Carved Blessings

(title is likely a placeholder)

In a world inhabited by anthroporphic animals, the worshipped deities are in the form of mythical beasts, each with their symbolic flower or plant and gem; sometimes, an individual is born with a blessing by one of these deities, which grants them a higher place in society.

However, not all blessings are welcome: sometimes, instead of flowers, horns, wings and gems, the latter can be found growing directly from inside the body, crystallizing wounds with scars of gems instead of simply growing on the skin in an aesthetically pleasing way, and what should have been a blessing becomes a curse instead.

Such is the fate of Princess Morgan, with her gem growth, usually proof of her royal blood, "healing" her scars instead of ornating her body ---but she isn't one to bend to public opinions, not thinking of her blessing as a curse, but as a chance to become stronger instead.

So, the runaway princess becomes a paladin, deciding to prove her worth and travel through her kingdom to resolve her people's problems in a way the corrupt, hypocritical state won't, and maybe find answers behind the gods' blessings.
