Design notes

An unorganized list of design elements I like & dislike, because I’m participating in more design exchanges and should probably list this stuff!

My taste is all over the place, so... make of all this as you will:

  • Vaporwave & Lo-Fi - especially road trip & sunsets/palm trees & all; grainy VHS quality anime.
  • Sailor Moon circa 1990s.
  • Cottagecore- particularly rustic, summery vibes, soft yellows, creams, brown, green, lots of plants; gingham patterns.
  • Victorian Picnic? Idk man very summery, light, lots of lace and frills vibes. Strawberries, cut fruit, etc.
  • But also spring stuff. And autumn/Halloween. And winter/Christmas.
  • And valentine’s.
  • Accessories in general.
  • Space - doubly so combined with the vaporwave vibes.
  • Sanrio- Little Twin Stars, My Melody & Cinnamoroll the most.
  • Lisa Frank. I will go absolutely feral for Lisa Frank vibes ok.
  • Dark royalty/divinity. Yes it’s similar to dark academia but like, fancier and with twisted holy vibes.
  • The Woods Are Weird; or, Twin Peaks. West coast rainforest from about October - December. Deer, wolves, owls, crows.
  • Antlers. A n t l e r s.
  • Crystals/delicate high fantasy; heraldic unicorns. Magic, sparkles, all that stuff.
  • I don’t know how to explain this one aside from ‘Alucard and Integra circa Hellsing Ultimate’.
  • Metallic elements are always rad, same with non-flesh body makeup.
  • Plushie vibes
  • Dragonflies, moths, butterflies.
  • Very abridged list of media I'm into- generally I'll always dig references to/themes inspired by these!
    • A Song of Ice and Fire,Wings of Fire, Wayward Children, Mass Effect, Cube Escape/Rusty Lake, Metroid, Castlevania/Bloodstained, Spyro, Final Fantasy (X-2 & XII in particular), Half Life 2/Portal, Pokemon (Gen 5 best gen), Fairy Tail, FMA:B, One Piece, Hellsing Ultimate, Dragon Ball.

Things I dislike/am picky enough about its best to avoid:

  • Scenecore/neon - I do like it, but in very case by case basis.
  • Insectoid elements except those mentioned above.
  • Highly saturated colors- red & orange in particular, it can be very hard on my eyes.
  • Complex body patterns- more because I have trouble replicating them though, so it’s not a hard no.
  • Will add to this as needed??
