Basil is a cool, collected woman with quite a lot of baggage that she nevertheless carries dutifully. She is mature, responsible, level-headed and, to her misfortune, incredibly powerful.

Basil finds herself often being very down-to-Earth, complimented by her steady voice and unwavering demeanor. She fears little, but has the humility to respect others and the wisdom to take things slow and steady. She is task-oriented and can keep her focus despite any distractions, but isn't humorless or above the occasional repartee with friends. She works hard and relaxes easy, finding high-energy hobbies to be tedious and exhausting, but curiously not feeling the same about high-energy jobs.
Some call her dull, but that's how she likes it. Her idea of a perfect day is a calm Monday spent sitting in a windowsill with a mug of warm apple cider and an electronic book with an exploration novel, looking out from her top-story studio loft into the municipal gardens below on a bright Summer's eve.

History

Basil was born to an ultra-religious Inkdrian mother and a military scorpion father. Though the two were strict upon her in her early years, they never strayed far from showing genuine kindness and care for her. She was reared with a lot of reepect for her parents, and thanks to her father's influence, she was also quite proud of her militant heritage. She'd bonded more easily with her father than her mother, though she still cared for her bearer very much, and when she came of age, she even enlisted to serve.

Her military career was a successful one, as respect and duty came to her easily. In fact, due in large part to her rigorous exercise and natural affinity for combat, she found herself excelling quite well as a foot soldier, whilst also befriending many officials higher in ranks. She was popular enough among the powerful that after only a scant year or so of serving, she was approached by a talent scout for a more... Prestigious enlistment. With her capabilities and loyalty, she'd been considered for a black operations unit within her military, giving her the chance to keep her country safe from even the most daunting of threats.

Though things seemed to have been going well for her, it all changed during a single assignment in a foreign nation. She was simply meant to gather intelligence without being noticed, for security reasons assuredly, alongside a friend of hers that she'd grown close to during her time in the black ops force. She nevertheless was discovered, and amidst her attempt to escape, was captured. In a vain attempt to save her, her partner was also captured, and eventually the two were tortured for information regarding whom they served under. The two never told, and after a brief incident, Basil escaped from her captuvity with her life, though not without suffering the loss of her partner.

Feeling disillusioned with the costs of the job and the callousness of her workplace in response to her friend's demise, Basil then left her Black Ops. force, and left the military in its entirety, using her retirement funds that had been afforded to her after the traumatic experience to seclude herself from the world.

Many years passed where she remained on her own, staying within the boundaries of her novels in a small studio perhaps a step or two above a poverish lifestyle. It was in that city that she'd escaped to, however, that another major event in her life took place; her meeting with Ty Folia.

At the time, Ty had just purchased the proceedings to her then-new film studio, Tiger's Eye Studio, and had been recruiting talent in her usual manner. Though the two did not hit it off very well(Ty and Basil have very different reports for who was more offebsive to whom), Basil nevertheless accepted the offer to an audition, where she acted spectacularly to Ty's expectations.

She is currently the deutertagonist in Tiger's Eye Studio's "The Last White Tiger", where she plays the role of the Black Zodiac Scorpio, a previous enemy-turned-ally to the other lead character, Taiga (played by Ty Folia).

Abilities

Basil's combat prowess is a potent combination of natural talent combined with dedicated, rigorous training and exercise. Thanks to her upbringing, Basil believed for much of her life that physical and mental prowess in unison were the ultimate way to earn respect and be a useful human being. This is reflected pretty well in het strength, combining incredible strength with a sharp, tactical mind. Though she fights without a weapon most of the time, she more than makes do by utilising her military training and her own willpower.

Aiding in her forceful approach comes the "natural" side of her skills, in the form of her scorpion tail. This natural dart has proven itself incredibly useful to her in most of her militant pursuits, as not only is it her strongest and fastest limb, but it naturally secretes a potent venom that has proven to be the downfall to many of her enemies. Her dart is so integral to her fighting style, that during her time in her country's black ops., she and her partner developed a martial arts surrounding it's use. She has trained it to not only attack and thrash against foes at an unbelievable speed, but she can even defend herself with such a sense of speed and accuracy that even the fastest of close-quarters combatants would be hard pressed to stand a chance against it. 

As if to compound on these abilities, she also inherited a strange trait from her father, adapted into her Inkdrian heritage as well; her inky skin can, at will, harden into a carbon armour around her skin identical in appearance to her normal form. When her skin is hardened this way, her movement is extremely limited for obvious reasons, and as a result, she developed her personal martial arts around this ability as well. Utilizing her tail's flexibility and her skin's hardness, she can become an unstoppable wall that simply cannot be breached up close. 

And of course, there is her army-destroying elephant-in-the-room that is her "affinity" to black lights. Again, thanks to the inheritance of her scorpion father interacting with her Inkdrian heritage, Basil's skin reacts in a somewhat minor way to exposure from a black light. Her Ink reflects the light in a spectacular way, causing her body to become bio-luminescent and reflect unusual colours. However, due to the reaction causing strange influxes in her body's chemical makeup, and combined with extreme trauma she's suffered in her past thanks to this anomaly, exposure to black lights instinctively triggers a defensive ID that will stop at nothing to seek out and destroy any threats, perceived or otherwise. This form takes advantage of all of her previously-mentioned advantages in combat to their fullest effect, making use of her loss of restraint to become a horrifyingly efficient combatant. In this form she becomes sharp enough in her senses that oncoming gunfire can be braced against or deflected outright with her hardened skin and tail, and her movements, whilst stiff and slow in terms of distance, become invisible to the eye when engaging someone in combat.

As colourfully described previously, this weakness to black lights is something Basil does not accept about herself, and she has tried to purge herself of it, though thanks to the events that led to her losing her militant partner and withdrawing from her military, she has found it nigh-impossible to even attempt to escape this nightmarish trigger. Because of this, she has developed an intense fear of the lights even when she isn't being exposed to them. 

All of that said, however, she doesn't let herself be defined by her past mistakes. She has spent many, many years painfully and clumsily moving beyond what happened in her past, and for now, it would seem she has succeeded, even if only somewhat. Thanks to this, from an objective standpoint at least, her greatest weakness currently is that she simply hasn't been training for several years. Though she practices the core of her old martial arts to assist in acting for her studio, her training is not even close to the same intensity she was used to when she worked for the military. Whilst this is wonderful news in terms of her overall life, nevertheless from a combat perspective, she is weaker now that she's ever been for any of her adult life.

And honestly, she's probably okay with that.
