Making the species?

Posted 8 years, 9 months ago by Mail

I guess think of this as looking at potential interest, but how do you people feel about me developing my "cloud kirin"s more and making it into a species?

I love Quassa a lot and in the past I've done doodles on what other members of her species would look like, and the results were fun! It's something i'm thinking about looking into, but since i'm not a person who's made closed species before (i've done some adopts and stuff here and there) I know I would definitely want to go about it carefully so I don't carry out any of the bad practices that the communities might have.

I especially want to differentiate this species from the plethora of others so that it doesn't end up close to the existing ones already out there.

Here are some notes on the species I have in my head already:

  • responsible for weather patterns and natural disasters (with each member likely having a specific area of expertise/job/task or something and that being represented in their design)
  • variations in feet types, with some more canine/rabbit, others more bird, and others along the horse/deer route (since they are kirins I wanted to bring in different interpretations of kirins, qilins, and so forth throughout different cultural stories)
  • avoids contact with humans but are still written about in mythology in both good and bad ways
  • flies in a sort of "swimming" like fashion or like a snake in water
  • clouds on neck and tail diminish or disappear when they are hurt/sick
  • variations in horns and cloud shape, potentially some variations in the type of tail maybe?
  • of course, variations in colours and maybe some patterns (don't wanna go overboard with complex designs)
  • can walk on clouds or water, depending on what side of weather they represent
  • could potentially live in large groups together to create stronger weather patterns
  • species lives around the world, try to coordinate with eachother on what weather to make and when a natural disaster "has to happen" according to them, but some probably still cause trouble by not sticking to the schedule
  • because of their "jobs" they try to seperate themselves from humans and other species to not get attached....sort of like a "mother nature" stance in that sometimes a disaster has to happen to benefit the environment...and they can't let their personal feelings get in the way
  • probably lives for thousands of years
  • they would probably need to be called weather kirins or something creative since I wanted to expand just beyond "clouds"

Hmmh I dunno! If anyone has any ideas or questions i'd love to hear it. :D
