Grigori the betrayed knight

Tortured by the actions of a King he once long served, Grigori has taken up a vigilant post and keeps watch for his enemy. Always protecting those who cannot protect themselves, Grigori is the embodiment of the Knights Code, holding himself to a high standard of behavior and ettiquette. His refusal to break the rules is often falls on deaf ears when he is in the company of others, and the conflict within him when forced to kill or disobey is immense. He holds grudges for an eternity, and will hunt down those he deems in breach of the law or ethics relentlessly.

Grigori's moral and ethical code was given to him early in life by a Knight of the Radiant guard, and is something that has permeated every aspect of his life since. He holds duty and honor above his own personal needs and desires, no matter how hard everyone around him tries to get him to loosen up. That isn't to say he's a stick in the mud, but if you're breaking the rules he will be the first to try to set you on the correct path. When betrayed, or forced to betray another or his own code, he is met with great despair and greif over it. While he is capable of shouldering on and overcoming his hangups over the code being broken, it is clear he is made uncomfortable when doing so.
Background
Some say Grigori was born a Knight, others say he was simply born a man, and still others will claim godlyhood. His true past is obscurred in history, dating back ages before most were born today. Some facts are clear however, such that he served a great and noble King for ages before something caused a great many wars and split the empire into pieces. It is considered his first act of disobedience and betrayal, and what led to the act still haunts him to this day. Since the splitting of the great empire, he has roamed as a Knight, protecting those who need it and hunting down those who would do harm and injustice to others. Accompanied by his closest companions, Grigori has his own band of loyal followers, though he denies leadership over any of them.

Summary
Grigori is a stalwart protector of those who both need and deserve his protection. Once a celebrated Knight in the Radiant Empire he fell to ruin when his King betrayed their people and destroyed the empire as a result. The grief over the betrayal and loss of life weighed heavily on Grigori for many years, causing him to wander as if slumbering for ages. Many who interacted with him during this time recall how empty of life his eyes were, and how chilling his tone. No one knows quite what pulled him from his depression, but the life has returned to his eyes.
These days he spends hunting his former King, while performing odd jobs and protection details on the side. He travels with his former companon, Reaver, who also served under the same king as himself ages ago. Together they make an interesting team, with Grigori attempting to balance Reaver's chaos, and Reaver attempting to pull Grigori from his prison shell. Following them are a band of Knights and dragons that remember the time before the fall of the empire, and either served under Grigori or are simple awed by his presence.

- Like other dragons/ancients, Grigori is able to transform between his Dragon body and his more humanlike body at will.
- KNown to only a few, Grigori has an adorable love of children, and will always protect them no matter the situation.
- Before the passing of time, Grigori went by the name Nocturne in the First Age.
- Grigori may be the only one able to pull Reaver from the brink of madness.
