About The MistRunners
General Clan Info
The MistRunners are the Water Cats of the territory. They live on an island surrounded by water and the other three Groups. They are considered the best healers, as well as the most mysterious group of cats. Nobody truly understands their traditions, their way of life, and nobody can ever really tell what these cats are thinking.
Traditions
The MistRunners pride themselves in their healing capabilities. Every cat in the Clan learns basic healing properties from the Primary Healer in case of emergency, and the Primary Healer is one of the most respected and protected cats in the Clan. They will always have a Guard present with them wherever they go.
Heirs
This group of cats have a specific Hierarchy. The leader is at the top. The leader will always train their firstborn kit to be the leader after them, but should the leader not have kits, the deputy will take over. The deputy's first born kit will be trained to be the next deputy, but if the deputy does not have kits, then the leader will choose a new deputy. The same goes for the Primary Healer: this cat will also train their first born kit, however, should he or she not have kits, then the Primary Healer will choose their own successor and train them before they pass on.
Training
Training is different for different roles of the Clan. When the Leader dies, in order to prove that the new Leader is worthy of their position, they must spend one whole day swimming a circle around their island without pausing. Most say this task is impossible, but the leaders have secrets for how it is done. After that, the new Leader will get acquainted with the Deputy and form their bond as a Leader and Deputy pair.
When the Deputy dies, in order to prove that the new deputy is worthy, they must perform a dangerous task of the Leader's choosing, in order to test their loyalty. If the deputy does this task without question and efficiently completes the task, then the new Deputy will get acquainted with the Leader and form their bond as a Leader and Deputy pair.
When the Primary Healer dies, in order to prove that the new Primary Healer is worthy, they must spend three days and two nights in the Cave for their ancestors to decide their worthiness. Usually, they come out a wiser cat.
For Secondary Healers to finish their training, they must be tested by the Primary Healer, and only the Primary Healer will decide if the Secondary Healer is ready to finish their training.
The Guards of the Clan must be tested by the Deputy to see if they are worthy of becoming full Guards within the MistRunners. Their mentor will let the Deputy know that the apprentice is ready to be tested, but only the Deputy can decide if they are ready, and then request a naming ceremony to the Leader.
Warrior apprentices get tested by their mentors, but in order to become a full warrior within the MistRunners, they must prove their swimming capabilities. This will be judged by the Leader.
Clan Relations
The StoneRaisers
They are a "sort of" ally. The MistRunners don't have any issues with the StoneRaisers, but they aren't exactly friends, either. They stick to their own sides of the border and don't bother each other except when one needs help with something.
The AshCallers
At the current moment, the MistRunners are not too happy with the AshCallers. The previous leader was burnt to a crisp due to an accident, and the leader refuses to acknowledge this. Even though the MistRunners will continue to stay neutral, they are keeping a watchful eye on the fire cats.
The SwiftWalkers
Unknown Clan relation, due to the fact that the Clan has been MIA for seasons.
Roles
Leader
The leader is the highest respected member of the Clan. He or she (in this case, she), handles all the diplomatic relations and has the final say on what goes on in the Clan. She has her own personal guard at all times. She performs the ceremonies of kits becoming apprentices and apprentices becoming warriors. She does not, however, handle the Healer ceremonies - that is a whole different process. When becoming the leader, they will gain the suffix "Mist". The leader's word is law.
Deputy
The deputy is the leader's personal guard, and is also the leader of all of the guards. They will assign guards to their specific places, and watches over the camp. The deputy is second-in-command to the leader. The leader and deputy's family line goes down for many generations - the deputy's of the Clan have always worked with the leader's of the Clan for as long as any cat can remember. They are a highly respected member of the Clan and they execute and decisions that the leader makes.
Primary Healer
This is one of the most highly respected members of the Clan. They are the ones who speak regularly with their warrior ancestors, and guides the Clan in the right direction. They will enlist the help of Secondary Healers when necessary, and they always have a guard present for protection. The Primary Healer performs the ceremonies for Secondary Healers.
Secondary Healers
These cats are also healers - but by choice. If a cat realized that their calling is to heal instead of fight, then they train as a Secondary Healer. They are also respected members of the Clan, but they do not speak directly with their warrior ancestors. Only the Primary Healer does that. They help restock herbs and heal their clanmates.
Guards
These are the guardians of the Clan. They work day and night to protect the Clan as well as the most respected members of the Clan. Their training takes a little longer than most, because they must be sure that they are ready to risk their lives for their clanmates before they become a full Guard.
Warriors
Regular Clan members who hunt and fight and patrol borders. These cats run normal Clan lives, protecting their Clan when necessary and providing food for the old and young and weak. A Clan cannot run without strong warriors!
Apprentices
These are cats in training, whether they're training to be a Warrior, Guard, Secondary Healer, Primary Healer, Deputy, or Leader, they train hard for their specific role. They mainly stick with their specific role-group, but when they're not training they enjoy playing and lounging around with each other.
Kit-mothers
Kit-mothers are cats who are pregnant or raising kits! They are very respected members of the Clan, as they are the ones who raise their young until their apprenticeships, and they are the ones who populate the Clan.
Wise-ones
Elders! These cats have been around for generations, and younger cats enjoy going to them for advice or stories. Some wise-ones end up where they are due to injury, but otherwise, they are very well respected members of the Clan.
Kits
The youngest members of the Clan! Their future is decided at birth based on their build, coloring, and personality. They know their path the second they're old enough to understand the ways of Clan-life. Before their apprenticeship, they're playing and learning.
Notable Skills
The MistRunners are highly skilled at swimming, night-vision, fishing, hunting, and stealth. They are naturally agile and swift cats, making them a force to be reckoned with in battle. Their healing skills are also not to be underestimated. As their motto says, these cats are very resourceful and stealthy.
