Hoplite

The planet Hoplite, home to the insectoid, lagomorphic Hoplite people. Hoplite culture is incredibly combat-centered, with more peaceful moments punctuated with the building and maintenance of giant mechs, where the boldest fighter in each generation sees a mech passed down to them and personalized to their tastes. Their cultural acceptance of bloody battle and what most consider crime means Hoplites are a healthy amount of the galaxy's pirate population.

A much less cosmically known aspect of Hoplite culture, however, is music. Hoplites cannot understand others properly without some sort of musical experience shared between them- thus, ballads of victory and triumph are considered as valuable as golden-weaved tapestries, and Hoplite history is almost entirely passed down orally by song. Silent or musicless places are considered completely taboo on Hoplite, even in places where that silence facilitates necessary secrecy. While what style of music one plays to establish proper communication varies from person to person, seen as individual expression rather than ironclad cultural identity, it's common for allies in battle to harmonize by sharing their musical tastes between one another.

Hoplite is one of the core planets in the Moirosean Empire- many Moirosean ships see Hoplite captains and pilots. Despite this, pirates from Hoplite do not themselves act as privateers, and will often raid Moirosean cruise shuttles just as often as any other collective's vessels.
