Hoshi is pretty much completely confused by Hasegawa, and just avoids him. He’s aware that they share a first name and is suspicious of how Hasegawa looks somewhat similar to his father.
Hasegawa, being an older version of Hoshi, wants to protect him, of course, but he’s afraid of messing up the timeline, and doesn’t know how to tell him about all the suffering he’ll be facing later on (not just the deaths at the end of the Egypt journey at that), so Hasegawa mostly just quietly watches over Hoshi from afar.
Seventh considers Yanase a good friend, and she can sometimes be seen chatting happily away at him (the chatting part is usually not mutual). Initially though, the only reason she would talk to him was due to his sounding a lot like Jotaro for some reason (same voice! same voice!).
Over time, she began to tell him more and more about herself, divulging her fears and other things she disliked talking about. He became her confidant, something that carried over in their relationship when she became Overseer. She considers him her moral chain, and finds security and safety in his presence.
Yanase is close to Seventh and even regards her as a friend. They don’t quite talk often, though Yanase thinks she can be annoying sometimes when they do. Despite that, they are fairly open with each other. They may have slept together once - no one’s really sure but it’s out there in the rumor mill, and with the way timelines work in the Ghost House, confirmation is only going to come from either of them, which neither are willing to provide. He’s also seen her Observer’s World form and finds it really interesting.
After Seventh assumed the role of Overseer, Yanase was the only one to stay behind with her. Yan views Seventh as his lady, and assumes a role of protector and right hand to her.
Utani makes everyone believe that he thinks Yanase is the funniest guy ever and would love to be friends with him (which means pranking everyone else together). This is despite being told to “fuck off” in many many different ways. In reality though, Utani believes that Yanase would be a powerful ally to have and is carefully working on a way to move from “annoyance” to “tolerable” in Yanase’s eyes…although there might just be a hint of an obsession there as well, not to mention a certain degree of attraction.
Ultimately, when the two do begin dating, Utani's obsession becomes a very unhealthy dependence on Yanase.
Yanase thinks he’s annoying for pestering him so much, but at the same time, he finds Utani’s pranks amusing and his company almost tolerable. Yanase likes him more than he likes anyone else in the Ghost House, except maybe Seventh. He is aware of Utani’s plans and such for him, and finds their interactions to be like a game…in other words, they’re playing each other until such a time that they can figure each other out completely. Yanase’s probably ahead though, and is looking forward to ‘using’ Utani.
When they begin dating, Yanase starts out barely having any actual emotion toward Utani, but he eventually starts to care, if in a very possessive manner.
