Planet Cain

World Information: The Cain World (Plateau Universe)

Societal Structure

The world is deeply divided into two main societal categories: Predators and Prey. These distinctions shape the social hierarchy, culture, and power dynamics of the world. For the lucky few, you can be born mixed into a third category but are deeply discriminated against and looked down upon even worse than prey:

Predators: As the dominant category, predators hold the most power, influence, and wealth. The larger or more dangerous the predator, the higher their status. Predators often look down on prey species, viewing them as inferior.

Prey: Prey species face systemic discrimination, with smaller and weaker prey being particularly vulnerable. Their lives are fraught with danger, as they are often targeted or oppressed by predators. Despite these challenges, prey communities have developed resilience and ingenuity to survive.

Mixed Species: The offspring of two different species, mixed species often face unique challenges. Depending on their characteristics, they may be classified as predators, prey, or mutated individuals, as determined by the Inherited Classification Rule (Class ID Cards).

   Species Categories

The world encompasses a vast array of species grouped into these categories:

1. Mammals

2. Birds

3. Reptiles

4. Amphibians

5. Fish

6. Bugs & Water Invertebrates

8. Mixed (speices offspring of different animal pairings, either of two different parents, or parents with multi traits in one)

Cities

  Golden City

Location: On land, sprawling across the central plains.

Description: The largest city and the heart of commerce, culture, and technology. It houses the majority of land-dwelling animals, including both predators and prey.

Population: Predominantly predators, though prey populations reside in designated districts for safety.

Special Features: Home to massive skyscrapers, bustling markets, and cutting-edge laboratories.

  Ironwood Heights

Location: In the dense northern forests.

Description: Known for its military academies and industrial centers. Predators dominate here, with prey living on the outskirts. It has a reputation for strict laws and advanced weaponry development.

Specialty: Home to the elite predator military and defense companies.

  Coral Crest

Location: Underwater, near tropical reefs.

Description: A vibrant underwater city, home to marine predators like sharks, eels, and barracudas. Prey species like small fish and crustaceans exist in lower social tiers.

Economy: Driven by tourism and aquaculture.

Culture: Known for its stunning coral architecture and annual water festivals.

  Abyssal Deep

Location: Deep ocean trenches.

Description: A mysterious city ruled by deep-sea predators like anglerfish and squids. It’s a hub for scientific research and deep-sea mining.

Culture: Highly secretive, with strict entry requirements. Glow technology illuminates the city’s darkest corners.

  Night Light Cove

Location: Underground caves.

Description: A haven for bugs and water invertebrates. The city glows with bioluminescent lights and is renowned for its intricate architecture and self-sustaining ecosystems.

Economy: Trades in rare minerals, silk, and medicines derived from invertebrates.

Specialty: Houses some of the world’s most advanced bio-engineering labs.

  Education and Work

  Schools:

  - Prey and predator children often attend separate schools due to safety concerns. However, because some species have too many kids, they opt to have the young species together as kids in hopes that mixed schools will have fewer fights and judgment.

  - Mixed-species children face challenges in integration but are typically placed in neutral education zones.

  - Advanced predator academies train future leaders, soldiers, and scientists. These are only for academics, they differ from regular schools/colleges because they are more towards army-based education and separation of the species.

  Companies:

  - Tech Innovators: Founded by Stan F. Lane, a rabbit, this company has revolutionized communication, robotics, and AI. Despite being prey, Lane’s ingenuity has gained him respect in the predator-dominated business world. The current head of the department is Lilith X. Wright.

  - Aqua Drive Industries: Owned by the powerful axolotl family, the Wrights', this company specializes in creating cutting-edge vehicles for land, sea, and air. Their designs cater to predators but have recently expanded to include models for smaller prey species (those like rats, mice, etc).

  - Bright Hive Farms: A cooperative led by prey species, it focuses on sustainable agriculture and providing food security for vulnerable populations.

  Daily Life

Predators: Predators often live in luxury, with high-quality housing and access to the best resources. They dominate politics, media, and commerce. They mostly live in more of the very high to middle-class section.

Prey: Prey species live in tightly knit communities for protection. Many work in labor-intensive or creative fields, such as farming, textiles, or the arts. Most live in the middle-class, however, lots are very lower class.

Mixed Species: Mixed individuals face unique challenges and discrimination, but are celebrated in certain circles for their versatility and unique traits. The stronger the prey genetics the more you are okay with society, unlike species that look more towards prey genetics.

  Social Challenges

Discrimination: Prey and prey mixed species often face systemic biases, kidnapping, and being eaten alive if not careful.

Class Divide: Wealth and resources are disproportionately controlled by all and every predator.

Safety Concerns: Smaller prey species have limited mobility in predator-dominated areas.

  Culture and Innovation

Despite the divides, the world’s inhabitants have created a vibrant and dynamic culture:

Art: Prey species often express their struggles through music, painting, and storytelling.

Science: Predators dominate scientific research, particularly in weaponry, medicine, and transportation.

Technology: Prey innovators like Stan F. Lane are pushing boundaries, creating technologies that bridge societal gaps.

Sports: Mixed-species leagues are emerging as a unifying force, showcasing teamwork and diversity.
