draw himself up and stride forward with a poise befitting royalty or demigods.
- Deceptively patient as a teacher. He doesn't spare any time or leniency for people who don't actually want to listen or take their studies seriously, but as long as his pupil is obviously eager to learn, Nunki can be SUPREMELY patient and conscientious as an instructor. If you're here to be taught, Nunki will walk you by-hand through the entire process without batting a single eyelash at the amount of time it might take.
NEGATIVE TRAITS
- Stubborn to the point of self-neglect. When his base of worship slowly dwindled and he stopped being given mooncake offerings, he refused to nourish himself with much else, insisting that Czylphs needn't eat except for pleasure and that he wouldn't enjoy anything but his favoured offerings. However, lack of worship and resultant lack of power CAN lead to something akin to physical starvation, and so he really OUGHT to be eating something.
- VERY haughty and frequently short on patience. He's an abrasive character who ends up accidentally putting people off pretty much every time they come into contact with him.
- Gives in a little too easily to indulgence, and is secretly rather fond of excess and decadence. If you really want to polish his hooves and hand feed him moon cakes, he'll be more than happy to lay back on some nice embroidered pillows and let you do it.
INTERPERSONAL CONNECTIONS
Nunki didn't appreciate the clouds obstructing his view of the stars one cool and otherwise ideal stargazing evening, and when he realized that Suraj had brought them, he reacted with hostility to what he thought might be a takeover of his meager land by an enemy czylph. However, Suraj is weirdly non-combative, and oddly persistent about turning up at his temple for conversation. For some unknown reason, Nunki is feeling less weak and starved than usual, almost as though he has worshipers once again- and some of the gold jewelry and rich gifts and sumptuous mooncakes that Suraj brings are suspiciously engraved or printed with images of starscapes, applied by human hand. He doesn't get it, but he's not complaining.
Despite her delicate appearance, Neith's reputation as a ruthless conquerer of land and holdings precedes her, and as such Nunki has a healthy distrust and a certain measure of fear where she's concerned.
SPECIAL DESIGN NOTES
Nunki is incredibly, worryingly skinny - he looks starved under his clothes, and so he tends to wear opulent and heavily embellished waist wraps to give a bit of padding to his middle. As Suraj continues to gather worshippers for him [without his knowledge], Nunki is slowly becoming more well-nourished and less emaciated, but he definitely doesn't look like a healthy boy when you get him naked.
