Owen

Owen is an animation student at Beauxforte University of the Arts in Massachussetts. For the most part, Owen's easy to startle and is a bit of an awkward turtle. He's pretty shy and socially awkward and keeps to himself a lot. He can be a little standoffish and rude, but it's mostly when he needs space.  He doesn't sleep nearly as much as he should and his level of sarcasm is directly proportional to how tired he is.

He wears the same ratty hat all the time and gets really antsy if he isnt. He's bad at remembering to take care of himself, mostly just because he's constantly getting distracted. While Owen is dedicated to his program, he also really enjoys "studying" by watching (and rewatching) cartoons. He draws all the time and has a couple of his own characters, but he's very embarrassed and worries they're not cool enough so he never posts them anywhere. "His" art is integrated into my toyhouse!

Early in his second year, Owen is accosted by a weird stranger - who proceeds to trick him, turn into an otherworldy monster, and rip his heart out.

Owen's pact with Akili forces him into the devils' dominance tournament, now contending with twenty-some-odd other devils (and their humans) trying to kill him while also managing his college semester.

Owen and Akili are a hardy little team. Akili uses two Augment spells on Owen: the first messes with his pain receptors and allows him to surpass his usual physical limits, the second grants him an extreme healing factor. He is able to hit things like a literal truck, snap most of his joints, and be fine thirty seconds later. Not that this doesn't hurt like a bitch, though.

Outside of tournament business, while Owen resents Akili at first, the two become fairly close and behave akin to brothers. They kinda take care of each other.
