I have gotten used to drawing on my phone this year, but I miss using the laptop + art tablet. It was a difficult year for me and my family, and I didn't invest as much time and effort in my practice as I should have.

Things I learned this year: I enjoy aiming for vintage kitsch styles, but I need to be careful not to make the cheeks too perfectly round. Drawing fur as lines is time consuming but adorable. I figured out a technique with my lines that I like. I realized I can do a lot with just acrylic and airbrush.

Going forward, I want to focus more on anatomy and backgrounds. Doodling is fun, but I want more high effort pieces I can be proud of. I'd also like to try at more GIFs and animations. I'd also like to make sure I draw something at least once a month.

This year was a bit rough, artistically. I felt like I was really starting to get somewhere good, and then... My laptop stopped working so I couldn't open my art program. I switched to traditional art with crayons, and then to digital art again, but on my phone, which is taking some getting used to.

Things I learned this year: I like my art better with thinner, but still textured, lines. I found a style of eyes that I like. I've learned I can make great things by relaxing and loosening up, not getting lost in the details... But also that, if I focus and put in a lot of time and effort, the results will be worth it. I challenged myself to draw things I would normally not do, and saw surprising improvement.

Because I was using crayons, and then an art program on my phone I was unfamiliar with, I did a lot of experimenting with styles, line weight, etc, trying to find something I liked. I might incorporate some of the experimental stuff into my art going forward, but I really just want to get back to my familiar art program with familiar brushes and do the art style I've been missing since June when my laptop stopped working properly.
