Seawing Queendom
For years the Seawing Queendom has been embroiled in a violent civil war between the two prospective Queens, Heir Leviathan and Heir Serpent. The previous Queen, Queen Trench, was killed in a duel by Heir Serpent, meaning that the rights of the throne fell to her, by Princess Leviathan refuses to bow to her younger sister.
The two each have their own parties of supporters, with Heir Serpent claiming the capital city of Bouligneux [boo-lea-nyur], forcing Heir Leviathan and her supporters to flee to the southern portion of the Queendom, taking the city of Calon[Cah-Lan] as their main base of operations. The two Heirs proceeded to forcefully divide the Queendom into two, no neutral parties were allowed to exist; you were either for one side or the other.
No progress has been made for either side, as the war has devolved into a mess of trench warfare and espionage. Each side is currently attempting to get help from other nations, though any support would be material in nature considering most of the fighting is happening underwater.
Currently, the main effect of the war is causing a halt in trade within Pantala, as boat travel is the preferred way to transport goods and dragons between the nations that don't share land borders.
The tropical south of the Seawing Queendom that borders along the Rainwing Nation used to belong to a sovereign nation separate from the Queendom. Centuries ago this nation, formerly known as Cirand [Ser-hand] now refereed to as the Southern Territories, was colonized by the Queendom and stripped of their self determination and sovereignty. With the civil war rocking the foundations of the Seawing Queendom, separatist groups within Cirand have taken the opportunity to expel their colonizers and regain what was once lost. The difficult road of rebuilding has only begun and is under threat from both sides of the Seawing civil war, but a unlikely ally in the Rainwing nation may balance the tides.
The center of Princess Serpent's forces, the ancient architecture of the city reaches up and above the water, allowing for the storage goods that need to be kept dry and the ability for dragons without gills to visit the grand city.
The majority of the Seawing population lives within the spires of Bouligneux, though most of the military left to join the stronger Princess Leviathan. Meaning that Serpent might have the public's support, but if Leviathan's forces reach the city it won't matter.
The newly Independent nation of Cirand has had a rough history, with only recently having taken back their sovereignty from the Seawing Queendom. Seawings from Cirand have vibrant scales and coloured teeth, which were shunned and seen as unsightly by their colonizers. The lands that Cirand held prior to colonization were heavy in coral reefs and tropical islands bearing fruit. These enticing goods brought the gaze of imperialism onto the region.
As the Queendom's gaze is brought elsewhere Cirand is given an oppertunity to reform and rebuild, but without a stable foundation the future looks bleak for the reforming nation.
Calon used to be a moderately populated fishing village on the sea floor, but once it declared it's allegiance to Princess Leviathan the village found itself becoming the center of operations for a violent revolutionary force.
The village turned into a military base overnight, with Leviathan's supporters being mostly those from the Seawing military due to the Princesses agenda of increasing their expansion inland. Despite her plans to spend the Seawing Queendom inland, Leviathan lacks the resources and workers to do so, and must take the capital city and seize control of the entire Seawing Queendom before any expansion may happen.
