Profile

Name: Wrenell

Gender: Female, bisexual

Age/DOB: aged, appears late-teens, chronologically 8?, 2030?

Origin: Repurposed Earth, AAEC

Family: an ELL by half her DNA, her 'donor father' is Whilce Breen, clone of Wallace Breen, and her donor 'mother' is Argent, clone of Silver... she's a far cry from some ELLs out there, but she's still got at least half of her 'sisters' genes

Other: she is sure that she'll be able to find a partner among the riders of the Rookery, won't this be a blast?

Height: 5'9"

Weight: ~100* Icarus significantly lightens her frame and makes her body much more durable than it would be, she's leggy and has pleasant curves but don't be fooled, she's very strong

Hair: platinum silver, dead straight, kept to neck or shoulders as shown

Eyes: strongly blue, almond shaped with heavy lashes, under elegant brows

Appearance: light skinned with a fainly bronze sheen if she gets much sun; she generally looks and acts like a 'beach girl', with a mixture of a southern-twang and a recreated SoCal surfer vocabulary; while she does wear the ELL outfits she has made sure they're modified to look good and be flexible enough to not rip or get caught on things as she's cruising around facilities; Doll made on Meiker / Athletic
Icarus Processing: Yes, while being aged in the lab, this process reduced her weight, and strengthened her body significantly. Her bones are very strong, resisting being broken even by heavy items falling on her. She is able to run markedly faster than normal, up to 3x faster, and for at least twice as long before tiring out. Wrenell is very flexible, acrobatic, and has always got a sense of direction to her spins and drops, meaning she can think with Portals very easily, and doesn't take any kind of damage from the weird cross-dimension or local teleportation that Rookery riders are apt to use. Also she is nearly impervious to cold or very hot locations, though she can still get frostbite or be burned, her tolerance for ambient temperature and conditions is quite high.

Genetic Abilities: since both of her non-ELL parents are clones and Icarus treated, it stands to reason that her genetically latent powers show up in full. She has very strong empathy particularly with ELLs and those in her family, and can 'ping' nearly any of them if she knows where they are, within about 100 miles. Her emotional reading is keyed to understanding motives, and making sure that people who say they're on the up-and-up actually are. She can detect distress in people who are good at hiding their emotions, and can gently prod responses from those who have all but fallen apart. This can only be done one-on-one, and only at close range, preferably less than 10 meters, or touch which is best. She doesn't have much mechanical aptitude to speak of, but she can casually pick up a 'broken' piece of machinery and use it as though it was fine. It will stop working moments after she stops using it. She does easily see Vortally 'hidden' people or items which have been altered by those with powers, they light up for her as though with a spotlight.
Skills or Profession: while she was given the standard educational downloads common to both normal Enrichment Center children and the more service-oriented ELL information, Wrenell is much more about the communication and social aspects of life in the Rookery as well in any given ruined world. Though she cannot really fix the items she spots in the wastes, she knows a communication unit from a toaster oven, and has a list of folks best suited to fixing or using those things right with her. She can unerringly spot people she's met before, and has an incredibly good memory for places, names, and passwords. Though she's not as outright intelligent as the scientists in her line, she's deviously clever, and can think her way out of very complicated situations. She loves to climb, run, and explore, and as such she also knows how to find hiding places, hunt and cook in the wild, and can use simple weapons such as knives, pistols, and particularly she likes the thought of using a longer spear or lance - like in those movies or books! On a dragon, this isn't nearly as weird as it might seem.

Personality: Exactly as SoCal - Hillbilly - Post-Apocalyptic as you could get. While she is almost unerringly cheerful, she also does have a serious side, and knows better than to interrupt a somber moment with a joke or other action. But she does her best to cheer people who can be, to hook others up with the right help, and even to guide people around locations that they would otherwise get lost in. She really does enjoy people and being around them, and when she finally does retire for the evening she likes to have a dorm either near a lot of others, or even just a shared crash dorm.

Events or History: Created just after the Rookery was discovered, but before it really got going. Though she was born from Argent, she was mixed in the lab, and implanted. She enjoyed a little time with mom and dad, but was aged after around age 2 into a young teenager. Even then, her hair had already turned from a strawberry blond to platinum blond, and by the time she is as a 'late' teen it's almost entirely silver-champagne. Both sides of her born-line have this feature, and she enjoys the attention it gets her! She is well aware that her parents are both clones of some other people, but Breen himself doesn't play much if any role in her life. Silver, however, really loves having another 'not quite my own child' nearby, and has contributed strongly to Wrenell's socialization. The ELLs on any site pay attention to her when she asks questions or needs help they can provide, but otherwise they know she's more or less "one of Mel's Weird Experiments". Whilce however is thrilled to have a girl that can keep up with him on his jaunts around the facilities, and also help keep track of people who need eyes on them when he can't be there.

