mimii sometimes pops up in random places for the hero to find, but not really to help them out any. it kind of just rambles. it's not unhelpful on purpose, though, more that it doesn't really know How to help them in a lot of instances. it seems to like talking at hero, though now that you think about it, it doesn't seem like it dislikes any of the people hero sees it hanging around. if you listen to it for long enough it might like you enough to give you quests but theyre probably kinda left-field. i keep thinking about it asking them to find it music recs for whatever reason.
it's kinda just a weird little guy. hero doesn't entirely mind mi, though i do think while you talk with it you Will get the option to gently tell it that its rambling if it. uh. is. they don't seem too fazed by the whole "this little thing is writing the narrative" thing, maybe because it also seems just as clueless about a lot of major plot events as they are. i think mimii would ask them if they have any questions after explaining that and there'd be an option to ask a really dumb unrelated question. maybe if you pick that one this can become a bit in future encounters.
it likes him, for some reason. despite it being able to tell you with full confidence it is 20 years old, mack seems to remember knowing them as far back as he can remember. we try not to question it. it's very attached to him, and likes to tag along whenever it doesn't have anybody else to bug. maybe it thinks he's funny, maybe it likes to be annoying to somebody who can tolerate its genre of annoying, who knows.
he tried to throw it against the wall once and all it did was bounce weakly so despite having control of the narrative it does not seem to be much of a threat. so he just kinda lets it hang out on his shoulder whenever it decides to pop up. he doesn't mind it, but he wouldn't call it a Friend as much as he would like. yknow when a family friend's kid gets weirdly attached to you specifically. yeah. but the kid in question is technically an adult and also i guess god in some respect ??????????????
death has known mack longer than either can count, and are kind of like. similar relationship to a good buddy from work with a slight air of Exasperation every time she sees him.
morty is. worried. about nico. they know he's a good kid, objectively more sensible than he lets on, but like. The Kid's Been Through A Lot. he's very much got Problems To Work Through and does Not Like To Talk About Them. he's just. a bit more open (aggressive) about that. so morty does Not know how to talk to him really, and feels like they Should be giving him some form of advice while nico would rather Die Again than hear them lecture him. it's a rock and a hard place. they're trying to be accommodating to him. (note: yes they have let celine know where nico runs off to. they Are a responsible adult.)
whenever nico runs off he usually winds up just. coming by morty's garden and weeding. this is anger management to him. he also thinks this is incredibly embarrassing, but what can you do. nico doesn't actually mind morty, but he Does think they can harp a bit. he's there to rip out weeds not have somebody try to play therapist at him. what Especially bugs him is how they will try to give him advice, while not following it themself. he's seen the shoulder to cry on act before in his sister and he Will call them on it.
one of the very few people who morty has let their guard down for. see, their main reasoning for not telling others about themself is that it's just not helpful, and ultimately distracting (and a bit of a downer, and they would hate to bring a good conversation/advice down like that). buuuut. anecdotal, painfully honest accounts of their undeath and grappling with it is. Unfortunately. what would actually help iris.
morty kind of adopted hero early on after their Inciting Incident^tm, and really enjoys their company. they're less talkative than most, but morty has plenty of stuff to fill the silence. they've always got an open door for them and hero Does usually take them up on it. in the context of the Game That Doesn't Exist i think they probably have the most earlygame quests, leading to a late-game quest where i think hero finds a VERY old letter addressed to them (like, Alive them,) and while they Do do their deflection thing on if they actually remember any of this stuff, they are Very touched by it. im pretty sure the ultimate payoff to that would be hero asking that, if they're not using the name, if they could. which they're fine with but are very much hiding the fact that they think this is the sweetest thing on earth. also i dont know what the name is.
they wouldn't admit this, they think it'd be weird, but morty's little cottage feels more like home than the village that raised them ever did. hero sees morty as a listening ear, even though they can't even communicate what they're going through a lot of the time. they also respect a comfy silence, which is rare and very much appreciated. that said, hero is a lot more Perceptive of morty's uh. Obvious Deflection Regarding Everything About Them To Become A Shoulder To Cry On For Others. they don't call them on it but they're very much Aware and in that they're kind of on a more even playing field than other characters are to morty. in the context of the game i think you can just pop in on them whenever to heal, and there's a lot of events where both of them can just sort of idle for as long as you want. if you pop by on a rainy night they might hand hero a cup of tea. if you pop by on low health hero might doze off and morty would put a blanket over them. some nights you'd see them hanging out in the garden just Watching The Stars and humming along to some other in game song. and if you pop by enough times you might hear hero join in.
