Characters here come from this thread and other donations!
If you got a character here and/or have a character that's connected to our world and no longer want them, you can send them back here if you want (definitely don't have to!).
These kiddos are ready to be sent to someone that will love them! We offer two free options (which we will honor) and a trade option, so that's why we decided on the game/contest tag.
General Rules (for free characters)
- Comment on the character's profile if you want the character, not the post on the forum. Also state in your comment whether you're doing the free writing option (WFC), free drawing option (DFC), or an art trade. This is so we know what to put on the transfer reason and how much time you have to complete it (for art options).
- Must do a WFC or a DFC; please state whether you'll be writing or drawing for the character.
- You may only claim one (1) freebie per month, which resets at the 1st of each month, whether doing a WFC or DFC. Exceptions are explained in the "Exceptions" section.
- This is on a mostly FCFS basis unless you don't follow the rules. If we're offline and there are multiple responses, we'll try to be fair when determining who'll get the character. Though we will prioritize staff/helper character claims.
- Please don't sell characters you get for free unless extra art in any medium is added (whether personal or comissioned)!
WFC (Write for Character)
- The entry needs to be at mimimum three (3) sentences to be accepted.
- The entry should be about the character you want.
- There is no maximum length.
- Please post WFC entries in the comments.
DFC (Draw for Character)
- For this free option, you will be drawing the character you want.
- The entry needs to be at mimimum an uncolored bust (can be digital or traditional) but can be more.
- The image will be due in two (2) weeks from when we accept your offer (can discuss extensions) and should be sent to the character's gallery or posted in the comments when done.
- Please don't start art until we've commented that the character will be on hold/pending for you, so multiple people don't do the art at the same time.
- You can only have one pending DFC at a time, meaning that you have to finish or cancel (yourself or because you didn't complete by the deadline) a DFC before doing a new one. This would apply in the case your DFC deadline would take you into the next month.
- The character will count as the freebie for the month it was put into pending for you, even if the art was completed into the next month.
Exceptions
- Staff and helpers using a claim as a reward for doing art and designs for the shelter do not have to do a WFC/DFC and may get multiple characters in a month using special character claims. They just need to comment on the character mentioning they're using said claim, or we need to say that one of our staff is using said claim. Otherwise, they'll be treated as if they're trying to use their monthly freebie (that does follow the rules above).
- If you just want a dollmaker we happen to have (in the need to redesign section), we'll just give it to you as long as the dollmaker has been here for at least a month. No need to do anything other than comment. This won't count for your monthly freebie either.
Art Trade
- Since art has been added to the characters here, most of them may also be traded for art (ones that can't will say)! There will be no limit to how many you can claim in exchange for art!
- Please state explictly if you're interested in this option by saying you want to do an art trade.
- The art piece drawn must be of one of the characters belonging to whoever did the fullbody drawing, which we will tell you if you state you're interested (unless the designer is outside the orphanage).
- Please attach your drawing in some way and link to the character you drew (unless there was only one character) when done! The character will be sent once the person you drew for accepts, so send the image to the designer's character too. We may make exceptions if certain designers or artists prefer images sent in other ways, but you still must show us the final image.
- Art can be digital or traditional, just try to get a decent quality picture for traditional. The minimum requirement for the art is a coloured bust!
- You'll have two (2) months to draw the art piece, starting from when we accept your offer (with extensions if discussed)!
- Please don't start art until we've commented that the character will be on hold/pending for you, so that multiple people don't do art at the same time.
- If you decide to claim a character for art, you must either do the art or cancel your claim if you do not want them anymore. If you do an art claim, you may not freebie claim the same character later on with one exception explained in the next sentence. If you've held for less than 2 weeks, then we can discuss possibility of DFC, since we allow 2 week holds for those.