She relishes this duty, always willing to head into a crowded area, constantly bumping against people and getting glimpses of their emotions while doing so. She doesn't let them sweep her away, she learned how to control those powers very early on.

So now... now she's been taken shortly after Josh, to this odd place called Istabitha. There are tons of people here that could use a helping hand, and she is easily able to give that.

She was absolutely smitten with the whole place. It was underground, surrounded by plenty of beautiful landscape - she was comfortable more in the caverns and passages, the halls carved from stone and reinforced with metals, than above. And she'd easily fallen in with the group of younger candidates, though there were few that could really be considered 'young' ... and certainly, none were actually as young as she technically was! But no one needed to hear about that. She was more concerned with the way that some of them fretted, others hemmed and hawed before they got around to telling their own stories... if they told them to anyone at all. Wrenell didn't pry. In good time, she knew, whatever would come from their private lives would be their own.

But she did really enjoy the company of a girl with brown hair and pretty eyes, and they made a great team wandering the halls during the courses they were required to take. How to behave around a dragon, how to snug a strap around a harness. There were so many things to remember! But Wrenell knew she was hardly going to be on a fighting dragon! Oh heavens no. The dragons of the Rookery were growing in number, but if one thing was certain it was that the fighters were already well set - and they needed transportation, protection, service runners, and just ... warm bodies with a friendly mount.

These dragons who guarded the large nest were warm, friendly, they had so much going on around them. Their minds weren't exactly open books to her, but she knew they had their own conversations at their own particular Vortal frequencies. And soon enough, while classes were still in session one beautiful afternoon, a thrilling sensation came over her. The hatching was going to be starting! The dragons announced it, singing, the whole place came alive with activity.

There was a strange hesitation in her friend Namiya as they raced into the hatching sands, she waved to someone in the shadows - someone with an oddly familiar aura.

But there was no time to dedicate to that! She pulled Namiya's hand, they raced over to the sands and took a look around. Eggs eggs eggs, and their parents looming near, looking restless but happy. So many in the stands now, when they'd last been in this chamber to touch the eggs, those stands had been all but empty save for a few on hand just in case anything happened.

Wrenell spotted Dr Freeman and Barney up among the visiting folks, and over near the Weyrwoman herself, were Mr Lane and Melissa. It was kind of a shame that her own 'parents' weren't here to see this, but then they had their own duties to attend to. Plus you couldn't very well drag every ELL to the event, they'd practically fill the stands with their orange-jumpsuited selves!

The hatching started and it was amazing to an empath like herself. She wondered how Mr Lane felt, up in the stands. After all, she knew thanks to Melissa's chatter about it, that he was quite a bit stronger than most in that regard. But egg after egg broke, or shattered against its peers, or had, like Josh's, been cleaned up by firelizards. All until...

The next egg that began hatching looked somewhat normal and commonplace- all the eggs actually had odd muted notes, but showed dragonets within that had hints of varied shades running through their hide.

But this? This was a seemingly very ordinary egg. But it held two less than ordinary dragons. One that was brilliantly white – as white as Ajandeykth, who looked rather smug, and the other, rich lava red-black mottled in color.

The seemingly very ordinary white dragon took little time before ambling over to the candidates. Hands and cheerful voices waved, but she ignored them all to head straight to one candidate.

'Namiya,' she creeled, her eyes swirling with rainbows. 'We have great things we need to accomplish! But first we should wait and watch!'

The project smiled, and for a second, it was maybe a trick of light, but her eyes seemed to gleam gold. "Perdeth , I absolutely agree."

It was not a surprise to anyone that her 'suddenly best friend' who'd only barely arrived with Mel and Keenan, had found her own way to the red-lava colored sibling in that ordinary … now shattered shell. Wrenell was as excited and swept away as she could be, as an empath surrounded by extremely strong emotions.

"Hwamith, I know it's a bit overwhelming. We'll be okay!" Wrenell exclaimed, quietly, trying to reassure both herself and the hatchling that it would be.

They too had to pause for a moment, however, because their path off the sands was blocked. The pale hued hatchling's patience, and her human bond's curiosity, were rewarded as the larger nearby egg snapped, cracks appearing finely across the surface as a shard broke off, knocked over by the wing tip. After the next couple of impressions, they made their way off the sands and into their new lives!

