On the first meeting alone, their start ended on a sour note. Meeting through their respective superiors with a pretext that they should get along, the two already had some idea of each other. To Ineko, Tachihara was arrogant and violent with the pride to match while Ineko was friendly and breezy with little to no care about her job. The two’s impressions weren’t the best and their introduction only made it worse. Their conversation consisted of Ineko looking for a reaction as she found him amusing and Tachihara doing his best to stay patient until he finally grew tired of her. Their meeting ended in a full blown argument and Ineko would spend some time trying to apologize for her rude behavior along with trying to prove to Michizou that her apology was genuine. Ineko eventually managed to smooth things over and their friendship began to grow slowly as the female's genuine desire in wanting to know him made Michizou give her a chance. Ineko always managed to catch him when she wasn't busy and would tag along with whatever Michizou happened to be doing, much to his annoyance. It took time for Michizou to become used to Ineko's strange habits but he becomes less bothered by her over time.

For Ineko, the friendship she had with Michizou was surprisingly comfortable. As someone that likes to get close to others yet maintain some distance, the male’s way of just accepting whatever she did without much question made Ineko want to get closer without the distance. It was the sense of care he extended to her like everyone else that confused her and ultimately appealed to her. Likewise Michizou was lured in by the small moments where Ineko was calmer and not putting on a show of being carefree in her actions, the duality between how she interacted with those she didn’t consider herself close to compared to those she did was something that made him watch her more. The two’s friendship was simply building on careful observations and the likeness for the things they saw.

By the time anything significant happens, the two are already closer compared to most in terms of Ineko’s standards. As he was one of the few that knew of Ineko’s desire to find her friend Nakano, Michizou's worry over her was understandable when she suddenly disappeared for days at a time. After asking around and debating if it was ok to visit, he eventually did and was met with a wall as Ineko refused to let him in. He would visit everyday afterwards and be met with the same response until Ineko finally stepped out to find him sleeping against the wall. The sight was more than enough to make her emotional as she wasn’t in the best of states and she couldn’t understand why someone would go so far for her. Fighting off tears, Ineko simply ushered inside. There were no words spoken as Michizou simply wanted to keep her company as he knew Ineko didn’t like to be alone and for that she was extremely grateful.

From there he would visit everyday, often with food, and kept her company. The two mainly watched tv or just talked when Ineko wanted too. Reminiscing on past relationships the two would find that they had similar experiences regarding grief as Ineko would learn a bit about the male’s brother and how he dealt with the loss and Ineko would in turn talk about how thankful she was to have met Nakano. There was a sense of understanding felt between the two and it was the small actions of consideration and gentleness from someone that was usually loud and crass that made Ineko look at him differently. Eventually thanking him for staying with her despite him telling her that it wasn’t needed, Ineko would kiss him quickly due to running on high emotions and ultimately being confused by them. Taking in his almost stunned reaction, Ineko felt something akin to shame as left the situation just as quickly as she kissed him, leaving Michizou to mull quietly in her living room.

There was a noticable sense of awkardness between the two after this, something the were evenutally forced to face due to others as it was affecting their work. Bringing it up first, Ineko admits that she likes him, likes him more than she can bear before asking if he would be okay with someone like her. At his heavy recluntance at giving an answer, the woman quietly asks if he was agaisnt the idea and that she was fine with staying friends. Practically shouting that he was more than okay with dating her, the two were left flustered as they began dating. However Ineko can't help but notice the way he looks at her with guilt when she thinks he isn't looking.
