Aqwari are keepers of history, lore and relics. They are often water temple guardians.

Typically they roam in areas where there is a water relic nearby, protecting it from outside harm.
This does not mean they live in the temple (while some do). They actually very well have lives and homes of their own, it's just often they are nearby a temple to report to.
I imagine these aquatic temples are like hotspots that have the same liveliness as a city does.

Some higher grade Aqwari possess two pairs of arms, those with this trait are regarded as higher standing guardians.
The runes on their arms and tail are branded markings from birth to signify a mysterious purpose.
Often humans will refer to them as aquatic deities, fiercely loyal to protecting ancient magicks from getting into the wrong hands.

On the night of a full moon, they may walk on land if they so please. However if they stay too long, their kelp will dry up and they will remain permanently human.

They sing water hymns together, often forming a choir.

aqwari faq: so are the laurels/leaves on their head/waist/tail like feelers?
answer: NO! they are live plants! they grow and wither......depending on the health of the aqwari! a severely damaged aqwari would probably have most of its leaves wilting/falling
