Appearance

Dax is a satyr meaning he has a human top half with pointed ears and a lower half of a goat. He is average height (5’5”) with white skin, short ginger hair, stubby goat’s horns and green eyes. His goat lower half has ginger-brown fur and cloven hooves.

He likes to wear airy clothes that fit well over his stature, like large baggy hoodies and shorts. He has a favorite camouflage hat he wears which hides his horns.

Personality

Dax is a naive and immature satyr who lacks common sense and knowledge. Growing up in his isolated community, Dax lacks a lot of knowledge about the outside world and social customs. As a result, he often comes off as ignorant of boundaries, rude and excitable. He doesn’t mean to be and backpedals as quick as he enters an interaction if this is pointed out. He’s rowdy and excitable, having a lot of excitement and curiosity for the outside world. He makes friends fast and stands by them no matter what. He might even trust a little too fast but he always means well.

History

Dax had grown up in an isolated satyr community in the middle of the woods and there he stayed until he was a young adult. Then he acted on a long-held curiosity about the outside world. While his elders didn’t approve of this, they didn’t stop him, sending him along with some supplies, fully expecting him to be back before winter. The first person he met after was Lyra, who was less than receptive of his advances. But he was apologetic so they become something akin to friends, their friendship teaching Dax what humans were really like.

The next person he met was Gale, when the former was sullen and lost in his new hometown. Misguided, Dax tried to help him cheer up by taking him for drinks. While the motion didn’t exactly land, it seemed to cheer Gale up who wasn’t too upset in the end. So the two also became friends, with Gale becoming friends with Lyra through him.

It’s this kinship that helps the trio when disaster strikes and creatures from beyond the Veil invade their hometown. With the help of the werecat Booker, the trio escape.

Skills

Growing up in the woods, surviving off the land is second nature to Dax. He can correctly identify plants and animals, knows how to set traps, track and navigate along with a whole other slew of related skills. He has a keen sense of hearing as well. Like any other Noxchild, he appears human to those who cannot see past the Veil.
