Charismatic

If the mood seems low, Aiden is good at using words and action to pick up the mood and motivate those that are down. This comes in handy during war, but once he starts losing his charisma, that is the sign that things are not well.

Tolerant

He is willing to listen to the opinions of others and not degrade them for what they believe, especially there he knows there are questionable things about himself. Although, bringing up a topic about some of those questionable things might risk bringing out the cynical side in him.

Prideful

It is this trait along with his looks that earned him his nickname of Peacock: the pretty boy with an attitude. Being prideful can be negative, but he tries to make it as positive as he can and only struts himself around someone he considers a friend.

Hard Working

Due to not wanting to be like his father and wasting his life doing nothing, Aiden values hard work and takes pride in a job well done.

Letter From War

It is not good, Momma. I watched them shoot him. Right through the forehead. Dragonfly is dead. I watched my brother die. There is nothing glorious about war, nothing to be proud of. How can there be pride with all this death? I have killed people, and that is nothing to feel good about. I believe the only thing that keeps most of us going is the men beside us. We need to protect each other. Even though I wrote that there is nothing to be proud of, I guess that is not true. Protecting your brothers in arms is something to feel proud about, so that is what I plan to do. If there is something I can do about it, I won't leave anyone behind, dead or alive.

Summary

Aiden had a happy childhood, growing up with both a loving mother and father. While his time as a child was fairly uneventful, that began to change once he became a teenager. He began learning new things about himself, the biggest thing being his love for certain types of pain. At first it scared him, but eventually he began reading up on it and experimenting, learning what he enjoyed and what was territory he would rather not delve into again.

As Aiden came to accept that about himself, he became less inclined to do the same for those around him, mainly his father. The two of them began to argue about the harm he was doing to himself and also about how his father should get an actual job instead of sitting the around the house. He came to resent that the only thing his father had done with his life was find a girl and have a child. He told himself he would make sure not to follow in his father's footsteps and actually do something with his life.

The age of 17 was a turning point in Aiden's life, and he began a plan to make good on his promise to himself. It was also the year his father died. After recovering some from that tragedy, he began to research the military, and after graduating at 18 he went to boot camp in hopes of becoming a soldier for the US Army. Since he was making good on one promise, he made another promise. This one was that he would make his mother proud of his life.

Life in Uniform

During his time in basic training, Aiden made a good friend in a man who came to have the nickname Simple John. It was also during this time that a war started, so after graduating from basic, he was sent off the join a squad, Simple John ending up in the same squad. Two weeks later and Aiden with the new nickname of Peacock: the pretty boy with an attitude, they were sent off to war. The new recruits quickly learned the horrors that came with battle and how hard it could be to keep morale up. Not long before Aiden's deployment was suppose to end, he and his squad leader were captured. A whole new level or horror was experienced. Both Aiden and the squad leader survived their time as a POW, but healing from the emotional trauma was not as easy as healing a physical wound.

Once he was fit enough, Aiden got a tattoo of a peacock feather across a scar on his cheek with the names of his brothers in arms written in the feather. Most of his physical injuries healed well, it was just the other types of scars he has to worry about, and even after all he went through, he hopes that one day soon he will be able to continue his time in the military, since that is where he feels he belongs.

• Aiden is a masochist, but he is anything but submissive. He enjoys knife play, fire play, and most of all, asphyxiation.
