With plenty of patience, Milo travels with Avarice cleaning up the trail of destruction she tends to leave behind. Milo is afraid she'd cause a mess or get herself lost or hurt without his help. He tries his best to teach her skills to be on her own, but she mostly goes by the beat of her own drum.
As Milo’s backpacking buddy, Hannah dedicates her time to pointing out the wonderful sights, leaving behind a messy trail of scrap and garbage, and borrowing a few (or many) of the tools Milo carries (having forgotten her own).
Tahro grew up with Phila and considers her to be almost a sister to him.
As Phila's mother babysat Tahro, Phila grew up alongside the moon elf, and it actually took her a few years to realize they weren't related. She loves to bully Tahro about his admiration for books and inaptitude for hand-to-hand combat, although she must admit his magic does come in handy for pulling pranks.
Tahro has a deep respect and curiosity for his father, choosing his adult name to include a portion of Thoren's own (Han-*Thore*). This doesn't stop the boy from following his defiant, wanderlust nature. After news of his Thoren's death, Tahro keeps a notch in his eyebrow that matches a scar etched into his late father's own brow.
Thoren has little respect for his son and still calls him by his birth name "Lor", despite Tahro having already chosen his adult name. He has (well, had, as Thoren died at the hands of an orc) high hopes for Tahro and his ability to inherit the title of baron. Tahro’s whimsical nature does instill plenty of doubts, though.
Tahro met Itoire during his time in the Rauvin Mountains, albeit in a dwarf-run tavern along the border. He fell head over heels for the tiny goblin’s brusque nature and their shared admiration for contemporary literature. Tahro still finds it hard to push past his prejudice against the goblin race, but he tries his very best.
Itoire heard of the “grey elves” infecting the border of the Tornskull and Heart Taker orc tribes and had to see the robber barons for themselves. What they didn’t expect was to meet the baron’s son while resting in a tavern before making the stealth journey. Despite Itoire’s best judgment, they asked the Teu-Tel-Quessir on something akin to a date and were startled to find him accepting the invitation. Although they’ve been a couple for nearly three years, Itoire can’t help but wonder if Tahro actually loves them or if they’re merely a passing fling every time Tahro accidentally slips a stereotypical comment.
"If you sail out far enough, you can see the beaches of our neighboring regions."
Arti met Meadowlark in one of the many bazaars across Suden. He admired her interest in the regions beyond Suden's and Central's borders, and eventually, the two became fast friends. Although Arti wishes Meadowlark to stay in Suden, he can see the adoration illuminating her eyes whenever others speak of Osten, and supports her endeavors.
"If you listen closely, you can hear the world beyond the walls."
Meadowlark met Arti in one of the many bazaars across Suden. She was ecstatic to discover that there was another Foo like her with an awareness of the world beyond the walls.
“While we are both aware of the shadows that form the canvas between the stars, you and I are far from the same.”
“You and I are not so different. It is a reality that will never fade, no matter the rosy paint you plaster it behind.”
“I don’t know which was scarier: the thought of encountering the cryptid or discovering she was just some stranger living in the hayloft.”
“You should’a seen your face, kikeke!”
Takoma worked as Grimbask's guardian for a brief few months before being banished. She's still sore about the entire situation to this day, loving to trespass on his little pond and pester his new Fooling guard.
Grimbask happily let Takoma work under him until he discovered what happened to Takoma's former master. Without a moment's hesitation, Grimbask banished Takoma from his land. He holds no regrets about his decision.
When he was younger, Katsu believed everything that Grimbask said, clinging to his every story with bated breath, but then Katsu grew up. He quickly realized Grimbask had a sizable ego, and Katsu lost a fair bit of respect for the deity. Nowadays, the Fooling doesn’t believe himself to be working under Grimbask, so much as he views himself as the guard for the spring where Grimbask’s shrine is located.
Grimbask is the deity who looks after Katsu as much as Katsu looks out for him. Katsu does not leave the spring, though, no matter the adventure Grimbask tumbles into, which leaves the unguarded deity rushing back home with hungry spirits on his heels. Grimbask always has an excuse for his cowardice, though, which leaves Katsu rolling his eyes as he shoos away the attackers.
Joy reveres Rally with child-like admiration, oblivious to her role-model's obvious flaws. Nevertheless, the two spend a lot of time playing together. Their bond is similar to that of an older sibling/cousin relationship.
Rally loves Joy like a sister, although she feels guilty because she's the one who caused Joy to be abandoned by her child, indirectly forcing the pink ragdoll to become a Thimblet.
