By itself, if they were to be traded or given to another, their current price would be free. In order to be sold for any monetary gain, there would need to be more art of them in order for them to have that monetary worth. For example, if an art work of them made by their owner is worth $5, then if sold as a collective unit of all artwork owned by the owner under that character gallery would be worth $5. If more artwork is added to that gallery under that character that would cost money (such as commisioned artwork of the character to add to the gallery), then that would raise the character's worth.

That's my understanding of how that works, at least.
