A girl who desperately seeks escapism. She's always daydreaming and tries to keep out of drama. She decided to become a magical girl because it sounded like a fantastical escape from the worries of her everyday life.

Yuko hates conflict, and always lets people walk all over her. Her close friend Chigusa was targeted for years by a group of schoolyard bullies, and Yuko never once stood up for her. Because of her passivity, the bullies eventually befriended Yuko, while Chigusa continued to suffer at their hands.

Eventually, Chigusa moved and changed schools to escape the bullying, and Yuko was left behind. She blamed herself for what happened to Chigusa, and it caused her to retreat deeper into herself, harboring guilt and self hatred. Kyubey approached her around this time and offered a contract.

She wished for Chigusa's everlasting happiness. Despite making that wish for her sake, Yuko has never attempted to contact her, and believes her friend is better off without her around. She hopes to make a new beginning for herself living life as a puella magi.

In battles she wields dozens of delicate knives, engraved with flowers. Her magic is blindingly bright and takes the form of blooming flowers and butterflies.
