Moa

Moa was a former slave to Celandine, but was kidnapped by Doris and her gang for ransom; believed to be a noble woman due to her uncropped ears. She was reluctant to join the gang at first, but soon found excitement in freedom. 

Moa was a lady's maid to the daughter of the previous Empress, Empress Dina, both of whom were slaughtered when Celandine overthrew the city. In order to trick Moa, as well as any other loyal slaves of the Empress, Celandine gave them all trinkets that she plundered from the Empress's treasury. Any slave that sold the jewellery was slaughtered. Moa doesn't know the reason for this, reckoning her motive just to be a sick game. But she wears the earring Celandine gave her: a golden scalloped earring, taken from the ear of the deceased Empress's daughter. The lesser slaves had their lapine ears cropped by Celandine, so it was clear who they were to everyone. It's unclear why Celandine didn't do this to Moa and her old Empress's slaves; perhaps to create distrust and envy. 

Doris and Moa were captured by slavers not long after departing the first city they tried to hide in, but were saved by Euthalia, with the help of a certain witch, who was stumbled upon while roaming the forest.
