Universes build upon themselves in three ways: Things are given reason to exist, made to exist, and set into motion. D'être, in this system, acts as a cosmic receptionist, carving niches into the universe for concepts to fit into and allowing them to exercise their full potential.
In comparison to the other active concepts, sie takes hir job far more seriously. Too seriously, some might say. Just like the rest of the pantheon, there's a bit of hir in every last atom in the known multiverse. Sie would rather not dirty hir hands with the material riffraff present below when so much else demands their attention- why interfere in the lives of lower beings when they can't even grasp your existence to begin with? What sie can bring hirself to meddle in, though, are the affairs of other concepts. As sie sees it, beings with as much power as they have should exercise due caution when dipping their hands into their work.
Sie's sick of cleaning up everyone's messes.

Personality
D'être is rather difficult to read.
It's trivially easy for x to get lost in x's own thoughts. X always seems to have a faraway, analytic gaze on x's face, and rarely snaps out of it unless overtly prompted. X is fixated on the potential paths that everything x interacts with could take, overthinking what path would suit their overarching reason for existence the best in the long run. It's pointless for x to nudge them in any one direction, seeing as x's very existence predetermines that any path they follow would be the "right one," but having a physical form has warped x's viewpoint on those x oversees to the point of subconsciously lowering xself to their level.
X can't stand people who squander their potential, nor can x stand people who ask x to act outside of their means. Despite x's appearances, x is not a person, just a shell for an abstract concept to manifest through, and x's own capability to manipulate xself is just that- not the miracles or deep, fate-changing events that are often asked of x. Everyone's purpose is pre-set, and x can only push that along, not change it altogether.
Skills
Foundational Concept
D'être cannot be killed, nor can they die. If their physical body is killed, it'll just respawn within a few days or so. "Killing" D'être would mean wiping out a good chunk of reality with them.
Strings of Fate
Every living thing has a reason to exist, a starting point and an ending point, and an infinite number of branching paths in between. D'être, existing outside of the rules of time and space, has full awareness of each and every one of these "alternate timelines," and can shift reality towards the fastest available route.
Looking Glass
Another byproduct of their nature, D'être can offer xself up as a conduit to view one's own future, and the circumstances that would lead to any given variation. It's trivial for them due to their omnipresent nature, but anyone who views their futures in this manner is, essentially, given the ability to decide their own fate down to the most minute details.
Summary
Everything in the universe is nothing but a flawed reflection of a higher concept.
The ur-manifestation of purpose, D'être was around long before the universe even existed. In the hypercompressed ball of matter hatching itself into a new universe, every atom already contained a fraction of x's being. Once again, x had been dealt the poorer hand- yet another hundreds of millions of lifetimes spent lowered to the level of a cosmic janitor.
At least x got a sword this time.
Show me reason.
D'être is no stranger to the song and dance of forming new realities. Sometimes intentional, sometimes not, they bloom into existence and begin to plot themselves out. They work in tandem with an infinite cadre of abstract thoughtforms, anything and everything that could exist, material or imagined, having another fraction of their being segmented into the forming worlds. Should any of them decline, anything that would stem from their concept would be entirely absent- for some, their compliance is more important than others.
D'être takes their duty hands-off. By virtue of their very existence, everything in a new universe is already set into motion. They needn't concern themselves with what happens beyond their initial addition when it's all inevitable anyways. They're a higher being- it'd just be stupid to stick their nose into the affairs of anything with a brain made of matter. Watching them go through the motions of daily life is like watching ants putt around in an ant farm, working on a preprogrammed path towards a greater goal that none of them could possibly understand. It's almost cute.
It's not uncommon, though, that they're forced to intervene. The only thing that can throw a concept out of whack is another concept mucking around in the universe they made, and there's been a surprising influx of tomfoolery in the one they've currently holed up in. A disregard, even, for the natural order- considering the fact that they represent this very concept, it only makes sense that the sudden upset would affect their own stability. They've done this a million times, they don't have any interest in doing it again, but they have to. Unless, of course, they want their brand-new, shiny reality to implode on itself.
D'être currently works as the Chief of Personnel for the Foundation for Societal Preservation, a pet project of another concept dedicated to keeping the fruits of her existence sequestered away from the general public. It always seems to be her that they end up cleaning up after- they've spent untold millennia keeping her in check, but it never gets any less frustrating to have to follow in the wake of every misshapen cosmic mess rising from the primordial soup of her abstract being. With the Foundation's manpower at their command, D'être is steadfast and dutiful, with an almost eerie knowledge of every anomaly they're sent into the field to prepare, transport, and contain. They've never been one for conversation, but their presence demands an inherent respect that makes them perfect for their position.

their presence carries an aura of authority to it. it's just another slice of their concept.
