Moody and distrustful, Melissa is a bit of a loose cannon. Since she is quite skilled, she'll only offer her repair services for a high fee and never seems to make any friends. She'll also snap at most people who try to form a friendship with her, especially if said person asks about her scars.
After being stuck on Irongate for three years, all Melissa wants is to go home to the place she knows. Stubborn at best, Melissa is willing to do almost anything to save her own skin as long as it results in her safety. That said although she'll never admit it Melissa is somewhat lonely and cares for the team deep-down.

Summary
Raised on a massive fruit farm in Italy, Melissa was extremely young when her parents split, and her mother moved to States while her father stayed on the farm. Being an only child, Melissa was expected to help out with the farm work, including learning to fly a crop duster.
However, Melissa and her father had to move to the States due to a drought in Italy and start over. Melissa helped with house repairs while being homeschooled. This caused her to have a love for building things, especially machinery. Due to struggling with English, Melissa had trouble with social connections. She once had a friend, but she rarely talks about her.
After the earthqauke, Melissa struggled due to only being used to growing fruit trees and wine grapes. However she eventually got the hang of cultivating a small garden which included kale and potatoes. However, a life-threatening incident that cost her the house also caused her to lose all trust in people. She also watches anything she eats and drinks. Melissa is currently hired as a live-in mechanic to help Alex and Athena build their plane to escape the island.

Alex
Alex is one of the few people that Melissa is on somewhat-friendly terms with. Although Alex can be a little too pushy at times with wanting to know more about Melissa's past, he claims he just wants to be friends, wich Melissa doesn't doubt.
Athena
Besides, Alex, Athena is one of the few people Melissa considers a potential friend. This is especially after Melissa revealed that she didn't really know how to write or read English and Athena didn't judge (unlike most people.) That said, Melissa believes that Athena is too kind for her own good.
Jason
At best, Melissa tolerates Jason. Though she barely knows him, there's just something about Alex's brother that gets under her skin. However, Melissa is not afraid to tell Jason how much she hates him.
Rusty
Although Melissa tries not to let on how scared she sometimes is, in her mind Rusty is someone to be feared. She is respectful of him only out of her own sense of safety.
