Past lovers. Vega likes to act like they still somewhat are, Mako doesn't feel the same.
Vega and Mako met right after Mako had run away, and quickly formed a close bond, but with Vegas' adventurous and curious personality, they soon grew apart. Vega thinks about Mako sometimes, reminiscing.
Mako hates him. Essentially blames him for the fact his life went so downhill. Something about "If I hadn't met that damned demon, I might've been able to have a normal life."
He still thinks about what they had, just more solemnly than Vega.
One day, his majesty walked into a brothel asking for their best. He expressed that he has no lack of money. Therefore owner was happy to comply and brought him their rarest breed-- a squid demi-human.