It was only about half the time that other riders remained on at Istabitha's, when Josh and Wrenell were requested back at the Rookery to resume their duties, and find new ones. But within that nearly-year, their dragons grew into... well, they grew into their colors! Markings that had been pale or muted sprang into vivid patterns almost overnight. So by the time these dragonets were ready to try flying for the first time, it was a much more colorful bunch than had come out from their shells that one busy afternoon.

Some of the other off-world folk had already cleared out, they had things to do, they would learn what to do after crash courses with more experienced riders - but they were needed elsewhere. Josh and Wren could take a little more time, but the Rookery did await them. Not urgently. But still. This wasn't quite their right place. Wrenell explained to Hwamith where they were going, and what their own duties might be.

But first, flight training for them. Honestly she surprised the weyrling trainer, since Hwamith was quite small, only her shell-sister Perdeth was as little in this surprising double-clutch. Small but powerful wings, and determination for days, Hwamith took to the air with reasonable ease, but would clearly never be a fighting dragon. That suited her rider just fine - she didn't much care for the violence that existed beyond the walls of the Enrichment Center or the Rookery itself, and she had been created in basically a time of recovery and rebuilding. Just like Josh, which made both of them introspective.

Of course, her dragon could fly circles around his, being literally half the size... They challenged one another, though not in any heavily competitive way - they liked to watch and listen to the onlookers gasps of surprise. But overall, this small dragoness grew into her gorgeous adult coloration with style and ease. While other dragons were gaining bulk, Hwamith remained sleek and small. Their duties would eventually include screening refugees for issues and personality traits, as well as putting them at ease in their new surroundings. Getting them used to there being dragons around them too, it helped that this small sized but brilliantly beautiful dragoness was there to help with that.

Powers: Mostly standard Pernese
Winged Flight, though she's small, she is stable and quick in the air. Not for very long, but she can lift Wrenell easily, and carry a passenger with a little effort for a mile or two. Generally speaking she speeds through the halls and relies more on her other skills than flight. But she can hover beautifully, casting a bit of wind around herself in doing.
Teleportation, Hwamith is remarkably adept with this power, possibly due to her eventual move to the Rookery. She needs no flying or even running to 'move into' it, she simply pops in and out of any place that's large enough to handle her. The pop from her displacement of air is actually quite pleasant, subtle, more like a puff of wind, than a blow or cymbal crash. She can move nearly 100 miles at a time, but prefers short distances such as 'into the next room' or 'above and back down underground' as those don't tire her out as much. The longer the distance, the more out of breath she is. Also she can only take about her rider and some gear, or perhaps a small second rider, on any of these jaunts.
Genrehopping, thanks to her parentage relying strongly on magic, and being extremely immersed in it wherever they go, Hwamith is capable of moving sideways between dimensions that are similar, or to specific locations outside of that. So she will be able to return to Istabitha's halls - where ever they actually wind up being - as well as Carramba's Magic campus, Gelgela (on either Dragondeep or its native world), Two- Vault- Aperture- or other -Earths as they are connected to the Rookery. She does prefer on-site teleportation rather than this dramatic movement, however, because she must rest fully for a few hours before she's even capable of flight after the port.
Communication, Telepathic with bond, dragons, and other Vortal minds, Hwamith has a warm feeling to her mind, but be warned, she is also fairly sharp, her shout can stun minds if they're nearby. She also can speak vocally, knowing a hissing and somewhat difficult English, and understands an amount of Vortigese as well, and tends to default to it when in the company of Vorts.
Assisted Firebreath, like almost all Pernese dragons, she is capable of chewing some form of chemicals that break down in her 'fire gut', and then can be spat out to ignite on contact with nitrogen-oxygen rich air. And that thought is absolutely vile, it will never ever happen, and she regrets having to learn how to do it even once during training. She will pass this ability on, however, to any offspring. It will easily be overtaken by unassisted fire-based breath if that's an option of her partner.
Parentage: Ajandeykth (Istabitha) + Birth (Lantessama) * twin egg with Namiya's Perdeth; other siblings include Kozharth, Langhwath, Huuth, Luvitbeth, Terbith, Terbenamith
Origin: Istabitha Weyr's Valentines 2021 clutch
Other Info: She would love to help her rider pair up with some nice fellow. Of all the 'red' colored dragonesses, she's certainly the most 'green' in flirtatious attitudes. Also, it appears her coloration is based off of the Crimson Sunbird.
