Backstory

 Once an orphan living near the Regiment Outpost's vicinity, Hendric got taken in by a weaver living in hiding who helped runaways and abandoned slave children escape to safety. He learned all of his caretaker's teachings about religion and balance, up until the day the weaver got caught and executioned.

  Not long after, he got taken in by a wealthy factory owner and member of the Lucock family who recognized and nurtured his talent. After pressure by his family as he was still without wife and kids, he adopted the boy and taught him all there is to know about society and sciences. It took Hendric a good while to warm up, but he and his foster father eventually grew closer. He always felt like an outsider to the Shooter society, but grew into an overachiever and as he found a passion for tinkering with machines, he tried to contibute to life on Jo'arca by trying to develop alternatives to harvesting gems for energy. But when he found out that his father made use of his inventions in weapon production, he felt deeply betrayed and left home.

  It was when he was far away in the Capitol trying to make a life for himself when he got news that his foster parent fell prey to an early death. He was heartbroken and full of regret that he couldn't make amends after their fight, and had nowhere to return to as the rest of the Lucock clan couldn't care less about him.

  Eventually, he managed to find himself employment in the overlord's family as private teacher, partially to avoid the military draft, but also in hopes of being able to make a change in one way or another. When he saw how badly the young Domino got treated by his father, Hendric felt sorry for him and tried to confront Sterling Senior, only to be forcefully reminded of his place with an impromptu wax seal stamp branding on his hand. It didn't take long and the old Overlord found death perfectly fine without his assistance, but by then he had grown to like the young heir Domino and is still serving him years later.
