Carousel

The northernmost island of Opalesca.  Carousel is snowy all year, with a mostly frozen shoreline and hardy evergreen forests.  The center of the island is a high plateau, on which a great glass dome has been constructed.  The environment inside the dome is controlled by magic, and maintains warm spring weather at all times.  Outside the dome, arctic creatures live as sailors and fishermen.  Within the dome, tribes of fairy folk live in stunning gardens.  An academy within the dome teaches and researches magic and astrology.  Those who live outside the dome consider themselves a guardian militia that takes care of those inside.