the only things hero really knows about trigger are things that sera has told them about her, as well as like. her general vibe. this is enough for hero to be somewhat scared of her. she has a Very icy vibe and judging by how much sera talks about her they can guess she is. Very Strong. they are overall pretty glad she does not talk to them. not like she'd get a good answer out of them anyway (Little Do They Know Trigger Does Actually Know Sign)
trigger barely acknowledges hero. since they usually only drop by to see sera anyway, if she does have any questions or additions to the conversation she'll direct them at her instead. this is less because she Doesn't have respect for them though, and more because she is Very Prickly and it takes Quite A Lot of exposure for her to get on speaking terms with anybody. she actually has a certain amount of respect for the guy, mostly because of their clear skill from beating sera, just. they mutually do not have the speaking power to chat. both of them are probably fine with that.
(note: in hero's game that doesn't exist, i think if you get to high enough respect with her you'd get to fight her. she does Really want to fight hero.)
Iris very vaguely knew Allegro from college, and to be honest. the guy did their work. they were also the worst fucking person on the planet to talk to, but they did not wait until the last minute to work on it and they did not need their hand held. Allegro had a particular fondness for debating from devil's advocate views that they didn't even actively share, just to see how she'd take it, and while she did not come here to debate at all she also hated to lose. and it's like they would home in on topics that she did not know off the top of her head. and they would bait her into wasting all her time debating their stupid fucking strawman argument and by the time an ending is finally reached she's late to her next class. she hopes she never sees them again. I'm sure she won't. (THIS IS A LIE)
Allegro went to the same Magic College^tm as Iris, had one whole group project with her, and proceeded to find and push every single one of her buttons. to see how far they could go before she ended up snapping at them. the answer is apparently Really Far, because as long as it wasn't affecting their work she Rarely retaliated. it was still a thoroughly unpleasant experience, though, due to them quickly diagnosing her as a "chronic control freak, who somehow manages to be both a hardass and a pushover at the same time." iris agrees with this, but she does not like the person saying it.
Celine really tries to see Nico as a little brother, and she does get there eventually, but for a good portion of her story she either sees him as, the little brother she Had, which is not him, or failing that just as Her Fault. she blames herself for bringing him back, she blames herself for not doing it right, and she treats him with nothing but love but it's a very careful and cautious type. the type where one is trying far too hard to not hurt the other, and ends up alienating them in the process. she keeps making sacrifices to help him, and while she tells herself it's what any good sister would do, there's a feeling of guilt overriding a lot of it. that she's doing it less out of love, more that it's the least she could do for messing up so badly.
Nico does. not know how to feel about Celine. Past the initial distress of being brought back to life in a body that is not his, Celine has an air about her where everything she does feels like it's done because she owes him. He is painfully aware of how guilty she feels about his new life, and while he Isn't exactly happy to be here, he hates seeing somebody his brain at least Recognizes as a sister see him as something to pity. She so carefully tiptoes around him as if the littlest mistake could cause him to hate her, and he thinks that she'd probably think that's warranted too. he does not feel like anything more than a Mistake around her, despite that probably being the opposite of what she wants.
I am literally begging you to not let your homoerotic love affair get in the way of our business.
Originally on the case to look more into Morgan's bone selling biz, he ended up falling completely head-over-heels and now doing everything he can to cover up for Morgan, even at the risk of his job as a detective.
While they're mostly just delighted to have a cat to torment, Morgan does appreciate having Hemlock around. He does help distract the authorities from his shop, it's good to have someone from the inside. But, do you think Morgan could possibly even care for him? Nah, couldn't be...
Well, she's my top bone-selling associate, of course! They take care of our new shipments and deliveries, she's quite the efficient planner!
(Psh, have you ever heard of fun, Sarine?)
He's my boss. Think he tries a bit too hard to be creepy, it's fun to see them shift into their work persona, though.
(Boss, you don't have to be in character for your profile. Boss! Morgan!)
